Please don't take control of Saburo, or do things like auto-hitting or god-modding. This also includes forcing romance, if it comes up. If there's an idea you want to discuss, please come talk to me first.

If you have OOC questions, you can send them via ask (anon or not), or IM. And of course, questions directed at Saburo are always welcome!

Likewise, I love pre-established relationships of any kind, and am happy to plot if you want. But I tend to wing things more often then not.

I tend to go silent for long periods of time, or sometimes drop things completely. If this happens, you did nothing wrong, but I may need some space. Again, please respect that.

I'm also very busy with work and such, so activity will vary.

((Feeling this intense need to just have Saburo pining. He might not even realize what he's feeling is (romantic) love but there's just someone and he feels so desperate to be with them and make them happy. He's not used to this feeling (to this extent, at least) extending outside his family.

But also Saburo painfully aware of his faults, of how dangerous he can be even unintentionally, just because of his size and clumsiness. And terrified of what they would think of they saw *that* side of him. ))

For some reason my first thought for your au requests was Saburo in a coffee shop au. Don't ask me why.

Alternatively some sort of a royal / court au.

Coffee shop AU:

You think Saburo could work in a coffee shop? Oh absolutely not. Boy is a walking disaster who regularly clears whole countertops. Consider, instead, that this is a very high-end coffee shop, and Saburo is in charge of delivering heavy shipments of coffee beans on a regular basis. He's also apparently made a good enough impression on the building owner to be allowed to help with minor repairs-just keep him away from anything fragile! And, of course, after all his hard work, he always wants to try something to drink. Except he doesn't know much about coffee, other than he doesn't like it black (too bitter). He's willing to try anything the barista recommends, though! Just look at him on the other side of the counter, radiating innocence and excitement like a dog expecting a treat! Of course, he doesn't expect it on the house just because he delivered the beans-he'll scrape together what he has for his drink, along with a significant tip. His opinion on his drink, good or bad, is very obvious on his face, but regardless, he'll finish the whole thing before hurrying off to his next job with a promise to be back soon. Sometimes he'll stop long enough to mention something about other jobs, or his siblings, but he almost seems embarrassed to be a guest in such a high-end establishment. Romantic? That's all up to you...

Alternate Court AU (Royalty AU here):

In a variation of his main verse, Saburo is an okuri inu who grew up with his mother in the mountains for a time...but wasn't very good at being an okuri inu. Instead, as a child (and taking on human form), he often made money acting as an escort for merchants through the mountains, protecting them from harm. But the other okuri inu didn't like this, and once his mother died, they chased him from the mountains. Rumors about this strange little ayakashi were already fairly common in the villages on each side of the mountains, so when this child shows up, teary-eyed, at one of them, he's taken in by the local tea house while everyone figures out what you're supposed to do with a homeless okuri inu. Meanwhile, word spreads to the local daimyo of this strange situation. And he has a young son, just a little bit older than this child appears to be...dogs form steadfast bonds to their masters, so why wouldn't an okuri inu? Sure he has samurai at his command, but for his heir to have an ayakashi bonded to him as a personal guard...it's worth a shot, isn't it? And so this young, scared pup is escorted personally, by the daimyo's son, to the castle, and immediately must learn the ins and outs of court life. He's willing to learn, especially for his new best friend, but who knows where this road will lead? ((This one totally wasn't influenced by me wondering how Saburo might fit in a G.enshin AU))

Modern AU:

Probably a relatively tame, almost slice-of-life type AU. Saburo dealing with adulting. I feel like he'd work in road maintenance, but is handy enough to help out neighbors with any building troubles they're having (plumbing, electricity, repairs, ect.). Sometimes he considers community college for some sort of certification, but he tends to push that to the back of his mind as 'not an option right now'. What is his priority, of course, is his siblings, who he would do anything for in a heartbeat. No matter how busy he is, he's never missed anything of theirs, and doesn't hesitate to wake up at 2am if some comfort and a lullaby or two is needed. In this AU, he doesn't tend to go out as much at night, so 'taking care of random strangers in danger' isn't as common of an occurrence, partly because he doesn't want people thinking he's going out drinking every night and leaving his siblings alone. Finally, I feel like this AU would have more potential to explore Saburo's love life than other ones might-but he doesn't make it easy. He's pretty openly affectionate with everyone (unless told otherwise-puppy instinct activate), so you can't tell if he's being romantic or platonic (spoiler: neither can he). But he might get there one day.

Idol AU:

((Aging Saburo down a bit for this one)) Somehow, Saburo does surprisingly well in the idol world? You'd think he'd get confused and overwhelmed with everything going on, but routines are like games to him, and he loves to pour his all into them. He's also never pays much attention to gossip or drama (which, to some managers, is a bad thing-sometimes you really have to sit him down and tell him to stop acting a certain way). The main source of any drama about him is that he can get very protective of other idols nearby, whether they're competing against each other or not, and at least seems like he'd be willing to get physical. Between that and his cheerful disposition, he's earned the nickname 'Puppy Knight'. He seems to perform best in upbeat pop songs, although he's got talent for sweet romantic ones too. If needed, he can force himself into a more punk style, but not for very long. His mood noticeably dampens when he has to go on tour, and he spends a lot of his free time checking his phone...wonder why...

Royalty AU

Saburo really, really doesn't want to be a prince. It feels too important, too...heavy. He's not good at this type of stuff. He'll behave at parties, rub elbows with the elite, follow all the rules he has to in order to make his family look good...but is this really the life he's fated to? He'd rather saddle his horse and flee as far as possible. The only thing stopping him? His siblings, who he loves so much and who have so much more potential than him as royals. He wishes he could bottle the joy they bring him and keep it close to his heart forever. It would tear him apart to leave them. So he'll put his nose to the books again, try to make sense of what he's supposed to be doing. Just a few more hours, and then it will be tea time, and he can unwind with his siblings, maybe practice his archery after that? Anything except another book.
