Allo, good to see you still around! How have things been?

Hello hello! Good to be around! Thing’s have been alright though slow. Been hopping around fandom fixations a bit but primarily have just been just slowly working on stuff for later story stuff for here and on and off sickness spells.

I hope you’ve been well! Always nice to see folks again.

Munday: if your characters suddenly appear in the middle of nowhere, what would be their reaction?

Ooo this is an interesting one. Of the characters currently relevant, Altiora would be rather alarmed and worried but would keep a brave face and try to find his family or a way home

For Nightshade, he probably wouldn’t even realize he was awake and would assume that he’s dreaming. Probably after a while he’d realize and probably panic unless his brother was there with him.

Some of the other characters would either be surprised or confused, but it also depends on the definition of nowhere. Is it nowhere as in the middle of a random field or desert? Or is it a vast and empty void space? Each reaction would depend on that and also if they’re with another character or alone.

I really love the designs of your characters. How do you go about designing them?

As for how I go around designing my characters, most of the time it’s combining features or vibes? For example with Nightshade I’d wanted to mess around with Shaymin Sky Form’s design but to incorporate the Darkrai aspect I gave him neck fluff to read a bit like how Darkrai’s neck thingy sits but rather than red I kept it dark so the red/maroon that would be for the leaves/scarf of sky form sort of bleed frontward. And rather than the sort of skirt I gave him a shadowy tail of sorts like Darkrai’s (because it does have a tail if you look at it from a side profile). Color wise, he uses shiny Shaymin’s coloration and regular Darkrai’s colors (which is a lore reason but we’ll get there eventually.)

Meanwhile a character like his brother Altiora, he started off as a gijinka because I couldn’t figure out what I’d wanted and realized I could incorporate the brown hair I’d given him as brown fur to replace the typical grassy coat that normal shaymin has.

Then there’s other characters who will reappear who I had pre-reboot like Marionette. Her design was always going to be a Zoroark but I’d wanted to try my hand at a sort of hybrid and Slyveon wasn’t what most would’ve expected with a character as imposing as she would be. In this aspect, the vibes were “how could I make a character who at the core could be considered friendly in concept but be terrifying or intimidating in execution”, and low and behold we got her. She wasn’t meant to end up as large as she did, but after drawing her next to other people’s characters and Nightshade pre-reboot her design felt more suited to be as large as it did, as if to also tell the story that she’s a powerful threat but also highly protective of her pack.

So yeah! Mostly vibes and concepts or features that I mash together. And their designs also in turn have room to evolve overtime (like Nightshade’s fur becoming darker as it did and Marionette’s height and her scars). I do hope to eventually get to show more characters as the blog goes on, many of the old crew and many new crew!

The shaymin glanced once back over at the sleeping mon, before glancing back. “I don’t NEED to wake him up, but help would be appreciated! It’s very boring without him awake to pester! …though I don’t think I recognize what you are? You don’t look like a shaymin I’ve ever seen before, or a pelipper!”

“Mor…ning…” the larger mon manages to squeak out.

Real quick, mod here! Just wanted to give a small heads up on the blog for folks when sending asks n stuff!

The plot/story of the blog is restarted and different, so while Nightshade and folks from before will show up, they will not remember events from before this reboot. (As in lore stuff so Nightshade never got beaten up by Marionette and all that)

But this does not mean that you have to talk to them as if they’re new characters! For folks who had interacted with them before the reboot, you can still interact with them however you wish (like if they were friends, they’re still friends! If you wanna keep some antagonistic vibes between your character and theirs, go ahead!)

I wanted to say this so new folks don’t feel discouraged to leave asks based on the old story.

Speaking of the new story, it’s basically PMD:EoS but with my own twist/spin on it so think of it as a very convoluted au story. But Nightshade is still the protagonist alongside Altiora. …it’ll make sense in the future, I promise.

TLDR: while the blog has a new story, you can keep interacting with the cast both as new characters and as old friends. Enjoy!

(Shaymincafe) Pumpkin approached quietly, eager to see her old friend again but not wanting to disturb his slumber. “I can’t say I recognize you,” she said in a quiet voice to the other Shaymin. “Who might you be?”

Despite how loud he seems to be, the sleeping figure doesn’t wake. “Can’t say I recognize ya either. This village is tiny and I know every shaymin around!”
