‘I swear every day of my life I’m forced to add another name to the list of people who piss me off.’
Art looked up at her with wide eyes. "How could anybody want to piss off someone with magic words?"
Open Starter: Disappearing Act
Carrie walked into the school and sighed softly as she looked at everything around her. It was all so bright and peppy compared to the darkness of the forest that she came from.
"I don't understand Iris's affinity for this school, it makes me curiouser and curiouser. But maybe it could be due to her stupid loyalty to the Queen of Hearts." She mumbled softly as she thought to herself.
Then she grinned softly and disappeared into the nearest tree and laid there in wait for the nearest victim. She sat for a while relaxing in the shade of the tree until she suddenly heard footsteps and cracked an eye open. She hung upside down from the tree and grinned. "Hello there."
Harper was a bit confused to be completely honest. But the puzzle of trying to work out what the other girl said was surprisingly grounding. It was mostly nonsense, just reiterating oppositional phrases, but she was glad to have not actually offended her. She seemed interesting.
Her heart stopped for a moment. This was about to turn from fun to bad very quickly. "You make a big fuss about watching what one says, and then you tell me I smell weird? How does that work?"

Harper genuinely laughed. She could barely think straight enough to function, let alone think beyond general phrases and greeting. "No, I don't tend to, sorry. I didn't mean to offend you, I was just trying to be polite."
"Good point." She stood there as the other girl circled her. The world started to come more into focus. She felt the wind pass her arms, and she wiggled her feet a little to feel the ground. A deep breath in. A deep breath out. "I guess I'm just saying school's not that bad. I'm just not that interested."
ask-some-voyagers:
Sawyer sat at their desk, rocking slowly in their chair. Math homework was a chore, especially when the notes they had to do it with were extremely lacking. The book itself was barely helpful, and they’d resigned themself to getting a failing grade on this assignment. Then they’d have to write a strongly worded note in the journal about why it was important to take notes in class when fronting.
When Nova walked through the door, their head popped up and they smiled. A distraction! They deflated slightly at her words. Nothing ever good came from ‘needing to talk’. They turned their chair slightly to face her. “What’s going on? Is everything okay?”
“Sort of…” Nova pauses, fidgeting, glancing over the other. She usually needed a certain phrase or certain amount of time to figure out who’s fronting. She never delves in of her own accord. Not for anyone, and certainly not for this.
Fuck.
“Um. Look, it’s… I haven’t been entirely honest about something. And it’s, it’s hard for me to do this, to talk about this, to be honest every fiber of my being is screaming at me not to, but I… I said once that it’s, it’s important that roommates can trust each other and, y’know, I got trusted with your secret and I didn’t… I didn’t say anything.”
She clears her throat. “It’s just… it’s a lot. I have to be careful who I tell because… because this, what I’m about to say, saying it… could put me in danger. Severe danger.”
Sawyer frowned a little. This was concerning. What could she be hiding that was going to put herself in danger? Was she a VK in hiding? Why was she trying to tell them if it was going to risk her safety? This did not seem like a good idea. "Hey, you do not have to tell me anything you don't feel comfortable sharing. I am not going to tell anyone, but you do not have to risk your life to be honest."
They reached out to offer their hand. It was a comforting gesture Iris had offered them in many big conversations. Hopefully it had the same affect coming from them. "It's Sawyer, and Giselle told you because she knew we were in a safe environment where we could tell you. It's not like the Isle here, where we had to hide to survive. But you don't have to tell me anything if you're not safe. And if someone is threatening you, we can try to get help."
Closed Starter: Secrets (Nova/Voyagers)
Nova sighs as she rounds the corner towards her room.
She could stop and go back. Go find Sam or Melinda or Sylvia or Nari. Hell, it’d be easier to tell Fergus and go deal with him than this.
Maybe it depends on who she’s talking to, but she thinks even with the easiest of them it’s gonna be hard. They’re roommates, they’re supposed to be able to trust each other with this kind of stuff.
At least, that’s what she’d told Giselle when the other had come clean about the system thing…
Fuck. Nova stops at the door, resting her head against it for a moment. Deep breaths. Here she goes. Unlocking it and walking in, Nova drops her bag beside her desk and pulls out her chair, resting on it and leaning forward slightly. “Hey. I need to talk to you about something.”

Harper backed up slightly to give her room to land, and shrugged. "The concern wasn't fake, necessarily. It was more just a statement of general fact." She didn't know this person or their tree hanging habits, all she knew was that most people couldn't stay upside down for long.
She shook her head at the questions. "Not bored, just not all the way present." It was the best way to describe the dissociative feeling she got whenever life was too hard. "School's fine if that's what you're in to. I'm just not a fan of Auradon in general."
Open Starter: Unknown Prince
Hyson just finished up his regular school class for the day and was looking at his phone and going through his schedule again to see if he had any free time to actually meet up with some of his friends and be a normal student for once. His father had sent him to Auradon Prep under the guise of wanting to make more foreign connections but in reality, his dad and his sibling were worried about Hyson. He was stuck learning about the world and its people but for the most part he was detached and alone with only two friends outside of his brother in laws and the Fa family being his closest confidants.
Hyson looked up from his schedule and sighed softly.” Stuck in lessons until 10pm again. So much for making connections and being normal.” He muttered under his breath and turned off his phone since there was no use in draining the battery when he won’t even have time to look at it. “Maybe I’ll get lucky and get kidnapped or all my classes getting canceled.”
Klaus looked at him a little confused. "How is the headmistress not in charge of your classes?" He shook his head and rolled his eyes. "Y'know it doesn't really matter, but you should talk to whoever is in charge of your schedule."
He smiled as the other person began to question him back. This random outing might actually work. "Of course it is. Most people just send one of those email things and then spend the day free as a bird. It's good for the mind. Teens are supposed to be rebellious."
be wise. be brave. -Iris to Harper!
"I don't want to be brave, Iris. I want to go home." Harper had been front stuck for two days at this point. The first several hours she didn't know where she was, and it was terrifying. Now, she just wanted to stop existing again. "The Isle was my home, why do we have to be here in Auradon now? Why did they force us to leave?"

Harper tried her best, but Auradon wasn't working for her. The Isle had always been home, and she missed the safety of familiarity and repetition. She walked along the path outside the school, hoping to clear her head before their next class.
She stopped and blinked a few times before it processed that there was another person hanging from the tree. She didn't know what to say in response, were they the kind of people who said hi to people now? "You're gonna get a headache if you keep doing that," is what she finally settled on.
i love you. i will always love you. -Iris to Giselle!
Giselle grinned and twirled slightly as she walked. "I love you too!"
"It's nice to say that; I love you. Back on the Isle, expressing positive emotions was... frowned upon." Being out with Iris was her favorite activity, regardless of what they were doing. Her bubbly energy made her heart all warm and fuzzy.
"I’ll make us a midnight snack." (Giselle to Iris)
"Okay. Do you want any help, sweetie?" Iris sighs and wrinkles her nose. She doesn't pick favorites, she swears she doesn't. She's just... giving in, because Giselle could be stubborn when she didn't want to go to bed sometimes.
Definitely.
Giselle beamed as she made her way to the cupboard to collect ingredients. Spending time with Iris always brightened her day. "Sure! Could you find the chocolate chips? I swear people hide them."
She gathered the few ingredients she knew she needed and brought them over to the table. "And maybe a bowl too," she said with a light laugh.

Klaus chuckled, "No, classes until 10 are not the norm, at least not where I'm from. You should talk to FG about it." He knew it was a lost cause, but maybe he could convince him to have a little fun.
He turned a little to give the guy space to leave for his class. As much fun as it would be, he wasn't going to actually kidnap this stranger. "Maybe you should call it today. Tell your teacher you don't feel well and then have some fun today. That's what's normal for a teenager."

Klaus closed his locker with a frustrated sigh. Today was going to suck. According to their therapist, it would be a good idea for him to be out more and make real meaningful connections now that they were off the Isle. It seemed like bull to them. Especially because it meant that Sawyer would push him to the front and let him deal with going to classes.
They perked up a little as they heard the person from across from them. They strolled over with a mischievous grin. "A kidnapping could be arranged if you like. Who has classes until 10 PM anyways?"
"I'm going outside to explore." (Areli to Iris)
"Well... okay, but I have to quickly check, be honest with me-- when were you last at front, baby? Do you know how... weird, things around here have been lately?" Iris sets her pen down slowly as she looks up with a small frown. Maybe Areli wouldn't get involved in all the weird fights that have been springing up lately...
...but then again, maybe she'd get trapped somewhere when one breaks out. So consider Iris appropriately cautious. At least, in her opinion.
At Iris’ feet, Snickers perks his head up, sitting up and wagging his tail slightly at Areli’s words and Iris’ emotions, seeming to know what she was thinking.
...mostly Areli’s words, though.
Areli punched her arms down and puffed out her chest in determination. "I'm going outside. Every time I wake up I'm here or in our room and I never get to explore. Art gets to run around all the time, and it's fine when he does it."
The world outside was scary, especially now that they were so far away from home. She knew the others wanted to protect her, but she wanted to explore. She wanted to get to be a kid. Wasn't that why they were here, anyways?
Before her resolve could drop, she said. "And besides. I'll have you, and Snickers. Nothing bad can happen with Snickers protecting us."
well, can’t you give me a clue? -Iris to Art!
Art giggled and shook his head. "Nope you gotta find it all on your own!" The leash he'd stolen was barely hidden behind a shelf, the end dangling out from behind it. He tried to position himself in front of it in an attempt to shield it more from her view. "That way we can keep playing!"
you will always be safe here with me. -Iris to Sawyer!
Sawyer gave her a soft smile and took a deep breath. They set the book they'd been clutching to their chest back down on the table. "Thank you." The fog in their head made it hard to concentrate, but they tried their best. "It's been hard. Being here. No one really knows who I am. It's all about who Klaus and Harper knew. So thanks, for being here for me."
