"verse" is a term used for universes your character can exist in! Sometimes it's just a divergent version of canon, sometimes it's a specific point in a time line such as a verse before or after x event. We will use vampire as an example- you could have a verse for them as a human pre turned, and then a verse for them after they've made the change!
Other examples of verses are say if you have a teen wolf canon character and you then write them to be able to exist in game of thrones so you can write with those characters also! (This also applies to Oc's!) A verse pretty much just means "This is how my character exists in this set of circumstances/story line"
There ARE two subtypes that go along with verses called "Crossover" and "AU/ Alternate universe"
Crossover refers to two established canons meeting where both canons still exist. Think Buffy meets Supernatural, everything in both universes is still an established truth- but now both hunters AND slayers exist.
An AU refers to an alternate universe where X character is in a completely different canon. For instance putting your character in star wars- you would adhere to all of star wars' canon. Your character can't be a werewolf but it's possible they are an alien! These can be really fun to try and fit your character into a story they aren't from and see how close you can get to their canon story line!!
What is the difference between a cannon and headcannon. And how do they work? Im not sure if this was asked already.
Hello hello!
Canon refers to something established by the source material that can be specific to a character or as broad as the universe a character exists in. Such as "supernatural creatures and magic exist" verses a world where they don't. A character specific canon would be like X character is a vampire. That is something that is established as a fact in the source material.
A headcanon tends to refer to a personal portrayal note or detail in your particular world/character's existence. it can be something as big as a fan wide headcanon like "x character is a closet queer" that is just widely accepted in the fandom OR it can be personal and specific such as your particular rendition of X character's favourite food is a ham sandwich.
Headcanons can be small or BIG details, that can touch on literally anything in your character or their world. Some people base them on canon facts and build off of them and some people pull them out of complete thin air!
as far as i am aware this indicates a pause kind of like a comma but more abrupt. I could be completely wrong but that is how I personally use it! If anyone has any input please feel free to correct me, as this one I am not confident on!
What does starter call mean? Im not sure if you answered this already
Hello hello! Starter call refers to a post that is meant to be liked or commented on (usually by mutuals) that indicates their interest in the poster writing a starter for them! Starter in this case just refers the the start of an interaction!
Hi there! Thank you so much for the question! PSD refers to a specific type of colouration/texture that people often put over icons/graphics/gifs to give them a unique look!
for example these two pictures for comparison!
Left has no PSD and right uses my personal PSD that I had custom made for my Katherine blog!
A lot of the times these are meant to highlight, or darken aspects, colourize to fit a theme for uniformity! But some can be as simple as fixing the lighting in a scene or as complex as removing an entire colour from an image!
A lot of people have some free ones up, some you have to buy, and some you can even commission for your own unique look like mine! However whatever you use please make sure to always credit! It's someone's hard work and we all deserve to have our hard work recognized <3
Premise: Pick a former version of your muse and write it against when your muse finally dies.
Your Muse's younger self gets to ask your muse's older self stuff about their lives based on the prompts sent in.
PLEASE SPECIFY MUSE FOR MULTIS!
"What age did we make it to?"
"Did we have a lot of friends?"
"Did we ever find out _____?"
"Did we ever find love?"
"Did we get a happy ending?"
"Was it a good life?"
" Did we ever find ____ again?"
"What was the worst thing we ever did?"
"What was the best thing we ever did?"
"I don't recognize you."
"Did _____ ever stop hurting?"
"Did we ever see ______ again?"
"Who was the most important person to us?"
"Did we get to do everything we dreamed of?"
"Open starter" and "Closed starter" refer to post made by a mun with the purpose of starting an interaction. A closed starter means that it's a personalized starter only meant for the person tagged to reply to. Where as an open starter is a generic one that any person is welcome to use to initiate an interaction between characters.
While it's not a rule of thumb, it is a popular stipulation that most "open" starters are also reserved for mutuals only. So you have to be following each other to reply in that case.
Hi Fox!! π¦ I was wondering: What does it mean when people say that they are giving their blogs a 'soft reboot'?
Hey! Thank you so much for your question!
Generally A hard reboot implies someone making a whole new blog and starting over with just about everything!
Where as a soft reboot involves not making a whole new blog, but rather dropping some threads, clearing the ask box, and adjusting your followers (soft blocking ones you no longer wish to interact with <3)
To become a main / exclusive for this character please reach out to the mun over @/urlhere on tumblr. Tell the mun the name of the muse you are looking to have a connection with and if you are a multimuse if there is only certain muses you want the connection with.
Hi, sorry to bother you! I was wondering if you could tell me the difference between mains, exclusives, and affiliates? I see them on a lot of people's pinned posts and I am confused as to what the difference is!
A fantastic question! Thank you for asking it!
Let me break it down for you.
Mains- this category tends to be used as a priority bracket. Your mains get special privileges compared to your regular mutuals. This is usually priority on replies and memes. They get to skip the wait line for most people. Usually these are people you really click with and want to prioritize anyway.
exclusives- this category is used for people who's portrayal you like so much you don't really see the need to write with another. It's considered a high compliment in the rp world for someone to say "will you be my exclusive" bc they're saying you're the only version of that character they can see themselves wanting to interact with. Usually after a history of writing many threads/dynamics.
Exclusives don't always go both ways but thats ok! It still works the same as a compliment, and the reasons for a one way exclusive could just be them trying to include a friend to even if they'd like to exclusive you otherwise!
Affiliates- This can be seen two ways depending on who's using it. Originally Affiliates refers to people who's portrayal and story line is very much so intertwined with yours. For instance if character A references character b in a reply character A is specifically talking about a particular writers character B if they are affiliates. Not just the generic canon, they mean a specific portrayal.
The other way is just ppl you like you wanted to put on your pinned. But this is mainly an evolution from misunderstanding the original concept lmfao.
