In 1938, an unknown American snapped this photo of starlet and civil rights activist Lena Horne and Pittsburgh native son Charles “Teenie” Harris (with a cameo by Honest Abe). Over the course of his career with the Pittsburgh Courier, Teenie snapped over 80,000 photographs, capturing unprecedented documentation of 20th Century Pittsburgh’s black urban experiences. 

We’ve partnered up with the Carnegie Museum of Art to present East Liberty in Focus, a special selection of the images Harris snapped in and around East Liberty — some even shot on the very site of Ace Hotel Pittsburgh, when they called it East Liberty YMCA. Opening night festivities go down tomorrow night with help from poet Dr Tameka Cage Conley, CMOA Archive Specialist Charlene Foggie Barnett, historian and author John M Brewer Jr, DJ Soy Sos and musicians Idasa Tariq and Jacquea Mae. We’ll see you there.

Quick hits on Matt Reynolds

With Ruben Tejada out for the season with a leg injury, Matt Reynolds has been added to the Mets roster to replace the shortstop. Reynolds, a 24-year-old infielder, will make his major league debut when he appears in a game for the Mets. Here are some facts about the newest Met.

- Was drafted by the Mets in the second round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of the University of Arkansas.

- Was named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team this season.

- Hit .267 with six homers and 65 RBI in 115 games with Las Vegas this season.

- Hit .375 with two homers and had 10 RBI in 24 Spring Training games with the Mets this year.

- Was named a 2014 MiLB.com Organizational All-Star after hitting .343 in 124 games with Binghamton and Las Vegas.

- Will join Mark Kiger (Oakland 2006) as the second player in the modern era to make his debut in a postseason game if he appears in a game.

Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure is a beautifully drawn and well written comedic point and click adventure inspired by classic Lucasarts Adventures and the works of Hitchcock and HP Lovecraft.

As well as the excellent artwork and silly plot involving the Necronomicon and a taking cat, the dialogue is a particular standout – full of interesting characters, witty put downs and fourth wall breaking in-jokes that are bound to raise a smile.  We Necronomi-can’t wait to see more this fun Lovecraftian adventure!
