Jiro!! u redy for the best date everr???

Alli sent her text, waiting in the Mortkranken lobby. She had showed up half an hour early- later than she wanted to due to some last-minute Jabberwock work. At least the little incident would make for good conversation.

She was intently checking through the schedule she made like it was the most important document she's ever had to check. At this moment, it was. Burning every detail into her brain one last time, she folded up the small piece of paper and tucked it into her black thigh-high stockings which fit just a bit too tightly along with the rest of her outfit. Alli had showed up in a crimson velvet bodycon dress with slit exploded her entire left thigh. A dress that was perhaps a bit too dressy for a science museum... but when has she ever cared about being too dressy?

Alli adjusted her long sheer black gloves before flicking open her phone and checking her hair one last time. She had tried to calm her messy hair the best she could for the occasion, pulling most of her hair back into a low ponytail that rested on her left shoulder, but her poofy fringe still stuck out like fireworks. The girl had even tried to do her makeup a little differently by using a smokey brown color for her eyeshadow instead of the usual black. But of course, her hazel eyes were still tightly lined in a dark black.

She fidgeted with the ruffles on her dress slit as she bounced her leg, causing her black high heels to click on the floor. She totally was too dressed up... wasn't she? Alli sighed and closed her phone before hooking it on one of the chains around her waist. In the meantime, she'd occupy herself with counting the number tiles on the floor.

Jiro had just sat down with Yuri when his phone buzzes in his pocket. He holds his arm steady for the doctor as he reads the brief message.

It's a bit awkward, but he types with his non-dominant hand:

"Just finishing up treatment. I'll be there shortly."

It's not long after that he emerges from the lab and into the lounge where Alli was waiting. He was dressed a little nicer than usual - as advised by his captain. The dark coat and turtleneck covered his scars with ease, though he still kept the face mask on his chin - ready for when they arrived in more crowded conditions.

Jiro is left in a momentary daze as he takes in the sight of his girlfriend. She was dressed up nicely, but it was still very much her style. His eyes couldn't help but trace along the exposed skin at the slit of the dress. It danced somewhere on the border of elegant and sexy.

When he finds his voice again he compliments, "You look amazing, love. I was wondering what you had in mind, but this is beyond my expectations." The smile plastered on his face sang of his approval.

He could make a comment about how uncomfortable her shoes might become, but that would just open up an opportunity for him to carry her around. He liked the idea of holding her close to him, much like a child would hug their favorite stuffed animal.

He extends his hand to her. "To answer your earlier question, I am indeed ready for the best date ever."

His expression softens as a tinge of pink dusts his cheeks. "I'm lucky to have the most beautiful tour guide to take me on such an experience."

Alli perked up the moment she saw her beloved, reflecting the same look of awe he had with twice the speechlessness. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before taking Jiro's hand and pulling him (or more so, herself) into a kiss with her free arm hung around his shoulder. Alli didn't usually wear lip products due to her piercings, but she decided to apply some cherry lipgloss for the occasion and wanted to share the taste before her gluttony got the better of her.

"I- um.... I made you something! I know the guy is supposed to give the girl something for white day but I just couldn't resist giving you another treat~!!"

Recovering from her flustered state, Alli pulls a few microscopic slides out of her gloves like a magician doing a card trick. Inside each one is a tiny pressed flower petal.

"Each flower is one of the letters in your name.... written in english... I got jasmine, iris, rose, and orchid. I was working on doing your family name too... but I couldn't get it done in time."

The ghoul pouted and hung her head before quickly doing her usual emotional 180 and lifting herself up with a bright smile and peppy hop.

"I'm so excited for tonight! I made a whole schedule~!! Oh! I also brought some painkillers in case you start feeling icky. Those will help, right? Or should I have brought my stronger stuff? Aw fuck- I didn't even consider how they might collide with your other meds... it's okay! I know how to do CPR! on canines.... "

Alli quickly pecked Jiro on the cheek before adjusting her dress and leading him outside. She was pretty sure she remembered the way to the Galaxy Express.... but just in case, she let her lover lead the way.

Out of nothing but pure habit, Jiro holds each of the slides by their edges as he examines each one. "Quite a literal take on Hanatoba - and excellent use of slides. I very much look forward to seeing the completed project." The warmth an excitement was visible on his face. For those that knew what to look for, he looked positively ecstatic. "In fact, that gives me an idea..." he mutters to himself. Someone like Alli would probably appreciate sealed bacterial cultures arranged to spell her name - in much the same fashion as she did with the pressed flowers. Before he knew it, the pep came right back into her step several hundred fold - which was nothing unusual. Jiro couldn't help but laugh every time she went on one of her high-energy tangents. It wasn't always easy to follow, but very entertaining to watch. As they made their way to the Galaxy Express, Jiro shares what's on his mind. "I appreciate the thought, but I should be okay. The regular injections I take cover most possible ailments. For everything else, I have a couple of formulas I can take. They're pretty last-resort though since I have a hard time keeping it down." He frowns a bit. "I'd ask you to help me, but my stigma would poison you in the process." He gives her hand a brief squeeze before relaxing again. "I'd feel quite guilty if that happened." There are ways that it becomes more of a benefit, but that's a discussion for much later - when they have the time and the privacy to experiment. Jiro doesn't let go of her hand, even as they scan their smartphones for entry. He just wants to spend this day as close to his love as he possibly can. After all, with their busy schedules, it's hard to find time to just be with each other. Although they're the only ones on board the train, Jiro pulls Alli close, draping his arm over her shoulder as they sit side-by-side. "Thank you for all of this. Truly." He presses a gentle kiss to the top of her head. "You really spoil me, you know that?"

"Right!! Your stigma!! You gotta tell me more about sometime, mkay? I'm super curious~!! Oh! Do you think if I used my stigma on you, it'd reflect right back to me? Probably not since it's a mental thing, right? Anyways- I'm glad i didn't bring my stronger-and-less-legal painkillers then~!!"

Alli kept herself tightly latched onto Jiro's arm until the two sat down, nuzzling it every so often on the way. He had probably noticed by now, but she has a bit of a fascination with the way he smelled. He smelled safe. Calming. Clean, too.

She looked up at him with her doe eyes, (Allister Doe eyes, if you will!) as he kissed her, fluttering her eyelashes as her mouth perked into a wide smile.

"I spoil you because you deserve it all! You deserve the world! You deserve everything I could ever give you and more. And also because I love making things for you~!! It's nice, you know? Really nice. - to have someone to adore, I mean. And for you to love me back is just.... pshew!"

The ghoul made an explosion gesture with her hands to emphasize the onomatopoeia. Most days she still couldn't believe someone as wonderful as Jiro could actually love her... but today was a rare occasion where her doubts didn't burden her. Perhaps all the excitement was blocking the doom and gloom.

Nuzzling her love again, she interlocked her fingers with the arm slung over her.

"Your hands are cold..."

Alli mumbled, breathing hot air onto Jiro's hand before untangling it from around her and holding it close to her chest. She greedily grabbed his other hand and took it to the same spot as she alternated between rubbing his hands with hers and letting out a warm breath on his digits, adding some kisses in every now and then too.

"Maybe next I'll get you a heat lamp. A giant, Jiro-sized heat lamp. But of course, a heat lamp wouldn't be complete without a basking rock. Or maybe you'd prefer a log? Rocks hold the temperature better though...."

The Jabberwock ghoul began to trail off, planning out an entire enclosure for Jiro as if he were one of her snakes. But would he be a snake? He seemed more akin to a giant lizard... Maybe something like a monitor lizard? Or gila monster? Oh, he'd be such a cute lizard...

"Oh! Jiro! Let's take a selfie!!!"

Alli suggested abruptly, but she was already rummaging through her purse. From her bag she produced a small digital camera that looked to be just as dated as her cellphone.

"Can you take the photo pretty please~? Your arms are wayyyy longer than mine!"

Unconsciously, Jiro nuzzles against Alli's head as she warms his hands. There's just something about the care, and concern, and action that makes him act a little more affectionate in response. While a bit unusual, it was endearing to hear her talk about caring for him like one of her reptiles. Logistically, it would never work, but just the thought that she's so willing to care for him... As someone who needs a little extra care, it eases his concern of putting too much on her shoulders. While she could never medically treat him, she would likely need to pick up his slack whenever he was out of commission - which was far more often than he'd like. The rather abrupt suggestion snaps him out of his brief reverie. "I could give it a shot. It's this button, right?" It was such a simple request, but it made her so happy. So rather than pull out his own cellphone to make it easier, he uses the camera as asked. "How do you even know if it's in the correct position," he mumbles, thinking aloud. "Is this okay?" He looks over expectantly, either awaiting confirmation or direction.

"Mmh-hm! That's it! Say cheese~!! -actually don't. Mouthing "Tuesday" gives better results! Press the buttons a few times too- more photos means more chance for them to be good! That's how the math works... right?"

Alli shut her lips for a moment only for them to be reopened by a teethy smile. One of her hands was occupied with a peace sign while the other softly caressed her lover's cheek- gestures which quickly changed after each "click" of the camera.

"Thank you, baby~!! I'll upload these to my computer and send you them later, mkay?"

She gingerly took the device from Jiro, looking through the photos with a smile of content. Almost immediately after putting away her camera did the PA system announce their arrival at their destination. Alli stood up with spunk, firmly interlacing her hand with Jiro's once again, now satisfied with their warmth. The Jabberwock ghoul wobbled a bit with the stopping of the train, but it did nothing to seize her swinging arm and rising and falling heels.

"Ahh~!! I'm so excited! You're gonna love this place! -I hope... if you don't, I'll just take you on a better date! I'll keep trying until I get it right, I promise!"

Alli kissed Jiro's cheek - as if to seal that promise-before dashing out the train into the anamalous void- like zone.

"Oh! I forgot it's like this! Um... this is the way out, right?"

She didn't wait for an answer before swinging open a door that stood before her- a possibly reckless move if it didn't just lead to a Tokyo alleyway. Her spirited steps took her and Jiro straight out of the little alley, with a museum just across the road. The excited ghoul looked up at her date with a galaxy of stars in her eyes.

"Jiro- If you were a reptile, would you be venomous? Wait... that's not what I mean to ask! I meant: does that building say science museum anywhere? I'm scared of crossing the road, can you hold my hand? Do I look like a hooker? If I do, am I at least a pretty hooker? -ahhh sorry .... I'm really nervous........ you have really pretty eyes."

Alli seemed to have more than enough outward energy for the both of them. Even internally, Jiro could never hope to match her, but he was quite excited all the same as they stepped out into the alleyway.

The nervous rambling has him laughing once more. "Sorry. I hope it doesn't seem like I'm insulting your nerves. The way whatever comes to your mind just pours out of your mouth is just too funny." He draws her in closer to add, "and cute," before giving a quick peck to her cheek.

The facemask is raised and he takes Alli by the hand. "That's our destination, right across the street. Just stick close and you'll be okay. I won't let go. You don't look like a hooker, but some more conservative folks might think otherwise. You are very pretty, so it stands to reason that you would be a pretty hooker."

He answers all of the questions rambled at him as they cross the busy street. She once said she loved to hear him talk, so he hoped it would serve as a good distraction.

"And as a reptile, I'd probably be classified as poisonous. I have so many substances in my system at any given time, it only makes sense."

He stops walking just shy of the doors. "Here we are. That wasn't so bad, was it?" Jiro gives her hand a gentle squeeze. "You're doing great, love."

Once inside (and tickets given), Jiro takes his time looking at each exhibit, spouting off any knowledge he might have on the subject. In a way, it felt a bit like the tables have turned. The Mortkranken ghoul was giving his own tour of sorts with the medical knowledge he possessed.

The occassional tangent came along with certain tools displayed or small videos shown. And of couse, he answered any questions Alli had to the best of his ability - no matter how silly they sounded or how off-topic they were.

He couldn't remember the last time he talked so much - or the last time he wanted to.

Sometimes he caught himself, worried he was boring her. But every time he looked, she was hanging on every word it seemed.

The subject matter was fascinating and the company was even better. She had worried about the museum, but even those who didn't know him could tell he was having the time of his life.

Jiro's low and calming voice soothed Alli as the two crossed the street. She smiled at each of his answers- until he reached the one about reptiles.

"Poisonous? But not venomous? I can't think of any reppys like that off the top of my head.... Oh! But there are cases where reptiles become poisonous through what they eat! Poison's still poison even when wrapped in a treat! -in most cases, anyways."

Before she knew it, they had already made it to the other side. A sweet lightness came to Alli with Jiro's words of affirmation. All her worries, washed away like the tide returning to the ocean.

As Jiro handed the tickets over to the front desk, Alli looked through her little schedule surreptitiously. As long as there weren't any crowded exhibits or unforeseen incidents, they should have enough time to see everything the museum had to offer- spare for most of the scheduled shows. Alli let her beloved lead the way- letting him explore whatever interested him. She only cared for whatever he cared for, after all! And the reptile exhibit.... maybe the mummies too....

The curious ghoul asked any question that came to her mind. Every question. From how a tool is used to how many apples would it take to overdose a horse on vitamin C. Alli could listen to her darling talk for hours. Even days, if it wouldn't hurt his voice.

Eventually, the two made it to the long-awaited (by Alli, at least) tropical arboreal reptile exhibit. For the first time since leaving Darkwick, Alli let go of Jiro and wandered around- "ooh"ing and "ah"ing at every creature in every tank.

"Jiro! Jiro look! They have an emerald tree boa!!"

Her voice was filled with glee but Alli kept herself in a hushed tone, respecting the skittish creatures.

"Ahh look at those stripes!! Aren't they gorgeous? And such a vibrant green too! You can tell she's getting ready to shed by her cloudy eyes and flakey scales- her color must be even brighter under that old skin!- And over here, a veiled chameleon! Usually they're a bit bigger- this one must be an adolescent. Or a runt."

Alli shuffled around the humid room, admiring each creature one more time before returning to Jiro's side and taking his hand once again. Not without nuzzling his arm first, of course.

"That's all I wanted to see. Any other exhibits you wanna stop by before we go to hopefully-not-crime alley?"

Although she lets him go, Jiro still follows Alli like she's still holding on. He didn't want to miss the way her eyes lit up as she gave each little scaley friend a piece of her love and attention. Like clockwork, his eyes follow her every direction, seeking the details she spoke of. Even with her hushed voice, he could feel she was ready to jump for joy at the sight of each reptile. Hell, she'd probably take them home if she could. As he watched her take another lap around the exhibit, he got to thinking about a previous discussion. With his medical knowledge and her overall expertise in handling and care, they had discussed the possibility of going into reptile rehabilitation. See them in this museum made him wonder if they could display those that can't be released or are well enough for visitors. Education is very important after all. His daydream comes to an end when he notices Alli taking him by the hand once more. He smiles as she nuzzles into his arm. He can no longer imagine a world where that future is just a dream. "I've seen everything I've wanted to as well." He gestures toward where they came in with his free arm and a soft smile. "Shall we?" As they return to the entrance, he adds, "I doubt we'll run into trouble in an alley where there's a hole-in-the-wall business. Too much risk for exposure. But if it turns out I'm wrong, there's still no need to worry. I'll keep you safe." Even with the possibility of running into some kind of trouble, Jiro seems completely unbothered. A few humans are nothing he can't handle. Should things go south, he also has his stigma to rely on. Chances are they'll get scared and run when they're attacked by something invisible - at least as far as they're aware. They come to another crossing, but Jiro is quite prepared with another distraction. "I forgot to ask earlier, but the emerald tree boa reminded me - how often does Stephan shed? I know they use their environment to help removed the dead skin as they don't have limbs, but do you ever need to assist in the process for him?" It was something he could easily look up, but now that he knows seemingly random question-and-answer sessions are an excellent distraction, he'll be sure to have plenty in his back pocket. He'd prefer her to answer anyway. Why look through links and sort through reputable sources when he can just listen to her sweet voice instead?

Alli rubbed her face up against Jiro at his declaration of protection, like a cat marking something it liked. She was more than capable of fending for herself, even without her artifact along with her, but it was the sentiment that made her heart flutter. Though, part of her was hoping for a bit of danger.

"Stefan only sheds a few times a year. He's a full-grown adult, after all. Snakes shed more often when they're younger- that's when they grow the most! Growth leads to outgrowing old skin which leads to shedding new skin! It's always best to let your reptiles shed on their own unless the skin is stuck, especially if it's blocking their vision, hearing, or breathing. Most of my noodles can shed just fine on their own, but my other reppys that I keep outside my room are more likely to have a bit of trouble since I can't actively monitor their environment. I've thought of getting a nannycam or smart thermostat like Haru had for peekaboo... but I'd have to have a smartphone to use them. Having one has just seemed more and more necessary since I've come here. Since... I don't have Nadja always taking care of me...."

Alli's energy visibly faded- like it was sucked out of her suddenly.

"I'm sorry- I don't even know why that came to mind- Oh!! Jiro look! It's a hornets nest!!!"

And just like that, she was perky again, now staring at the marble-colored nest with her mouth in a small "o".

"What kind do you think they are? probably an Asian Giant, right? - but usually their nests are so much bigger... and higher up...."

Alli tiptoed and snatched one of the flying bugs right out of the air. She slowly unballed her fist and pinched the insect by its abdomen. The hornet buzzed and flailed, going limp after the ghoul holding it hushed her incantation.

"Jiro!! Isn't it so cute?"

She asked, holding it out for her love to see with a big smile plastered on her face.

"Oh! This is the alley that leads to the ramen shop too! They must really not get much business if hornets feel safe enough to nest here... But yay~!! we made it!!! And I was just getting tired of walking too~!!"

Alli pressed her lips to the large bug with a deliberate "mwah" sound before lifting it high and letting it buzz away. She looked back to Jiro with a bit of a concerned expression.

"Oh! You're not allergic to hornets, are you, love?"

Not even waiting for a response, she wiped her mouth with the fabric on the back of her hand, then leered at her date once more, wearing a smile like before and returning to his side.

It broke his heart when every time she mentioned her ex. Not because it was someone else she was with, but because of how she absolutely deflates every time. One of these days, they'll discuss it. But he himself doesn't know how to properly grieve. The only reason he handles his brothers' deaths so well is because of the amnesia. At least, that's what he figures. He's still a little worried when she abruptly changes the subject - but seeing how genuinely fascinated she is by the hornets eased his mind. He watches as she handles the "dangerous" insect with the same love and affection as she would with anything else in her care. "The so-called 'murder hornet,' according to the internet. That's hardly the case though. But you didn't need me to tell you that, I'm sure. But here's something possibly new for you - now that the little guy's out of earshot: Did you know that hornet larvae is a delicacy in some of Japan's mountainous regions? Some even eat the hornets themselves." Even the mostly unshakable ghoul has his reservations. "Not something I'd be eager to try myself, but necessity is the mother of all invention as they say." He leans down and presses a gentle kiss to her lips. "Believe it or not, I don't have any allergies on record. Just for future reference." His chest feels warm and fuzzy seeing the bright smile back on her face. He leads them into the alleyway, and as he expected, a place of business doesn't have much in the way of problems with most alley-bound dangers. Stepping inside, he finds them a pair of seats along the long bar table. Recalling she couldn't really read kanji, he patiently reads out each item for her, not even minding when she wants him to repeat something or go back to another dish he already read. Being the native speaker of the two, he orders her selection and asks for a small bowl for himself. Thankfully, it's not an uncommon thing for where only one person of the party is eating. He takes a moment to give a crash-course to the American transfer. "I won't be eating much, and it's a bit frowned upon for us to use the same dish, so I've got a bowl for myself to take some of the broth." He hears someone slurping their noodles nearby, giving him the opportunity for the next lesson. "While that's considered rude by American standards, this is actually quite normal - so long as it's the noodles of course. It actually helps to cool them down - from what I remember at least." In a short time, the bowls are placed in front of them. "This is going to sound silly but, could you pour some of the broth into this bowl for me? If I do it myself, there's a greater risk of rejection." The part unsaid - probably because I poisoned myself in the past. "Furthermore, how well do you do with chopsticks? I could help you if you'd like."

"Some people here... eat hornets?! I never saw that in anime.... "

Ah, Alli's one weakness when it comes to animal facts: regional culture. She could look at a creature and tell you what environment it likes, how many bones it had, what its mating rituals are, but when it came to how the creature is seen around the world? She was just as clueless as anyone else. The little tidbit genuinely surprised her- even as someone who regularly eats "uncommon" meat.

"No allergies? At all? You're just full of surprises, aren't you~!! Well so am I! Did you know I'm allergic to the color magenta? I bet you didn't know that! Unless it was in my medical records.... "

A bit of a competitive spark lit in Alli,urging her to spurt more solutions to her mysteries- but she was also eagerly curious to learn more about her beloved. First and foremost however, she was starving for some ramen. Alli stuck close to Jiro as the two walked down the alley and into the small restaurant. She awed at all the surroundings as if she'd never been in a restaurant before.

"Jiro! Do they have the soy sauce ramen? You know, like the instant ramen flavor? That one's my favorite~!!"

The curious ghoul peered at the menu in Jiro's hands as he read it out for her. Her focus was mainly on the prices as she tried to work on her knowledge of local currency.

"600 yen..... is that 6 or 60 dollars? I guess it doesn't matter- a super nice Frostheim student let me borrow her debit card~!!"

She actually had borrowed the card this time- unlike the usual where she just takes Ren's. Though.... she did have to blackmail the student for it.... Still, that's an improvement, right?

"Ooh! The slurp!! I've heard of that before! But still, you're such a smartie pants~!!"

Alli beamed at Jiro before greedily snatching the ramen bowl the moment it's placed in front of her. Eagerness to eat is polite in Japan, right?

Just as her love asked, she poured the broth into his bowl. All of it- even though he asked for a little.

"Do you need me to help you drink it too? I did bring one of my feeding syringes!! It's baby crocodile sized....you're baby crocodile sized, right?"

Alli fumbled with her chopsticks as she asked. She was going to just pretend to be bad with them so Jiro would hold her hands and help her, but her struggle turned out to be genuine. Despite the toil, she managed to get a few noodles in her mouth and slurped them down loudly. Her eyes widened as the warmth and flavor hit her tongue.

"Mhh! This is way better than instant ramen!!"

He quirks a brow at the "borrowed" card, ready to tease her about it, but she quickly covers her tracks before he can. "I don't think they'd even notice that price. That equates to..." he trails off as he calculates the exchange. "About four U.S. dollars." Jiro takes out his phone, typing a few things, then scribbling something down on a nearby napkin with a pen he keeps in his pocket. Sliding it to her, he clarifies. "Every 2 yen is a little more than 1 cent - that's the penny, right? Anyway, I hope that gives you a better idea of how much things cost." Ever since her first issue with Japanese currency, the studious ghoul taught himself about American currency. At the time, he thought that would be the simplest way to teach Alli the conversion - but with the way the American dollar was divided up, it took him longer to memorize than expected. Then, in true Jiro fashion, he forgot about the lesson.

He watches as she pours the broth into the small bowl, then as she takes her first bite. Bringing his bowl to his lips, he couldn't help but think about how one of his first meals will be a better version of one of Alli's favorite things. He sips carefully, first taking in the flavor, then to see how his stomach reacts. Jiro hadn't realized how much he tensed in that moment, but relief washes over him when there's no reaction. "This is very good." His smile almost matches hers. This brings a whole new list of things they could share. "We should visit this place more often."

"Mhh!"

Alli agreed, mouth stuffed full with noodles. She scarfed the entire bowl down with haste- so that she could continue conversing with her favorite person. The Jabberwock ghoul sloppily wiped her mouth with the fabric of her gloves before much more sanitarily dabbing Jiro's lips with a napkin.

"We should go out more often! I've been so busy with my research and critters that I haven't really had any time to explore Tokyo! The city is sooosososo pretty! Kinda reminds me of where I grew up. But... neater! -Anyways, I know you're really busy too. Just know I'll always make time for you, mkay? Always! Unless there's something really super important that requires me specifically- like a venomy baby running loose or something."

Alli adjusted the top of her dress, pulling it up a bit before asking the server for another bowl. Once again, she poured the broth into Jiro's bowl, but left a little for herself this time. However, the noodles were gone just as quickly as the last time.

"Love, have you ever been to a plant nursery before? Maybe we could go adopt a little plant baby sometime~!! But I wanna name it, alright? Unless you wanna name it! But I do really wanna name it! I have the perfect name for an aloe vera plant in mind~!!"

The cheery ghoul placed a hand over Jiro's, beaming at him like a lighthouse. She used her other hand to rest her head on, swinging her legs as she gazed lovingly at her dear Jiro.

"Do you wanna try and eat some noodles, babe? They're really good~~!!"

"Oh?" So she came from the city. He never would've expected that with how well she works with all kinds of creatures. "I never pegged you as a city girl. There's nothing wrong with that of course. Just an observation."

His next statement covers so many things he had never done in his life. "I suppose it would be accurate to call me sheltered? I come from a small community - middle of nowhere kind of place. Very secluded." There's perhaps a but more to it, but his subconcious mind warns against digging deeper.

"But I love discovering new things. If there's somewhere you want to go, or something you want to try, I'll gladly follow. If I can't participate somehow, I'll still accompany you. Part of learning is observation."

He takes a sip of the delicious broth before he confesses in a hushed tone, "I always enjoy watching you. You're so cute and lively. You could be doing something as mundane as writing. Even then, it's hard to take my eyes off of you."

A light, breathy laugh escapes him. There's so much more he could say, but it feels redundant at this point.

Alli giggled, a little surprised that Jiro didn't already know about where she grew up. But to be fair, she could hardly remember anything about her childhood let alone talk about it.

"Yeah, I grew up in the city! I remember it being suuuper industrial and stuffy. Crowded, noisy, depressing... But here in Tokyo... it's like... whoah! Everything's so pretty- so... lived in! It feels alive here!"

The foreigner was a little surprised about how much she remembered from her home town, considering she hadn't been back there for almost 10 years. The people were all a blur- but the places were much more vivid.

"Mhh- so is that a yes on the plant nursery date? Hehe~!! Really though, I'd love to take you everywhere with me. I always feel better with you around. Like I'm invincible~!!"

Alli giggled again before her face softened and her tone hushed to mimic that of Jiro's.

"You're a really good listener. And I love that about you. I love that you... you really listen to me. I don't think anyone's ever done that before."

She snuggled up to him as she spoke- once again rubbing her face on him like a cat marking its territory. Alli stayed still with her head resting on Jiro's shoulder for a few moments before peeking back up and clapping her hands together.

"I'm full! You ready to go look at the pretty arts? Cause I'm ready to go look at the pretty arts~!! I'm not ready to keep walking though.... Jiroooo~~ can you carry me~~?"

His smile is fond, delighting in the praise she showered him with. He did his best to be there for her, and he's very happy to see that his efforts have borne fruit. Of course, he has no intention of letting up. The girl leaning on his shoulder was perhaps one of the most important people in his life - certainly the most precious. "The pretty arts?" He wonders for a moment, but it isn't long before he recalls the itinerary. "Right. The street art." While his response came out a little flat, he was no less enthused and curious. But having been so close, Alli would easily recognize that. "Sorry. I'd nearly forgotten." No sooner had she asked to be carried, Jiro picked her up with ease, opting for a bridal carry. She could see where they were going, and she could keep snuggling close to him. It was ideal. The raven-haired man picks a direction and begins walking, only taking a few steps before he's hit with another realization. "I'm not sure where it is." He looks around, clutching her just a little tighter to his chest, just because he can. "Just tell me where to go and I'll get us there."

"It should be just a few streets down from the little hornet nest...I think?"

Alli took out the schedule she made, trying her best to hide it from Jiro after remembering what else she put on it. She traced her pointer finger along a crudely-drawn map as she held the paper close to her chest.

"Yup! Just gotta take a left once we reach the crossroad!"

She chirped, folding the paper back up and returning it to her stocking before making sure the fabric of her dress was sufficiently covering her core. - And then it was back to snuggling her beloved.

"Mmh... it's getting kinda dark out.... hopefully we'll still be able to see the street art...- Speaking of~~ I have a little surprise planned for afterwards~!!"

The Jabberwock girl had completely forgotten about her "surprise" and she was a little unsure if they'd have enough time for it- but she didn't want to rush Jiro. Besides, the street art was what she was looking forward to the most.

Once the two had arrived, Alli jumped out of her boyfriend's arms and right towards a graffitied wall. She awed at the art: a woman with a fish for the upper half eating a hamburger.

"Jiro!! It's so pretty!! What do you think it represents?"

Without giving him time to answer she rushed to the next piece and stared at it with the same astoundment even though it was just a doodled penis with doodled flowers shooting out of the tip.

The girl returned to her love and grabbed him by the wrist to drag him off to the next piece.

"Jiro!! look look! This one's so pretty!!!!"

Everything feels like a whirlwind, but something about that chaos was a fun sort of exciting. Alli practically leaps out of his arms and rushes to the graffiti. He's not sure what to make of it. Out of the three brothers, the artistic gene seems to have skipped right over him, being divided among the other two (with Taro monopolizing most of it). Being asked the question he dreaded, he's never happier for her short attention span than in this moment. Before he can think, he's being dragged (willingly) to the next piece. It's far less detailed than the previous, but it somehow makes more sense to him - but that's more from a biology standpoint. "I'm not sure of their intention, but it's reminiscent of procreation. Perhaps it's a play on the term 'seed' being used for semen?" That's all he's got. As far as art and poetry goes anyway. The walls of the alleyway almost serve as a sort of crass art gallery. Everything ranging from complex pieces, to simple doodles, to statements - all ranging from thoughtful, to silly, to downright crass. A part of him can't help but wonder what Taro's interpretations would be. Especially of the fish-woman eating a burger. Standing behind her as he looks around, Jiro wraps his arms around Alli, resting his head on top of hers simply because he can. After a few moments of silent (well, he is anyway) admiration, he recalls something she mentioned moments ago. "You said you had something for me?"

The Jabberwock girl blissfully hummed at the physical contact. Right now was amazing. She was surrounded by pretty art with a full stomach, wearing a nice dress while being cuddled by the man she loves the most. But she still had one surprise left.

"Hm! Oh right! This way!!!"

Alli grabbed her lover's hand and sprinted down one of the alleyways- a surprising feat considering the shape and length of her high heels- making a grand gesture with her hands as she got to the end and turned a corner back into one of the main streets. She didn't know if she was at the right building- but it had a pretty pink tree in front of it just like her map said.

"It's a tea shop!!! I think!! I heard they sell all kinds of blends here! And they give free samples~~!!"

She cooed, giving Jiro's hand a gentle squeeze.

The shop was far fancier than her understanding of tea went. Inside there were all kinds of special cups and strainers and whisks. Teapots with ornate designs and precise measurements, tea blends with flavors she'd never heard of before, prices that were at least thrice as pricey as what was being sold at the ramen shop.

Something about the quaint store was extremely mellowing and inviting. Alli took a deep breath in, savoring the fragrant air, before speaking again.

"This place is so zen!! Oh! Do you think they have the magical tea? The stuff that changes color? I know they have the chocolate stuff- this is where I ordered it from- but I didn't really get a chance to look at the other flavors... at least that means we get to explore it together~!!"

Feeling the tug on his arm, he runs behind her, ready to pull back should she start to trip with those shoes. Thanks to his longer gait, he didn't have to put forth as much effort to keep up. The traditional tea shop was probably the most familiar thing to him from his youth that he's seen in the outside world in many years. His family was far from wealthy, but many such styles and blends were commonplace where he came from. There was still novelty to be had in the quaint shop. Cups, kettles, pots, whisks and strainers came in a wide variety of styles and materials. Tea blends ranged from simple and traditional to more experimental and modern. The blend of comforting familiarity and thrilling discovery made this a place that he would remember for future visits. "Color changing tea?" His head cocks to the side. "I've never heard of that before, but I'd be willing to try it." Jiro slowly walks around the small store, still holding on to Alli's hand - soft and warm in his grasp. He marvels at the selection, trying his best to take note of pre-existing blends to try. Before long, he's at the counter asking about the samples - as well as that magic tea Alli mentioned. The two converse a bit as Jiro asks various questions about their sources and rotating stock - all so he can stop in to try new things with more efficiency. R&R passes didn't exactly grow on trees. A couple of small bags are placed on the counter - some things that he already ordered as they spoke. As for the magic tea... "It looks like they have it in stock. A new shipment came in today, but they haven't had the chance to rotate what's on the shelves." The shopkeep hands him two small cups of colorful liquid. "Here. I asked for a sample. I didn't want to buy one for myself if I didn't like it." He hands her one of the cups with a kiss on the forehead. "I hope you didn't feel like I was ignoring you. I just had a few questions since I'd like to come back here sometime." His expression softens once more. "Thank you, Alli. This is a wonderful surprise and I'm even happier that I can share it with you."

Alli takes the tea cup, smiling cheerfully.

"Mmh! I'm glad you like it here~!! You've been having fun today, yeah? Would you say it's been.... the best date ever?!"

The Jabberwock ghoul giggled before taking a sip of sample tea. What was this stuff called again? Butterfly something? Does that mean there's butterflies in it?

"This.... this tastes like nothing!! Where's all the flavor?!"

Alli yelped, pouting in-between large audible sips with a furrowed brow.

"This tastes like smelling a leaf with a stuffy nose!"

She sharply whispered, trying to say conscious of the small shop. Despite her complaining, she had quickly drank every last drop in the cup.

"I don't like this stuff... it's not very strong. I hope you'll enjoy it at least...."

Alli grumbled and leaned into Jiro, masking her disatisfied groans into his chest as she hugged him weakly. Her groans almost immediately turned into happy hums as she sank into the comfort of her love's body.

"Mmh... I'm glad we got to see some of the city today! And I'm ultra glad I got to see it with you~!! -There's no one else I'd rather spend my time with."

She purred, nuzzling Jiro with softly shut eyes. Alli isn't proud of herself too often - but she did good with this date. Now she just needs to come up with something even better for the next time they go out....

Jiro!! u redy for the best date everr???

Alli sent her text, waiting in the Mortkranken lobby. She had showed up half an hour early- later than she wanted to due to some last-minute Jabberwock work. At least the little incident would make for good conversation.

She was intently checking through the schedule she made like it was the most important document she's ever had to check. At this moment, it was. Burning every detail into her brain one last time, she folded up the small piece of paper and tucked it into her black thigh-high stockings which fit just a bit too tightly along with the rest of her outfit. Alli had showed up in a crimson velvet bodycon dress with slit exploded her entire left thigh. A dress that was perhaps a bit too dressy for a science museum... but when has she ever cared about being too dressy?

Alli adjusted her long sheer black gloves before flicking open her phone and checking her hair one last time. She had tried to calm her messy hair the best she could for the occasion, pulling most of her hair back into a low ponytail that rested on her left shoulder, but her poofy fringe still stuck out like fireworks. The girl had even tried to do her makeup a little differently by using a smokey brown color for her eyeshadow instead of the usual black. But of course, her hazel eyes were still tightly lined in a dark black.

She fidgeted with the ruffles on her dress slit as she bounced her leg, causing her black high heels to click on the floor. She totally was too dressed up... wasn't she? Alli sighed and closed her phone before hooking it on one of the chains around her waist. In the meantime, she'd occupy herself with counting the number tiles on the floor.

Jiro had just sat down with Yuri when his phone buzzes in his pocket. He holds his arm steady for the doctor as he reads the brief message.

It's a bit awkward, but he types with his non-dominant hand:

"Just finishing up treatment. I'll be there shortly."

It's not long after that he emerges from the lab and into the lounge where Alli was waiting. He was dressed a little nicer than usual - as advised by his captain. The dark coat and turtleneck covered his scars with ease, though he still kept the face mask on his chin - ready for when they arrived in more crowded conditions.

Jiro is left in a momentary daze as he takes in the sight of his girlfriend. She was dressed up nicely, but it was still very much her style. His eyes couldn't help but trace along the exposed skin at the slit of the dress. It danced somewhere on the border of elegant and sexy.

When he finds his voice again he compliments, "You look amazing, love. I was wondering what you had in mind, but this is beyond my expectations." The smile plastered on his face sang of his approval.

He could make a comment about how uncomfortable her shoes might become, but that would just open up an opportunity for him to carry her around. He liked the idea of holding her close to him, much like a child would hug their favorite stuffed animal.

He extends his hand to her. "To answer your earlier question, I am indeed ready for the best date ever."

His expression softens as a tinge of pink dusts his cheeks. "I'm lucky to have the most beautiful tour guide to take me on such an experience."

Alli perked up the moment she saw her beloved, reflecting the same look of awe he had with twice the speechlessness. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before taking Jiro's hand and pulling him (or more so, herself) into a kiss with her free arm hung around his shoulder. Alli didn't usually wear lip products due to her piercings, but she decided to apply some cherry lipgloss for the occasion and wanted to share the taste before her gluttony got the better of her.

"I- um.... I made you something! I know the guy is supposed to give the girl something for white day but I just couldn't resist giving you another treat~!!"

Recovering from her flustered state, Alli pulls a few microscopic slides out of her gloves like a magician doing a card trick. Inside each one is a tiny pressed flower petal.

"Each flower is one of the letters in your name.... written in english... I got jasmine, iris, rose, and orchid. I was working on doing your family name too... but I couldn't get it done in time."

The ghoul pouted and hung her head before quickly doing her usual emotional 180 and lifting herself up with a bright smile and peppy hop.

"I'm so excited for tonight! I made a whole schedule~!! Oh! I also brought some painkillers in case you start feeling icky. Those will help, right? Or should I have brought my stronger stuff? Aw fuck- I didn't even consider how they might collide with your other meds... it's okay! I know how to do CPR! on canines.... "

Alli quickly pecked Jiro on the cheek before adjusting her dress and leading him outside. She was pretty sure she remembered the way to the Galaxy Express.... but just in case, she let her lover lead the way.

Out of nothing but pure habit, Jiro holds each of the slides by their edges as he examines each one. "Quite a literal take on Hanatoba - and excellent use of slides. I very much look forward to seeing the completed project." The warmth an excitement was visible on his face. For those that knew what to look for, he looked positively ecstatic. "In fact, that gives me an idea..." he mutters to himself. Someone like Alli would probably appreciate sealed bacterial cultures arranged to spell her name - in much the same fashion as she did with the pressed flowers. Before he knew it, the pep came right back into her step several hundred fold - which was nothing unusual. Jiro couldn't help but laugh every time she went on one of her high-energy tangents. It wasn't always easy to follow, but very entertaining to watch. As they made their way to the Galaxy Express, Jiro shares what's on his mind. "I appreciate the thought, but I should be okay. The regular injections I take cover most possible ailments. For everything else, I have a couple of formulas I can take. They're pretty last-resort though since I have a hard time keeping it down." He frowns a bit. "I'd ask you to help me, but my stigma would poison you in the process." He gives her hand a brief squeeze before relaxing again. "I'd feel quite guilty if that happened." There are ways that it becomes more of a benefit, but that's a discussion for much later - when they have the time and the privacy to experiment. Jiro doesn't let go of her hand, even as they scan their smartphones for entry. He just wants to spend this day as close to his love as he possibly can. After all, with their busy schedules, it's hard to find time to just be with each other. Although they're the only ones on board the train, Jiro pulls Alli close, draping his arm over her shoulder as they sit side-by-side. "Thank you for all of this. Truly." He presses a gentle kiss to the top of her head. "You really spoil me, you know that?"

"Right!! Your stigma!! You gotta tell me more about sometime, mkay? I'm super curious~!! Oh! Do you think if I used my stigma on you, it'd reflect right back to me? Probably not since it's a mental thing, right? Anyways- I'm glad i didn't bring my stronger-and-less-legal painkillers then~!!"

Alli kept herself tightly latched onto Jiro's arm until the two sat down, nuzzling it every so often on the way. He had probably noticed by now, but she has a bit of a fascination with the way he smelled. He smelled safe. Calming. Clean, too.

She looked up at him with her doe eyes, (Allister Doe eyes, if you will!) as he kissed her, fluttering her eyelashes as her mouth perked into a wide smile.

"I spoil you because you deserve it all! You deserve the world! You deserve everything I could ever give you and more. And also because I love making things for you~!! It's nice, you know? Really nice. - to have someone to adore, I mean. And for you to love me back is just.... pshew!"

The ghoul made an explosion gesture with her hands to emphasize the onomatopoeia. Most days she still couldn't believe someone as wonderful as Jiro could actually love her... but today was a rare occasion where her doubts didn't burden her. Perhaps all the excitement was blocking the doom and gloom.

Nuzzling her love again, she interlocked her fingers with the arm slung over her.

"Your hands are cold..."

Alli mumbled, breathing hot air onto Jiro's hand before untangling it from around her and holding it close to her chest. She greedily grabbed his other hand and took it to the same spot as she alternated between rubbing his hands with hers and letting out a warm breath on his digits, adding some kisses in every now and then too.

"Maybe next I'll get you a heat lamp. A giant, Jiro-sized heat lamp. But of course, a heat lamp wouldn't be complete without a basking rock. Or maybe you'd prefer a log? Rocks hold the temperature better though...."

The Jabberwock ghoul began to trail off, planning out an entire enclosure for Jiro as if he were one of her snakes. But would he be a snake? He seemed more akin to a giant lizard... Maybe something like a monitor lizard? Or gila monster? Oh, he'd be such a cute lizard...

"Oh! Jiro! Let's take a selfie!!!"

Alli suggested abruptly, but she was already rummaging through her purse. From her bag she produced a small digital camera that looked to be just as dated as her cellphone.

"Can you take the photo pretty please~? Your arms are wayyyy longer than mine!"

Unconsciously, Jiro nuzzles against Alli's head as she warms his hands. There's just something about the care, and concern, and action that makes him act a little more affectionate in response. While a bit unusual, it was endearing to hear her talk about caring for him like one of her reptiles. Logistically, it would never work, but just the thought that she's so willing to care for him... As someone who needs a little extra care, it eases his concern of putting too much on her shoulders. While she could never medically treat him, she would likely need to pick up his slack whenever he was out of commission - which was far more often than he'd like. The rather abrupt suggestion snaps him out of his brief reverie. "I could give it a shot. It's this button, right?" It was such a simple request, but it made her so happy. So rather than pull out his own cellphone to make it easier, he uses the camera as asked. "How do you even know if it's in the correct position," he mumbles, thinking aloud. "Is this okay?" He looks over expectantly, either awaiting confirmation or direction.

"Mmh-hm! That's it! Say cheese~!! -actually don't. Mouthing "Tuesday" gives better results! Press the buttons a few times too- more photos means more chance for them to be good! That's how the math works... right?"

Alli shut her lips for a moment only for them to be reopened by a teethy smile. One of her hands was occupied with a peace sign while the other softly caressed her lover's cheek- gestures which quickly changed after each "click" of the camera.

"Thank you, baby~!! I'll upload these to my computer and send you them later, mkay?"

She gingerly took the device from Jiro, looking through the photos with a smile of content. Almost immediately after putting away her camera did the PA system announce their arrival at their destination. Alli stood up with spunk, firmly interlacing her hand with Jiro's once again, now satisfied with their warmth. The Jabberwock ghoul wobbled a bit with the stopping of the train, but it did nothing to seize her swinging arm and rising and falling heels.

"Ahh~!! I'm so excited! You're gonna love this place! -I hope... if you don't, I'll just take you on a better date! I'll keep trying until I get it right, I promise!"

Alli kissed Jiro's cheek - as if to seal that promise-before dashing out the train into the anamalous void- like zone.

"Oh! I forgot it's like this! Um... this is the way out, right?"

She didn't wait for an answer before swinging open a door that stood before her- a possibly reckless move if it didn't just lead to a Tokyo alleyway. Her spirited steps took her and Jiro straight out of the little alley, with a museum just across the road. The excited ghoul looked up at her date with a galaxy of stars in her eyes.

"Jiro- If you were a reptile, would you be venomous? Wait... that's not what I mean to ask! I meant: does that building say science museum anywhere? I'm scared of crossing the road, can you hold my hand? Do I look like a hooker? If I do, am I at least a pretty hooker? -ahhh sorry .... I'm really nervous........ you have really pretty eyes."

Alli seemed to have more than enough outward energy for the both of them. Even internally, Jiro could never hope to match her, but he was quite excited all the same as they stepped out into the alleyway.

The nervous rambling has him laughing once more. "Sorry. I hope it doesn't seem like I'm insulting your nerves. The way whatever comes to your mind just pours out of your mouth is just too funny." He draws her in closer to add, "and cute," before giving a quick peck to her cheek.

The facemask is raised and he takes Alli by the hand. "That's our destination, right across the street. Just stick close and you'll be okay. I won't let go. You don't look like a hooker, but some more conservative folks might think otherwise. You are very pretty, so it stands to reason that you would be a pretty hooker."

He answers all of the questions rambled at him as they cross the busy street. She once said she loved to hear him talk, so he hoped it would serve as a good distraction.

"And as a reptile, I'd probably be classified as poisonous. I have so many substances in my system at any given time, it only makes sense."

He stops walking just shy of the doors. "Here we are. That wasn't so bad, was it?" Jiro gives her hand a gentle squeeze. "You're doing great, love."

Once inside (and tickets given), Jiro takes his time looking at each exhibit, spouting off any knowledge he might have on the subject. In a way, it felt a bit like the tables have turned. The Mortkranken ghoul was giving his own tour of sorts with the medical knowledge he possessed.

The occassional tangent came along with certain tools displayed or small videos shown. And of couse, he answered any questions Alli had to the best of his ability - no matter how silly they sounded or how off-topic they were.

He couldn't remember the last time he talked so much - or the last time he wanted to.

Sometimes he caught himself, worried he was boring her. But every time he looked, she was hanging on every word it seemed.

The subject matter was fascinating and the company was even better. She had worried about the museum, but even those who didn't know him could tell he was having the time of his life.

Jiro's low and calming voice soothed Alli as the two crossed the street. She smiled at each of his answers- until he reached the one about reptiles.

"Poisonous? But not venomous? I can't think of any reppys like that off the top of my head.... Oh! But there are cases where reptiles become poisonous through what they eat! Poison's still poison even when wrapped in a treat! -in most cases, anyways."

Before she knew it, they had already made it to the other side. A sweet lightness came to Alli with Jiro's words of affirmation. All her worries, washed away like the tide returning to the ocean.

As Jiro handed the tickets over to the front desk, Alli looked through her little schedule surreptitiously. As long as there weren't any crowded exhibits or unforeseen incidents, they should have enough time to see everything the museum had to offer- spare for most of the scheduled shows. Alli let her beloved lead the way- letting him explore whatever interested him. She only cared for whatever he cared for, after all! And the reptile exhibit.... maybe the mummies too....

The curious ghoul asked any question that came to her mind. Every question. From how a tool is used to how many apples would it take to overdose a horse on vitamin C. Alli could listen to her darling talk for hours. Even days, if it wouldn't hurt his voice.

Eventually, the two made it to the long-awaited (by Alli, at least) tropical arboreal reptile exhibit. For the first time since leaving Darkwick, Alli let go of Jiro and wandered around- "ooh"ing and "ah"ing at every creature in every tank.

"Jiro! Jiro look! They have an emerald tree boa!!"

Her voice was filled with glee but Alli kept herself in a hushed tone, respecting the skittish creatures.

"Ahh look at those stripes!! Aren't they gorgeous? And such a vibrant green too! You can tell she's getting ready to shed by her cloudy eyes and flakey scales- her color must be even brighter under that old skin!- And over here, a veiled chameleon! Usually they're a bit bigger- this one must be an adolescent. Or a runt."

Alli shuffled around the humid room, admiring each creature one more time before returning to Jiro's side and taking his hand once again. Not without nuzzling his arm first, of course.

"That's all I wanted to see. Any other exhibits you wanna stop by before we go to hopefully-not-crime alley?"

Although she lets him go, Jiro still follows Alli like she's still holding on. He didn't want to miss the way her eyes lit up as she gave each little scaley friend a piece of her love and attention. Like clockwork, his eyes follow her every direction, seeking the details she spoke of. Even with her hushed voice, he could feel she was ready to jump for joy at the sight of each reptile. Hell, she'd probably take them home if she could. As he watched her take another lap around the exhibit, he got to thinking about a previous discussion. With his medical knowledge and her overall expertise in handling and care, they had discussed the possibility of going into reptile rehabilitation. See them in this museum made him wonder if they could display those that can't be released or are well enough for visitors. Education is very important after all. His daydream comes to an end when he notices Alli taking him by the hand once more. He smiles as she nuzzles into his arm. He can no longer imagine a world where that future is just a dream. "I've seen everything I've wanted to as well." He gestures toward where they came in with his free arm and a soft smile. "Shall we?" As they return to the entrance, he adds, "I doubt we'll run into trouble in an alley where there's a hole-in-the-wall business. Too much risk for exposure. But if it turns out I'm wrong, there's still no need to worry. I'll keep you safe." Even with the possibility of running into some kind of trouble, Jiro seems completely unbothered. A few humans are nothing he can't handle. Should things go south, he also has his stigma to rely on. Chances are they'll get scared and run when they're attacked by something invisible - at least as far as they're aware. They come to another crossing, but Jiro is quite prepared with another distraction. "I forgot to ask earlier, but the emerald tree boa reminded me - how often does Stephan shed? I know they use their environment to help removed the dead skin as they don't have limbs, but do you ever need to assist in the process for him?" It was something he could easily look up, but now that he knows seemingly random question-and-answer sessions are an excellent distraction, he'll be sure to have plenty in his back pocket. He'd prefer her to answer anyway. Why look through links and sort through reputable sources when he can just listen to her sweet voice instead?

Alli rubbed her face up against Jiro at his declaration of protection, like a cat marking something it liked. She was more than capable of fending for herself, even without her artifact along with her, but it was the sentiment that made her heart flutter. Though, part of her was hoping for a bit of danger.

"Stefan only sheds a few times a year. He's a full-grown adult, after all. Snakes shed more often when they're younger- that's when they grow the most! Growth leads to outgrowing old skin which leads to shedding new skin! It's always best to let your reptiles shed on their own unless the skin is stuck, especially if it's blocking their vision, hearing, or breathing. Most of my noodles can shed just fine on their own, but my other reppys that I keep outside my room are more likely to have a bit of trouble since I can't actively monitor their environment. I've thought of getting a nannycam or smart thermostat like Haru had for peekaboo... but I'd have to have a smartphone to use them. Having one has just seemed more and more necessary since I've come here. Since... I don't have Nadja always taking care of me...."

Alli's energy visibly faded- like it was sucked out of her suddenly.

"I'm sorry- I don't even know why that came to mind- Oh!! Jiro look! It's a hornets nest!!!"

And just like that, she was perky again, now staring at the marble-colored nest with her mouth in a small "o".

"What kind do you think they are? probably an Asian Giant, right? - but usually their nests are so much bigger... and higher up...."

Alli tiptoed and snatched one of the flying bugs right out of the air. She slowly unballed her fist and pinched the insect by its abdomen. The hornet buzzed and flailed, going limp after the ghoul holding it hushed her incantation.

"Jiro!! Isn't it so cute?"

She asked, holding it out for her love to see with a big smile plastered on her face.

"Oh! This is the alley that leads to the ramen shop too! They must really not get much business if hornets feel safe enough to nest here... But yay~!! we made it!!! And I was just getting tired of walking too~!!"

Alli pressed her lips to the large bug with a deliberate "mwah" sound before lifting it high and letting it buzz away. She looked back to Jiro with a bit of a concerned expression.

"Oh! You're not allergic to hornets, are you, love?"

Not even waiting for a response, she wiped her mouth with the fabric on the back of her hand, then leered at her date once more, wearing a smile like before and returning to his side.

It broke his heart when every time she mentioned her ex. Not because it was someone else she was with, but because of how she absolutely deflates every time. One of these days, they'll discuss it. But he himself doesn't know how to properly grieve. The only reason he handles his brothers' deaths so well is because of the amnesia. At least, that's what he figures. He's still a little worried when she abruptly changes the subject - but seeing how genuinely fascinated she is by the hornets eased his mind. He watches as she handles the "dangerous" insect with the same love and affection as she would with anything else in her care. "The so-called 'murder hornet,' according to the internet. That's hardly the case though. But you didn't need me to tell you that, I'm sure. But here's something possibly new for you - now that the little guy's out of earshot: Did you know that hornet larvae is a delicacy in some of Japan's mountainous regions? Some even eat the hornets themselves." Even the mostly unshakable ghoul has his reservations. "Not something I'd be eager to try myself, but necessity is the mother of all invention as they say." He leans down and presses a gentle kiss to her lips. "Believe it or not, I don't have any allergies on record. Just for future reference." His chest feels warm and fuzzy seeing the bright smile back on her face. He leads them into the alleyway, and as he expected, a place of business doesn't have much in the way of problems with most alley-bound dangers. Stepping inside, he finds them a pair of seats along the long bar table. Recalling she couldn't really read kanji, he patiently reads out each item for her, not even minding when she wants him to repeat something or go back to another dish he already read. Being the native speaker of the two, he orders her selection and asks for a small bowl for himself. Thankfully, it's not an uncommon thing for where only one person of the party is eating. He takes a moment to give a crash-course to the American transfer. "I won't be eating much, and it's a bit frowned upon for us to use the same dish, so I've got a bowl for myself to take some of the broth." He hears someone slurping their noodles nearby, giving him the opportunity for the next lesson. "While that's considered rude by American standards, this is actually quite normal - so long as it's the noodles of course. It actually helps to cool them down - from what I remember at least." In a short time, the bowls are placed in front of them. "This is going to sound silly but, could you pour some of the broth into this bowl for me? If I do it myself, there's a greater risk of rejection." The part unsaid - probably because I poisoned myself in the past. "Furthermore, how well do you do with chopsticks? I could help you if you'd like."

"Some people here... eat hornets?! I never saw that in anime.... "

Ah, Alli's one weakness when it comes to animal facts: regional culture. She could look at a creature and tell you what environment it likes, how many bones it had, what its mating rituals are, but when it came to how the creature is seen around the world? She was just as clueless as anyone else. The little tidbit genuinely surprised her- even as someone who regularly eats "uncommon" meat.

"No allergies? At all? You're just full of surprises, aren't you~!! Well so am I! Did you know I'm allergic to the color magenta? I bet you didn't know that! Unless it was in my medical records.... "

A bit of a competitive spark lit in Alli,urging her to spurt more solutions to her mysteries- but she was also eagerly curious to learn more about her beloved. First and foremost however, she was starving for some ramen. Alli stuck close to Jiro as the two walked down the alley and into the small restaurant. She awed at all the surroundings as if she'd never been in a restaurant before.

"Jiro! Do they have the soy sauce ramen? You know, like the instant ramen flavor? That one's my favorite~!!"

The curious ghoul peered at the menu in Jiro's hands as he read it out for her. Her focus was mainly on the prices as she tried to work on her knowledge of local currency.

"600 yen..... is that 6 or 60 dollars? I guess it doesn't matter- a super nice Frostheim student let me borrow her debit card~!!"

She actually had borrowed the card this time- unlike the usual where she just takes Ren's. Though.... she did have to blackmail the student for it.... Still, that's an improvement, right?

"Ooh! The slurp!! I've heard of that before! But still, you're such a smartie pants~!!"

Alli beamed at Jiro before greedily snatching the ramen bowl the moment it's placed in front of her. Eagerness to eat is polite in Japan, right?

Just as her love asked, she poured the broth into his bowl. All of it- even though he asked for a little.

"Do you need me to help you drink it too? I did bring one of my feeding syringes!! It's baby crocodile sized....you're baby crocodile sized, right?"

Alli fumbled with her chopsticks as she asked. She was going to just pretend to be bad with them so Jiro would hold her hands and help her, but her struggle turned out to be genuine. Despite the toil, she managed to get a few noodles in her mouth and slurped them down loudly. Her eyes widened as the warmth and flavor hit her tongue.

"Mhh! This is way better than instant ramen!!"

He quirks a brow at the "borrowed" card, ready to tease her about it, but she quickly covers her tracks before he can. "I don't think they'd even notice that price. That equates to..." he trails off as he calculates the exchange. "About four U.S. dollars." Jiro takes out his phone, typing a few things, then scribbling something down on a nearby napkin with a pen he keeps in his pocket. Sliding it to her, he clarifies. "Every 2 yen is a little more than 1 cent - that's the penny, right? Anyway, I hope that gives you a better idea of how much things cost." Ever since her first issue with Japanese currency, the studious ghoul taught himself about American currency. At the time, he thought that would be the simplest way to teach Alli the conversion - but with the way the American dollar was divided up, it took him longer to memorize than expected. Then, in true Jiro fashion, he forgot about the lesson.

He watches as she pours the broth into the small bowl, then as she takes her first bite. Bringing his bowl to his lips, he couldn't help but think about how one of his first meals will be a better version of one of Alli's favorite things. He sips carefully, first taking in the flavor, then to see how his stomach reacts. Jiro hadn't realized how much he tensed in that moment, but relief washes over him when there's no reaction. "This is very good." His smile almost matches hers. This brings a whole new list of things they could share. "We should visit this place more often."

"Mhh!"

Alli agreed, mouth stuffed full with noodles. She scarfed the entire bowl down with haste- so that she could continue conversing with her favorite person. The Jabberwock ghoul sloppily wiped her mouth with the fabric of her gloves before much more sanitarily dabbing Jiro's lips with a napkin.

"We should go out more often! I've been so busy with my research and critters that I haven't really had any time to explore Tokyo! The city is sooosososo pretty! Kinda reminds me of where I grew up. But... neater! -Anyways, I know you're really busy too. Just know I'll always make time for you, mkay? Always! Unless there's something really super important that requires me specifically- like a venomy baby running loose or something."

Alli adjusted the top of her dress, pulling it up a bit before asking the server for another bowl. Once again, she poured the broth into Jiro's bowl, but left a little for herself this time. However, the noodles were gone just as quickly as the last time.

"Love, have you ever been to a plant nursery before? Maybe we could go adopt a little plant baby sometime~!! But I wanna name it, alright? Unless you wanna name it! But I do really wanna name it! I have the perfect name for an aloe vera plant in mind~!!"

The cheery ghoul placed a hand over Jiro's, beaming at him like a lighthouse. She used her other hand to rest her head on, swinging her legs as she gazed lovingly at her dear Jiro.

"Do you wanna try and eat some noodles, babe? They're really good~~!!"

"Oh?" So she came from the city. He never would've expected that with how well she works with all kinds of creatures. "I never pegged you as a city girl. There's nothing wrong with that of course. Just an observation."

His next statement covers so many things he had never done in his life. "I suppose it would be accurate to call me sheltered? I come from a small community - middle of nowhere kind of place. Very secluded." There's perhaps a but more to it, but his subconcious mind warns against digging deeper.

"But I love discovering new things. If there's somewhere you want to go, or something you want to try, I'll gladly follow. If I can't participate somehow, I'll still accompany you. Part of learning is observation."

He takes a sip of the delicious broth before he confesses in a hushed tone, "I always enjoy watching you. You're so cute and lively. You could be doing something as mundane as writing. Even then, it's hard to take my eyes off of you."

A light, breathy laugh escapes him. There's so much more he could say, but it feels redundant at this point.

Alli giggled, a little surprised that Jiro didn't already know about where she grew up. But to be fair, she could hardly remember anything about her childhood let alone talk about it.

"Yeah, I grew up in the city! I remember it being suuuper industrial and stuffy. Crowded, noisy, depressing... But here in Tokyo... it's like... whoah! Everything's so pretty- so... lived in! It feels alive here!"

The foreigner was a little surprised about how much she remembered from her home town, considering she hadn't been back there for almost 10 years. The people were all a blur- but the places were much more vivid.

"Mhh- so is that a yes on the plant nursery date? Hehe~!! Really though, I'd love to take you everywhere with me. I always feel better with you around. Like I'm invincible~!!"

Alli giggled again before her face softened and her tone hushed to mimic that of Jiro's.

"You're a really good listener. And I love that about you. I love that you... you really listen to me. I don't think anyone's ever done that before."

She snuggled up to him as she spoke- once again rubbing her face on him like a cat marking its territory. Alli stayed still with her head resting on Jiro's shoulder for a few moments before peeking back up and clapping her hands together.

"I'm full! You ready to go look at the pretty arts? Cause I'm ready to go look at the pretty arts~!! I'm not ready to keep walking though.... Jiroooo~~ can you carry me~~?"

His smile is fond, delighting in the praise she showered him with. He did his best to be there for her, and he's very happy to see that his efforts have borne fruit. Of course, he has no intention of letting up. The girl leaning on his shoulder was perhaps one of the most important people in his life - certainly the most precious. "The pretty arts?" He wonders for a moment, but it isn't long before he recalls the itinerary. "Right. The street art." While his response came out a little flat, he was no less enthused and curious. But having been so close, Alli would easily recognize that. "Sorry. I'd nearly forgotten." No sooner had she asked to be carried, Jiro picked her up with ease, opting for a bridal carry. She could see where they were going, and she could keep snuggling close to him. It was ideal. The raven-haired man picks a direction and begins walking, only taking a few steps before he's hit with another realization. "I'm not sure where it is." He looks around, clutching her just a little tighter to his chest, just because he can. "Just tell me where to go and I'll get us there."

"It should be just a few streets down from the little hornet nest...I think?"

Alli took out the schedule she made, trying her best to hide it from Jiro after remembering what else she put on it. She traced her pointer finger along a crudely-drawn map as she held the paper close to her chest.

"Yup! Just gotta take a left once we reach the crossroad!"

She chirped, folding the paper back up and returning it to her stocking before making sure the fabric of her dress was sufficiently covering her core. - And then it was back to snuggling her beloved.

"Mmh... it's getting kinda dark out.... hopefully we'll still be able to see the street art...- Speaking of~~ I have a little surprise planned for afterwards~!!"

The Jabberwock girl had completely forgotten about her "surprise" and she was a little unsure if they'd have enough time for it- but she didn't want to rush Jiro. Besides, the street art was what she was looking forward to the most.

Once the two had arrived, Alli jumped out of her boyfriend's arms and right towards a graffitied wall. She awed at the art: a woman with a fish for the upper half eating a hamburger.

"Jiro!! It's so pretty!! What do you think it represents?"

Without giving him time to answer she rushed to the next piece and stared at it with the same astoundment even though it was just a doodled penis with doodled flowers shooting out of the tip.

The girl returned to her love and grabbed him by the wrist to drag him off to the next piece.

"Jiro!! look look! This one's so pretty!!!!"

Everything feels like a whirlwind, but something about that chaos was a fun sort of exciting. Alli practically leaps out of his arms and rushes to the graffiti. He's not sure what to make of it. Out of the three brothers, the artistic gene seems to have skipped right over him, being divided among the other two (with Taro monopolizing most of it). Being asked the question he dreaded, he's never happier for her short attention span than in this moment. Before he can think, he's being dragged (willingly) to the next piece. It's far less detailed than the previous, but it somehow makes more sense to him - but that's more from a biology standpoint. "I'm not sure of their intention, but it's reminiscent of procreation. Perhaps it's a play on the term 'seed' being used for semen?" That's all he's got. As far as art and poetry goes anyway. The walls of the alleyway almost serve as a sort of crass art gallery. Everything ranging from complex pieces, to simple doodles, to statements - all ranging from thoughtful, to silly, to downright crass. A part of him can't help but wonder what Taro's interpretations would be. Especially of the fish-woman eating a burger. Standing behind her as he looks around, Jiro wraps his arms around Alli, resting his head on top of hers simply because he can. After a few moments of silent (well, he is anyway) admiration, he recalls something she mentioned moments ago. "You said you had something for me?"

The Jabberwock girl blissfully hummed at the physical contact. Right now was amazing. She was surrounded by pretty art with a full stomach, wearing a nice dress while being cuddled by the man she loves the most. But she still had one surprise left.

"Hm! Oh right! This way!!!"

Alli grabbed her lover's hand and sprinted down one of the alleyways- a surprising feat considering the shape and length of her high heels- making a grand gesture with her hands as she got to the end and turned a corner back into one of the main streets. She didn't know if she was at the right building- but it had a pretty pink tree in front of it just like her map said.

"It's a tea shop!!! I think!! I heard they sell all kinds of blends here! And they give free samples~~!!"

She cooed, giving Jiro's hand a gentle squeeze.

The shop was far fancier than her understanding of tea went. Inside there were all kinds of special cups and strainers and whisks. Teapots with ornate designs and precise measurements, tea blends with flavors she'd never heard of before, prices that were at least thrice as pricey as what was being sold at the ramen shop.

Something about the quaint store was extremely mellowing and inviting. Alli took a deep breath in, savoring the fragrant air, before speaking again.

"This place is so zen!! Oh! Do you think they have the magical tea? The stuff that changes color? I know they have the chocolate stuff- this is where I ordered it from- but I didn't really get a chance to look at the other flavors... at least that means we get to explore it together~!!"

Alli sent her text, waiting in the Mortkranken lobby. She had showed up half an hour early- later than she wanted to due to some last-minute Jabberwock work. At least the little incident would make for good conversation.

She was intently checking through the schedule she made like it was the most important document she's ever had to check. At this moment, it was. Burning every detail into her brain one last time, she folded up the small piece of paper and tucked it into her black thigh-high stockings which fit just a bit too tightly along with the rest of her outfit. Alli had showed up in a crimson velvet bodycon dress with slit exploded her entire left thigh. A dress that was perhaps a bit too dressy for a science museum... but when has she ever cared about being too dressy?

Alli adjusted her long sheer black gloves before flicking open her phone and checking her hair one last time. She had tried to calm her messy hair the best she could for the occasion, pulling most of her hair back into a low ponytail that rested on her left shoulder, but her poofy fringe still stuck out like fireworks. The girl had even tried to do her makeup a little differently by using a smokey brown color for her eyeshadow instead of the usual black. But of course, her hazel eyes were still tightly lined in a dark black.

She fidgeted with the ruffles on her dress slit as she bounced her leg, causing her black high heels to click on the floor. She totally was too dressed up... wasn't she? Alli sighed and closed her phone before hooking it on one of the chains around her waist. In the meantime, she'd occupy herself with counting the number tiles on the floor.

Jiro had just sat down with Yuri when his phone buzzes in his pocket. He holds his arm steady for the doctor as he reads the brief message.

It's a bit awkward, but he types with his non-dominant hand:

"Just finishing up treatment. I'll be there shortly."

It's not long after that he emerges from the lab and into the lounge where Alli was waiting. He was dressed a little nicer than usual - as advised by his captain. The dark coat and turtleneck covered his scars with ease, though he still kept the face mask on his chin - ready for when they arrived in more crowded conditions.

Jiro is left in a momentary daze as he takes in the sight of his girlfriend. She was dressed up nicely, but it was still very much her style. His eyes couldn't help but trace along the exposed skin at the slit of the dress. It danced somewhere on the border of elegant and sexy.

When he finds his voice again he compliments, "You look amazing, love. I was wondering what you had in mind, but this is beyond my expectations." The smile plastered on his face sang of his approval.

He could make a comment about how uncomfortable her shoes might become, but that would just open up an opportunity for him to carry her around. He liked the idea of holding her close to him, much like a child would hug their favorite stuffed animal.

He extends his hand to her. "To answer your earlier question, I am indeed ready for the best date ever."

His expression softens as a tinge of pink dusts his cheeks. "I'm lucky to have the most beautiful tour guide to take me on such an experience."

Alli perked up the moment she saw her beloved, reflecting the same look of awe he had with twice the speechlessness. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before taking Jiro's hand and pulling him (or more so, herself) into a kiss with her free arm hung around his shoulder. Alli didn't usually wear lip products due to her piercings, but she decided to apply some cherry lipgloss for the occasion and wanted to share the taste before her gluttony got the better of her.

"I- um.... I made you something! I know the guy is supposed to give the girl something for white day but I just couldn't resist giving you another treat~!!"

Recovering from her flustered state, Alli pulls a few microscopic slides out of her gloves like a magician doing a card trick. Inside each one is a tiny pressed flower petal.

"Each flower is one of the letters in your name.... written in english... I got jasmine, iris, rose, and orchid. I was working on doing your family name too... but I couldn't get it done in time."

The ghoul pouted and hung her head before quickly doing her usual emotional 180 and lifting herself up with a bright smile and peppy hop.

"I'm so excited for tonight! I made a whole schedule~!! Oh! I also brought some painkillers in case you start feeling icky. Those will help, right? Or should I have brought my stronger stuff? Aw fuck- I didn't even consider how they might collide with your other meds... it's okay! I know how to do CPR! on canines.... "

Alli quickly pecked Jiro on the cheek before adjusting her dress and leading him outside. She was pretty sure she remembered the way to the Galaxy Express.... but just in case, she let her lover lead the way.

Out of nothing but pure habit, Jiro holds each of the slides by their edges as he examines each one. "Quite a literal take on Hanatoba - and excellent use of slides. I very much look forward to seeing the completed project." The warmth an excitement was visible on his face. For those that knew what to look for, he looked positively ecstatic. "In fact, that gives me an idea..." he mutters to himself. Someone like Alli would probably appreciate sealed bacterial cultures arranged to spell her name - in much the same fashion as she did with the pressed flowers. Before he knew it, the pep came right back into her step several hundred fold - which was nothing unusual. Jiro couldn't help but laugh every time she went on one of her high-energy tangents. It wasn't always easy to follow, but very entertaining to watch. As they made their way to the Galaxy Express, Jiro shares what's on his mind. "I appreciate the thought, but I should be okay. The regular injections I take cover most possible ailments. For everything else, I have a couple of formulas I can take. They're pretty last-resort though since I have a hard time keeping it down." He frowns a bit. "I'd ask you to help me, but my stigma would poison you in the process." He gives her hand a brief squeeze before relaxing again. "I'd feel quite guilty if that happened." There are ways that it becomes more of a benefit, but that's a discussion for much later - when they have the time and the privacy to experiment. Jiro doesn't let go of her hand, even as they scan their smartphones for entry. He just wants to spend this day as close to his love as he possibly can. After all, with their busy schedules, it's hard to find time to just be with each other. Although they're the only ones on board the train, Jiro pulls Alli close, draping his arm over her shoulder as they sit side-by-side. "Thank you for all of this. Truly." He presses a gentle kiss to the top of her head. "You really spoil me, you know that?"

"Right!! Your stigma!! You gotta tell me more about sometime, mkay? I'm super curious~!! Oh! Do you think if I used my stigma on you, it'd reflect right back to me? Probably not since it's a mental thing, right? Anyways- I'm glad i didn't bring my stronger-and-less-legal painkillers then~!!"

Alli kept herself tightly latched onto Jiro's arm until the two sat down, nuzzling it every so often on the way. He had probably noticed by now, but she has a bit of a fascination with the way he smelled. He smelled safe. Calming. Clean, too.

She looked up at him with her doe eyes, (Allister Doe eyes, if you will!) as he kissed her, fluttering her eyelashes as her mouth perked into a wide smile.

"I spoil you because you deserve it all! You deserve the world! You deserve everything I could ever give you and more. And also because I love making things for you~!! It's nice, you know? Really nice. - to have someone to adore, I mean. And for you to love me back is just.... pshew!"

The ghoul made an explosion gesture with her hands to emphasize the onomatopoeia. Most days she still couldn't believe someone as wonderful as Jiro could actually love her... but today was a rare occasion where her doubts didn't burden her. Perhaps all the excitement was blocking the doom and gloom.

Nuzzling her love again, she interlocked her fingers with the arm slung over her.

"Your hands are cold..."

Alli mumbled, breathing hot air onto Jiro's hand before untangling it from around her and holding it close to her chest. She greedily grabbed his other hand and took it to the same spot as she alternated between rubbing his hands with hers and letting out a warm breath on his digits, adding some kisses in every now and then too.

"Maybe next I'll get you a heat lamp. A giant, Jiro-sized heat lamp. But of course, a heat lamp wouldn't be complete without a basking rock. Or maybe you'd prefer a log? Rocks hold the temperature better though...."

The Jabberwock ghoul began to trail off, planning out an entire enclosure for Jiro as if he were one of her snakes. But would he be a snake? He seemed more akin to a giant lizard... Maybe something like a monitor lizard? Or gila monster? Oh, he'd be such a cute lizard...

"Oh! Jiro! Let's take a selfie!!!"

Alli suggested abruptly, but she was already rummaging through her purse. From her bag she produced a small digital camera that looked to be just as dated as her cellphone.

"Can you take the photo pretty please~? Your arms are wayyyy longer than mine!"

Unconsciously, Jiro nuzzles against Alli's head as she warms his hands. There's just something about the care, and concern, and action that makes him act a little more affectionate in response. While a bit unusual, it was endearing to hear her talk about caring for him like one of her reptiles. Logistically, it would never work, but just the thought that she's so willing to care for him... As someone who needs a little extra care, it eases his concern of putting too much on her shoulders. While she could never medically treat him, she would likely need to pick up his slack whenever he was out of commission - which was far more often than he'd like. The rather abrupt suggestion snaps him out of his brief reverie. "I could give it a shot. It's this button, right?" It was such a simple request, but it made her so happy. So rather than pull out his own cellphone to make it easier, he uses the camera as asked. "How do you even know if it's in the correct position," he mumbles, thinking aloud. "Is this okay?" He looks over expectantly, either awaiting confirmation or direction.

"Mmh-hm! That's it! Say cheese~!! -actually don't. Mouthing "Tuesday" gives better results! Press the buttons a few times too- more photos means more chance for them to be good! That's how the math works... right?"

Alli shut her lips for a moment only for them to be reopened by a teethy smile. One of her hands was occupied with a peace sign while the other softly caressed her lover's cheek- gestures which quickly changed after each "click" of the camera.

"Thank you, baby~!! I'll upload these to my computer and send you them later, mkay?"

She gingerly took the device from Jiro, looking through the photos with a smile of content. Almost immediately after putting away her camera did the PA system announce their arrival at their destination. Alli stood up with spunk, firmly interlacing her hand with Jiro's once again, now satisfied with their warmth. The Jabberwock ghoul wobbled a bit with the stopping of the train, but it did nothing to seize her swinging arm and rising and falling heels.

"Ahh~!! I'm so excited! You're gonna love this place! -I hope... if you don't, I'll just take you on a better date! I'll keep trying until I get it right, I promise!"

Alli kissed Jiro's cheek - as if to seal that promise-before dashing out the train into the anamalous void- like zone.

"Oh! I forgot it's like this! Um... this is the way out, right?"

She didn't wait for an answer before swinging open a door that stood before her- a possibly reckless move if it didn't just lead to a Tokyo alleyway. Her spirited steps took her and Jiro straight out of the little alley, with a museum just across the road. The excited ghoul looked up at her date with a galaxy of stars in her eyes.

"Jiro- If you were a reptile, would you be venomous? Wait... that's not what I mean to ask! I meant: does that building say science museum anywhere? I'm scared of crossing the road, can you hold my hand? Do I look like a hooker? If I do, am I at least a pretty hooker? -ahhh sorry .... I'm really nervous........ you have really pretty eyes."

Alli seemed to have more than enough outward energy for the both of them. Even internally, Jiro could never hope to match her, but he was quite excited all the same as they stepped out into the alleyway.

The nervous rambling has him laughing once more. "Sorry. I hope it doesn't seem like I'm insulting your nerves. The way whatever comes to your mind just pours out of your mouth is just too funny." He draws her in closer to add, "and cute," before giving a quick peck to her cheek.

The facemask is raised and he takes Alli by the hand. "That's our destination, right across the street. Just stick close and you'll be okay. I won't let go. You don't look like a hooker, but some more conservative folks might think otherwise. You are very pretty, so it stands to reason that you would be a pretty hooker."

He answers all of the questions rambled at him as they cross the busy street. She once said she loved to hear him talk, so he hoped it would serve as a good distraction.

"And as a reptile, I'd probably be classified as poisonous. I have so many substances in my system at any given time, it only makes sense."

He stops walking just shy of the doors. "Here we are. That wasn't so bad, was it?" Jiro gives her hand a gentle squeeze. "You're doing great, love."

Once inside (and tickets given), Jiro takes his time looking at each exhibit, spouting off any knowledge he might have on the subject. In a way, it felt a bit like the tables have turned. The Mortkranken ghoul was giving his own tour of sorts with the medical knowledge he possessed.

The occassional tangent came along with certain tools displayed or small videos shown. And of couse, he answered any questions Alli had to the best of his ability - no matter how silly they sounded or how off-topic they were.

He couldn't remember the last time he talked so much - or the last time he wanted to.

Sometimes he caught himself, worried he was boring her. But every time he looked, she was hanging on every word it seemed.

The subject matter was fascinating and the company was even better. She had worried about the museum, but even those who didn't know him could tell he was having the time of his life.

Jiro's low and calming voice soothed Alli as the two crossed the street. She smiled at each of his answers- until he reached the one about reptiles.

"Poisonous? But not venomous? I can't think of any reppys like that off the top of my head.... Oh! But there are cases where reptiles become poisonous through what they eat! Poison's still poison even when wrapped in a treat! -in most cases, anyways."

Before she knew it, they had already made it to the other side. A sweet lightness came to Alli with Jiro's words of affirmation. All her worries, washed away like the tide returning to the ocean.

As Jiro handed the tickets over to the front desk, Alli looked through her little schedule surreptitiously. As long as there weren't any crowded exhibits or unforeseen incidents, they should have enough time to see everything the museum had to offer- spare for most of the scheduled shows. Alli let her beloved lead the way- letting him explore whatever interested him. She only cared for whatever he cared for, after all! And the reptile exhibit.... maybe the mummies too....

The curious ghoul asked any question that came to her mind. Every question. From how a tool is used to how many apples would it take to overdose a horse on vitamin C. Alli could listen to her darling talk for hours. Even days, if it wouldn't hurt his voice.

Eventually, the two made it to the long-awaited (by Alli, at least) tropical arboreal reptile exhibit. For the first time since leaving Darkwick, Alli let go of Jiro and wandered around- "ooh"ing and "ah"ing at every creature in every tank.

"Jiro! Jiro look! They have an emerald tree boa!!"

Her voice was filled with glee but Alli kept herself in a hushed tone, respecting the skittish creatures.

"Ahh look at those stripes!! Aren't they gorgeous? And such a vibrant green too! You can tell she's getting ready to shed by her cloudy eyes and flakey scales- her color must be even brighter under that old skin!- And over here, a veiled chameleon! Usually they're a bit bigger- this one must be an adolescent. Or a runt."

Alli shuffled around the humid room, admiring each creature one more time before returning to Jiro's side and taking his hand once again. Not without nuzzling his arm first, of course.

"That's all I wanted to see. Any other exhibits you wanna stop by before we go to hopefully-not-crime alley?"

Although she lets him go, Jiro still follows Alli like she's still holding on. He didn't want to miss the way her eyes lit up as she gave each little scaley friend a piece of her love and attention. Like clockwork, his eyes follow her every direction, seeking the details she spoke of. Even with her hushed voice, he could feel she was ready to jump for joy at the sight of each reptile. Hell, she'd probably take them home if she could. As he watched her take another lap around the exhibit, he got to thinking about a previous discussion. With his medical knowledge and her overall expertise in handling and care, they had discussed the possibility of going into reptile rehabilitation. See them in this museum made him wonder if they could display those that can't be released or are well enough for visitors. Education is very important after all. His daydream comes to an end when he notices Alli taking him by the hand once more. He smiles as she nuzzles into his arm. He can no longer imagine a world where that future is just a dream. "I've seen everything I've wanted to as well." He gestures toward where they came in with his free arm and a soft smile. "Shall we?" As they return to the entrance, he adds, "I doubt we'll run into trouble in an alley where there's a hole-in-the-wall business. Too much risk for exposure. But if it turns out I'm wrong, there's still no need to worry. I'll keep you safe." Even with the possibility of running into some kind of trouble, Jiro seems completely unbothered. A few humans are nothing he can't handle. Should things go south, he also has his stigma to rely on. Chances are they'll get scared and run when they're attacked by something invisible - at least as far as they're aware. They come to another crossing, but Jiro is quite prepared with another distraction. "I forgot to ask earlier, but the emerald tree boa reminded me - how often does Stephan shed? I know they use their environment to help removed the dead skin as they don't have limbs, but do you ever need to assist in the process for him?" It was something he could easily look up, but now that he knows seemingly random question-and-answer sessions are an excellent distraction, he'll be sure to have plenty in his back pocket. He'd prefer her to answer anyway. Why look through links and sort through reputable sources when he can just listen to her sweet voice instead?

Alli rubbed her face up against Jiro at his declaration of protection, like a cat marking something it liked. She was more than capable of fending for herself, even without her artifact along with her, but it was the sentiment that made her heart flutter. Though, part of her was hoping for a bit of danger.

"Stefan only sheds a few times a year. He's a full-grown adult, after all. Snakes shed more often when they're younger- that's when they grow the most! Growth leads to outgrowing old skin which leads to shedding new skin! It's always best to let your reptiles shed on their own unless the skin is stuck, especially if it's blocking their vision, hearing, or breathing. Most of my noodles can shed just fine on their own, but my other reppys that I keep outside my room are more likely to have a bit of trouble since I can't actively monitor their environment. I've thought of getting a nannycam or smart thermostat like Haru had for peekaboo... but I'd have to have a smartphone to use them. Having one has just seemed more and more necessary since I've come here. Since... I don't have Nadja always taking care of me...."

Alli's energy visibly faded- like it was sucked out of her suddenly.

"I'm sorry- I don't even know why that came to mind- Oh!! Jiro look! It's a hornets nest!!!"

And just like that, she was perky again, now staring at the marble-colored nest with her mouth in a small "o".

"What kind do you think they are? probably an Asian Giant, right? - but usually their nests are so much bigger... and higher up...."

Alli tiptoed and snatched one of the flying bugs right out of the air. She slowly unballed her fist and pinched the insect by its abdomen. The hornet buzzed and flailed, going limp after the ghoul holding it hushed her incantation.

"Jiro!! Isn't it so cute?"

She asked, holding it out for her love to see with a big smile plastered on her face.

"Oh! This is the alley that leads to the ramen shop too! They must really not get much business if hornets feel safe enough to nest here... But yay~!! we made it!!! And I was just getting tired of walking too~!!"

Alli pressed her lips to the large bug with a deliberate "mwah" sound before lifting it high and letting it buzz away. She looked back to Jiro with a bit of a concerned expression.

"Oh! You're not allergic to hornets, are you, love?"

Not even waiting for a response, she wiped her mouth with the fabric on the back of her hand, then leered at her date once more, wearing a smile like before and returning to his side.

It broke his heart when every time she mentioned her ex. Not because it was someone else she was with, but because of how she absolutely deflates every time. One of these days, they'll discuss it. But he himself doesn't know how to properly grieve. The only reason he handles his brothers' deaths so well is because of the amnesia. At least, that's what he figures. He's still a little worried when she abruptly changes the subject - but seeing how genuinely fascinated she is by the hornets eased his mind. He watches as she handles the "dangerous" insect with the same love and affection as she would with anything else in her care. "The so-called 'murder hornet,' according to the internet. That's hardly the case though. But you didn't need me to tell you that, I'm sure. But here's something possibly new for you - now that the little guy's out of earshot: Did you know that hornet larvae is a delicacy in some of Japan's mountainous regions? Some even eat the hornets themselves." Even the mostly unshakable ghoul has his reservations. "Not something I'd be eager to try myself, but necessity is the mother of all invention as they say." He leans down and presses a gentle kiss to her lips. "Believe it or not, I don't have any allergies on record. Just for future reference." His chest feels warm and fuzzy seeing the bright smile back on her face. He leads them into the alleyway, and as he expected, a place of business doesn't have much in the way of problems with most alley-bound dangers. Stepping inside, he finds them a pair of seats along the long bar table. Recalling she couldn't really read kanji, he patiently reads out each item for her, not even minding when she wants him to repeat something or go back to another dish he already read. Being the native speaker of the two, he orders her selection and asks for a small bowl for himself. Thankfully, it's not an uncommon thing for where only one person of the party is eating. He takes a moment to give a crash-course to the American transfer. "I won't be eating much, and it's a bit frowned upon for us to use the same dish, so I've got a bowl for myself to take some of the broth." He hears someone slurping their noodles nearby, giving him the opportunity for the next lesson. "While that's considered rude by American standards, this is actually quite normal - so long as it's the noodles of course. It actually helps to cool them down - from what I remember at least." In a short time, the bowls are placed in front of them. "This is going to sound silly but, could you pour some of the broth into this bowl for me? If I do it myself, there's a greater risk of rejection." The part unsaid - probably because I poisoned myself in the past. "Furthermore, how well do you do with chopsticks? I could help you if you'd like."

"Some people here... eat hornets?! I never saw that in anime.... "

Ah, Alli's one weakness when it comes to animal facts: regional culture. She could look at a creature and tell you what environment it likes, how many bones it had, what its mating rituals are, but when it came to how the creature is seen around the world? She was just as clueless as anyone else. The little tidbit genuinely surprised her- even as someone who regularly eats "uncommon" meat.

"No allergies? At all? You're just full of surprises, aren't you~!! Well so am I! Did you know I'm allergic to the color magenta? I bet you didn't know that! Unless it was in my medical records.... "

A bit of a competitive spark lit in Alli,urging her to spurt more solutions to her mysteries- but she was also eagerly curious to learn more about her beloved. First and foremost however, she was starving for some ramen. Alli stuck close to Jiro as the two walked down the alley and into the small restaurant. She awed at all the surroundings as if she'd never been in a restaurant before.

"Jiro! Do they have the soy sauce ramen? You know, like the instant ramen flavor? That one's my favorite~!!"

The curious ghoul peered at the menu in Jiro's hands as he read it out for her. Her focus was mainly on the prices as she tried to work on her knowledge of local currency.

"600 yen..... is that 6 or 60 dollars? I guess it doesn't matter- a super nice Frostheim student let me borrow her debit card~!!"

She actually had borrowed the card this time- unlike the usual where she just takes Ren's. Though.... she did have to blackmail the student for it.... Still, that's an improvement, right?

"Ooh! The slurp!! I've heard of that before! But still, you're such a smartie pants~!!"

Alli beamed at Jiro before greedily snatching the ramen bowl the moment it's placed in front of her. Eagerness to eat is polite in Japan, right?

Just as her love asked, she poured the broth into his bowl. All of it- even though he asked for a little.

"Do you need me to help you drink it too? I did bring one of my feeding syringes!! It's baby crocodile sized....you're baby crocodile sized, right?"

Alli fumbled with her chopsticks as she asked. She was going to just pretend to be bad with them so Jiro would hold her hands and help her, but her struggle turned out to be genuine. Despite the toil, she managed to get a few noodles in her mouth and slurped them down loudly. Her eyes widened as the warmth and flavor hit her tongue.

"Mhh! This is way better than instant ramen!!"

He quirks a brow at the "borrowed" card, ready to tease her about it, but she quickly covers her tracks before he can. "I don't think they'd even notice that price. That equates to..." he trails off as he calculates the exchange. "About four U.S. dollars." Jiro takes out his phone, typing a few things, then scribbling something down on a nearby napkin with a pen he keeps in his pocket. Sliding it to her, he clarifies. "Every 2 yen is a little more than 1 cent - that's the penny, right? Anyway, I hope that gives you a better idea of how much things cost." Ever since her first issue with Japanese currency, the studious ghoul taught himself about American currency. At the time, he thought that would be the simplest way to teach Alli the conversion - but with the way the American dollar was divided up, it took him longer to memorize than expected. Then, in true Jiro fashion, he forgot about the lesson.

He watches as she pours the broth into the small bowl, then as she takes her first bite. Bringing his bowl to his lips, he couldn't help but think about how one of his first meals will be a better version of one of Alli's favorite things. He sips carefully, first taking in the flavor, then to see how his stomach reacts. Jiro hadn't realized how much he tensed in that moment, but relief washes over him when there's no reaction. "This is very good." His smile almost matches hers. This brings a whole new list of things they could share. "We should visit this place more often."

"Mhh!"

Alli agreed, mouth stuffed full with noodles. She scarfed the entire bowl down with haste- so that she could continue conversing with her favorite person. The Jabberwock ghoul sloppily wiped her mouth with the fabric of her gloves before much more sanitarily dabbing Jiro's lips with a napkin.

"We should go out more often! I've been so busy with my research and critters that I haven't really had any time to explore Tokyo! The city is sooosososo pretty! Kinda reminds me of where I grew up. But... neater! -Anyways, I know you're really busy too. Just know I'll always make time for you, mkay? Always! Unless there's something really super important that requires me specifically- like a venomy baby running loose or something."

Alli adjusted the top of her dress, pulling it up a bit before asking the server for another bowl. Once again, she poured the broth into Jiro's bowl, but left a little for herself this time. However, the noodles were gone just as quickly as the last time.

"Love, have you ever been to a plant nursery before? Maybe we could go adopt a little plant baby sometime~!! But I wanna name it, alright? Unless you wanna name it! But I do really wanna name it! I have the perfect name for an aloe vera plant in mind~!!"

The cheery ghoul placed a hand over Jiro's, beaming at him like a lighthouse. She used her other hand to rest her head on, swinging her legs as she gazed lovingly at her dear Jiro.

"Do you wanna try and eat some noodles, babe? They're really good~~!!"

"Oh?" So she came from the city. He never would've expected that with how well she works with all kinds of creatures. "I never pegged you as a city girl. There's nothing wrong with that of course. Just an observation."

His next statement covers so many things he had never done in his life. "I suppose it would be accurate to call me sheltered? I come from a small community - middle of nowhere kind of place. Very secluded." There's perhaps a but more to it, but his subconcious mind warns against digging deeper.

"But I love discovering new things. If there's somewhere you want to go, or something you want to try, I'll gladly follow. If I can't participate somehow, I'll still accompany you. Part of learning is observation."

He takes a sip of the delicious broth before he confesses in a hushed tone, "I always enjoy watching you. You're so cute and lively. You could be doing something as mundane as writing. Even then, it's hard to take my eyes off of you."

A light, breathy laugh escapes him. There's so much more he could say, but it feels redundant at this point.

Alli giggled, a little surprised that Jiro didn't already know about where she grew up. But to be fair, she could hardly remember anything about her childhood let alone talk about it.

"Yeah, I grew up in the city! I remember it being suuuper industrial and stuffy. Crowded, noisy, depressing... But here in Tokyo... it's like... whoah! Everything's so pretty- so... lived in! It feels alive here!"

The foreigner was a little surprised about how much she remembered from her home town, considering she hadn't been back there for almost 10 years. The people were all a blur- but the places were much more vivid.

"Mhh- so is that a yes on the plant nursery date? Hehe~!! Really though, I'd love to take you everywhere with me. I always feel better with you around. Like I'm invincible~!!"

Alli giggled again before her face softened and her tone hushed to mimic that of Jiro's.

"You're a really good listener. And I love that about you. I love that you... you really listen to me. I don't think anyone's ever done that before."

She snuggled up to him as she spoke- once again rubbing her face on him like a cat marking its territory. Alli stayed still with her head resting on Jiro's shoulder for a few moments before peeking back up and clapping her hands together.

"I'm full! You ready to go look at the pretty arts? Cause I'm ready to go look at the pretty arts~!! I'm not ready to keep walking though.... Jiroooo~~ can you carry me~~?"

His smile is fond, delighting in the praise she showered him with. He did his best to be there for her, and he's very happy to see that his efforts have borne fruit. Of course, he has no intention of letting up. The girl leaning on his shoulder was perhaps one of the most important people in his life - certainly the most precious. "The pretty arts?" He wonders for a moment, but it isn't long before he recalls the itinerary. "Right. The street art." While his response came out a little flat, he was no less enthused and curious. But having been so close, Alli would easily recognize that. "Sorry. I'd nearly forgotten." No sooner had she asked to be carried, Jiro picked her up with ease, opting for a bridal carry. She could see where they were going, and she could keep snuggling close to him. It was ideal. The raven-haired man picks a direction and begins walking, only taking a few steps before he's hit with another realization. "I'm not sure where it is." He looks around, clutching her just a little tighter to his chest, just because he can. "Just tell me where to go and I'll get us there."

"It should be just a few streets down from the little hornet nest...I think?"

Alli took out the schedule she made, trying her best to hide it from Jiro after remembering what else she put on it. She traced her pointer finger along a crudely-drawn map as she held the paper close to her chest.

"Yup! Just gotta take a left once we reach the crossroad!"

She chirped, folding the paper back up and returning it to her stocking before making sure the fabric of her dress was sufficiently covering her core. - And then it was back to snuggling her beloved.

"Mmh... it's getting kinda dark out.... hopefully we'll still be able to see the street art...- Speaking of~~ I have a little surprise planned for afterwards~!!"

The Jabberwock girl had completely forgotten about her "surprise" and she was a little unsure if they'd have enough time for it- but she didn't want to rush Jiro. Besides, the street art was what she was looking forward to the most.

Once the two had arrived, Alli jumped out of her boyfriend's arms and right towards a graffitied wall. She awed at the art: a woman with a fish for the upper half eating a hamburger.

"Jiro!! It's so pretty!! What do you think it represents?"

Without giving him time to answer she rushed to the next piece and stared at it with the same astoundment even though it was just a doodled penis with doodled flowers shooting out of the tip.

The girl returned to her love and grabbed him by the wrist to drag him off to the next piece.

"Jiro!! look look! This one's so pretty!!!!"

I'm glad Stefan's been getting along so well with my newer snakes! When he was younger, he had a brother named Damon. He ate Damon. But since then, he hasn't been hostile in the slightest!

Alli sent her text, waiting in the Mortkranken lobby. She had showed up half an hour early- later than she wanted to due to some last-minute Jabberwock work. At least the little incident would make for good conversation.

She was intently checking through the schedule she made like it was the most important document she's ever had to check. At this moment, it was. Burning every detail into her brain one last time, she folded up the small piece of paper and tucked it into her black thigh-high stockings which fit just a bit too tightly along with the rest of her outfit. Alli had showed up in a crimson velvet bodycon dress with slit exploded her entire left thigh. A dress that was perhaps a bit too dressy for a science museum... but when has she ever cared about being too dressy?

Alli adjusted her long sheer black gloves before flicking open her phone and checking her hair one last time. She had tried to calm her messy hair the best she could for the occasion, pulling most of her hair back into a low ponytail that rested on her left shoulder, but her poofy fringe still stuck out like fireworks. The girl had even tried to do her makeup a little differently by using a smokey brown color for her eyeshadow instead of the usual black. But of course, her hazel eyes were still tightly lined in a dark black.

She fidgeted with the ruffles on her dress slit as she bounced her leg, causing her black high heels to click on the floor. She totally was too dressed up... wasn't she? Alli sighed and closed her phone before hooking it on one of the chains around her waist. In the meantime, she'd occupy herself with counting the number tiles on the floor.

Jiro had just sat down with Yuri when his phone buzzes in his pocket. He holds his arm steady for the doctor as he reads the brief message.

It's a bit awkward, but he types with his non-dominant hand:

"Just finishing up treatment. I'll be there shortly."

It's not long after that he emerges from the lab and into the lounge where Alli was waiting. He was dressed a little nicer than usual - as advised by his captain. The dark coat and turtleneck covered his scars with ease, though he still kept the face mask on his chin - ready for when they arrived in more crowded conditions.

Jiro is left in a momentary daze as he takes in the sight of his girlfriend. She was dressed up nicely, but it was still very much her style. His eyes couldn't help but trace along the exposed skin at the slit of the dress. It danced somewhere on the border of elegant and sexy.

When he finds his voice again he compliments, "You look amazing, love. I was wondering what you had in mind, but this is beyond my expectations." The smile plastered on his face sang of his approval.

He could make a comment about how uncomfortable her shoes might become, but that would just open up an opportunity for him to carry her around. He liked the idea of holding her close to him, much like a child would hug their favorite stuffed animal.

He extends his hand to her. "To answer your earlier question, I am indeed ready for the best date ever."

His expression softens as a tinge of pink dusts his cheeks. "I'm lucky to have the most beautiful tour guide to take me on such an experience."

Alli perked up the moment she saw her beloved, reflecting the same look of awe he had with twice the speechlessness. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before taking Jiro's hand and pulling him (or more so, herself) into a kiss with her free arm hung around his shoulder. Alli didn't usually wear lip products due to her piercings, but she decided to apply some cherry lipgloss for the occasion and wanted to share the taste before her gluttony got the better of her.

"I- um.... I made you something! I know the guy is supposed to give the girl something for white day but I just couldn't resist giving you another treat~!!"

Recovering from her flustered state, Alli pulls a few microscopic slides out of her gloves like a magician doing a card trick. Inside each one is a tiny pressed flower petal.

"Each flower is one of the letters in your name.... written in english... I got jasmine, iris, rose, and orchid. I was working on doing your family name too... but I couldn't get it done in time."

The ghoul pouted and hung her head before quickly doing her usual emotional 180 and lifting herself up with a bright smile and peppy hop.

"I'm so excited for tonight! I made a whole schedule~!! Oh! I also brought some painkillers in case you start feeling icky. Those will help, right? Or should I have brought my stronger stuff? Aw fuck- I didn't even consider how they might collide with your other meds... it's okay! I know how to do CPR! on canines.... "

Alli quickly pecked Jiro on the cheek before adjusting her dress and leading him outside. She was pretty sure she remembered the way to the Galaxy Express.... but just in case, she let her lover lead the way.

Out of nothing but pure habit, Jiro holds each of the slides by their edges as he examines each one. "Quite a literal take on Hanatoba - and excellent use of slides. I very much look forward to seeing the completed project." The warmth an excitement was visible on his face. For those that knew what to look for, he looked positively ecstatic. "In fact, that gives me an idea..." he mutters to himself. Someone like Alli would probably appreciate sealed bacterial cultures arranged to spell her name - in much the same fashion as she did with the pressed flowers. Before he knew it, the pep came right back into her step several hundred fold - which was nothing unusual. Jiro couldn't help but laugh every time she went on one of her high-energy tangents. It wasn't always easy to follow, but very entertaining to watch. As they made their way to the Galaxy Express, Jiro shares what's on his mind. "I appreciate the thought, but I should be okay. The regular injections I take cover most possible ailments. For everything else, I have a couple of formulas I can take. They're pretty last-resort though since I have a hard time keeping it down." He frowns a bit. "I'd ask you to help me, but my stigma would poison you in the process." He gives her hand a brief squeeze before relaxing again. "I'd feel quite guilty if that happened." There are ways that it becomes more of a benefit, but that's a discussion for much later - when they have the time and the privacy to experiment. Jiro doesn't let go of her hand, even as they scan their smartphones for entry. He just wants to spend this day as close to his love as he possibly can. After all, with their busy schedules, it's hard to find time to just be with each other. Although they're the only ones on board the train, Jiro pulls Alli close, draping his arm over her shoulder as they sit side-by-side. "Thank you for all of this. Truly." He presses a gentle kiss to the top of her head. "You really spoil me, you know that?"

"Right!! Your stigma!! You gotta tell me more about sometime, mkay? I'm super curious~!! Oh! Do you think if I used my stigma on you, it'd reflect right back to me? Probably not since it's a mental thing, right? Anyways- I'm glad i didn't bring my stronger-and-less-legal painkillers then~!!"

Alli kept herself tightly latched onto Jiro's arm until the two sat down, nuzzling it every so often on the way. He had probably noticed by now, but she has a bit of a fascination with the way he smelled. He smelled safe. Calming. Clean, too.

She looked up at him with her doe eyes, (Allister Doe eyes, if you will!) as he kissed her, fluttering her eyelashes as her mouth perked into a wide smile.

"I spoil you because you deserve it all! You deserve the world! You deserve everything I could ever give you and more. And also because I love making things for you~!! It's nice, you know? Really nice. - to have someone to adore, I mean. And for you to love me back is just.... pshew!"

The ghoul made an explosion gesture with her hands to emphasize the onomatopoeia. Most days she still couldn't believe someone as wonderful as Jiro could actually love her... but today was a rare occasion where her doubts didn't burden her. Perhaps all the excitement was blocking the doom and gloom.

Nuzzling her love again, she interlocked her fingers with the arm slung over her.

"Your hands are cold..."

Alli mumbled, breathing hot air onto Jiro's hand before untangling it from around her and holding it close to her chest. She greedily grabbed his other hand and took it to the same spot as she alternated between rubbing his hands with hers and letting out a warm breath on his digits, adding some kisses in every now and then too.

"Maybe next I'll get you a heat lamp. A giant, Jiro-sized heat lamp. But of course, a heat lamp wouldn't be complete without a basking rock. Or maybe you'd prefer a log? Rocks hold the temperature better though...."

The Jabberwock ghoul began to trail off, planning out an entire enclosure for Jiro as if he were one of her snakes. But would he be a snake? He seemed more akin to a giant lizard... Maybe something like a monitor lizard? Or gila monster? Oh, he'd be such a cute lizard...

"Oh! Jiro! Let's take a selfie!!!"

Alli suggested abruptly, but she was already rummaging through her purse. From her bag she produced a small digital camera that looked to be just as dated as her cellphone.

"Can you take the photo pretty please~? Your arms are wayyyy longer than mine!"

Unconsciously, Jiro nuzzles against Alli's head as she warms his hands. There's just something about the care, and concern, and action that makes him act a little more affectionate in response. While a bit unusual, it was endearing to hear her talk about caring for him like one of her reptiles. Logistically, it would never work, but just the thought that she's so willing to care for him... As someone who needs a little extra care, it eases his concern of putting too much on her shoulders. While she could never medically treat him, she would likely need to pick up his slack whenever he was out of commission - which was far more often than he'd like. The rather abrupt suggestion snaps him out of his brief reverie. "I could give it a shot. It's this button, right?" It was such a simple request, but it made her so happy. So rather than pull out his own cellphone to make it easier, he uses the camera as asked. "How do you even know if it's in the correct position," he mumbles, thinking aloud. "Is this okay?" He looks over expectantly, either awaiting confirmation or direction.

"Mmh-hm! That's it! Say cheese~!! -actually don't. Mouthing "Tuesday" gives better results! Press the buttons a few times too- more photos means more chance for them to be good! That's how the math works... right?"

Alli shut her lips for a moment only for them to be reopened by a teethy smile. One of her hands was occupied with a peace sign while the other softly caressed her lover's cheek- gestures which quickly changed after each "click" of the camera.

"Thank you, baby~!! I'll upload these to my computer and send you them later, mkay?"

She gingerly took the device from Jiro, looking through the photos with a smile of content. Almost immediately after putting away her camera did the PA system announce their arrival at their destination. Alli stood up with spunk, firmly interlacing her hand with Jiro's once again, now satisfied with their warmth. The Jabberwock ghoul wobbled a bit with the stopping of the train, but it did nothing to seize her swinging arm and rising and falling heels.

"Ahh~!! I'm so excited! You're gonna love this place! -I hope... if you don't, I'll just take you on a better date! I'll keep trying until I get it right, I promise!"

Alli kissed Jiro's cheek - as if to seal that promise-before dashing out the train into the anamalous void- like zone.

"Oh! I forgot it's like this! Um... this is the way out, right?"

She didn't wait for an answer before swinging open a door that stood before her- a possibly reckless move if it didn't just lead to a Tokyo alleyway. Her spirited steps took her and Jiro straight out of the little alley, with a museum just across the road. The excited ghoul looked up at her date with a galaxy of stars in her eyes.

"Jiro- If you were a reptile, would you be venomous? Wait... that's not what I mean to ask! I meant: does that building say science museum anywhere? I'm scared of crossing the road, can you hold my hand? Do I look like a hooker? If I do, am I at least a pretty hooker? -ahhh sorry .... I'm really nervous........ you have really pretty eyes."

Alli seemed to have more than enough outward energy for the both of them. Even internally, Jiro could never hope to match her, but he was quite excited all the same as they stepped out into the alleyway.

The nervous rambling has him laughing once more. "Sorry. I hope it doesn't seem like I'm insulting your nerves. The way whatever comes to your mind just pours out of your mouth is just too funny." He draws her in closer to add, "and cute," before giving a quick peck to her cheek.

The facemask is raised and he takes Alli by the hand. "That's our destination, right across the street. Just stick close and you'll be okay. I won't let go. You don't look like a hooker, but some more conservative folks might think otherwise. You are very pretty, so it stands to reason that you would be a pretty hooker."

He answers all of the questions rambled at him as they cross the busy street. She once said she loved to hear him talk, so he hoped it would serve as a good distraction.

"And as a reptile, I'd probably be classified as poisonous. I have so many substances in my system at any given time, it only makes sense."

He stops walking just shy of the doors. "Here we are. That wasn't so bad, was it?" Jiro gives her hand a gentle squeeze. "You're doing great, love."

Once inside (and tickets given), Jiro takes his time looking at each exhibit, spouting off any knowledge he might have on the subject. In a way, it felt a bit like the tables have turned. The Mortkranken ghoul was giving his own tour of sorts with the medical knowledge he possessed.

The occassional tangent came along with certain tools displayed or small videos shown. And of couse, he answered any questions Alli had to the best of his ability - no matter how silly they sounded or how off-topic they were.

He couldn't remember the last time he talked so much - or the last time he wanted to.

Sometimes he caught himself, worried he was boring her. But every time he looked, she was hanging on every word it seemed.

The subject matter was fascinating and the company was even better. She had worried about the museum, but even those who didn't know him could tell he was having the time of his life.

Jiro's low and calming voice soothed Alli as the two crossed the street. She smiled at each of his answers- until he reached the one about reptiles.

"Poisonous? But not venomous? I can't think of any reppys like that off the top of my head.... Oh! But there are cases where reptiles become poisonous through what they eat! Poison's still poison even when wrapped in a treat! -in most cases, anyways."

Before she knew it, they had already made it to the other side. A sweet lightness came to Alli with Jiro's words of affirmation. All her worries, washed away like the tide returning to the ocean.

As Jiro handed the tickets over to the front desk, Alli looked through her little schedule surreptitiously. As long as there weren't any crowded exhibits or unforeseen incidents, they should have enough time to see everything the museum had to offer- spare for most of the scheduled shows. Alli let her beloved lead the way- letting him explore whatever interested him. She only cared for whatever he cared for, after all! And the reptile exhibit.... maybe the mummies too....

The curious ghoul asked any question that came to her mind. Every question. From how a tool is used to how many apples would it take to overdose a horse on vitamin C. Alli could listen to her darling talk for hours. Even days, if it wouldn't hurt his voice.

Eventually, the two made it to the long-awaited (by Alli, at least) tropical arboreal reptile exhibit. For the first time since leaving Darkwick, Alli let go of Jiro and wandered around- "ooh"ing and "ah"ing at every creature in every tank.

"Jiro! Jiro look! They have an emerald tree boa!!"

Her voice was filled with glee but Alli kept herself in a hushed tone, respecting the skittish creatures.

"Ahh look at those stripes!! Aren't they gorgeous? And such a vibrant green too! You can tell she's getting ready to shed by her cloudy eyes and flakey scales- her color must be even brighter under that old skin!- And over here, a veiled chameleon! Usually they're a bit bigger- this one must be an adolescent. Or a runt."

Alli shuffled around the humid room, admiring each creature one more time before returning to Jiro's side and taking his hand once again. Not without nuzzling his arm first, of course.

"That's all I wanted to see. Any other exhibits you wanna stop by before we go to hopefully-not-crime alley?"

Although she lets him go, Jiro still follows Alli like she's still holding on. He didn't want to miss the way her eyes lit up as she gave each little scaley friend a piece of her love and attention. Like clockwork, his eyes follow her every direction, seeking the details she spoke of. Even with her hushed voice, he could feel she was ready to jump for joy at the sight of each reptile. Hell, she'd probably take them home if she could. As he watched her take another lap around the exhibit, he got to thinking about a previous discussion. With his medical knowledge and her overall expertise in handling and care, they had discussed the possibility of going into reptile rehabilitation. See them in this museum made him wonder if they could display those that can't be released or are well enough for visitors. Education is very important after all. His daydream comes to an end when he notices Alli taking him by the hand once more. He smiles as she nuzzles into his arm. He can no longer imagine a world where that future is just a dream. "I've seen everything I've wanted to as well." He gestures toward where they came in with his free arm and a soft smile. "Shall we?" As they return to the entrance, he adds, "I doubt we'll run into trouble in an alley where there's a hole-in-the-wall business. Too much risk for exposure. But if it turns out I'm wrong, there's still no need to worry. I'll keep you safe." Even with the possibility of running into some kind of trouble, Jiro seems completely unbothered. A few humans are nothing he can't handle. Should things go south, he also has his stigma to rely on. Chances are they'll get scared and run when they're attacked by something invisible - at least as far as they're aware. They come to another crossing, but Jiro is quite prepared with another distraction. "I forgot to ask earlier, but the emerald tree boa reminded me - how often does Stephan shed? I know they use their environment to help removed the dead skin as they don't have limbs, but do you ever need to assist in the process for him?" It was something he could easily look up, but now that he knows seemingly random question-and-answer sessions are an excellent distraction, he'll be sure to have plenty in his back pocket. He'd prefer her to answer anyway. Why look through links and sort through reputable sources when he can just listen to her sweet voice instead?

Alli rubbed her face up against Jiro at his declaration of protection, like a cat marking something it liked. She was more than capable of fending for herself, even without her artifact along with her, but it was the sentiment that made her heart flutter. Though, part of her was hoping for a bit of danger.

"Stefan only sheds a few times a year. He's a full-grown adult, after all. Snakes shed more often when they're younger- that's when they grow the most! Growth leads to outgrowing old skin which leads to shedding new skin! It's always best to let your reptiles shed on their own unless the skin is stuck, especially if it's blocking their vision, hearing, or breathing. Most of my noodles can shed just fine on their own, but my other reppys that I keep outside my room are more likely to have a bit of trouble since I can't actively monitor their environment. I've thought of getting a nannycam or smart thermostat like Haru had for peekaboo... but I'd have to have a smartphone to use them. Having one has just seemed more and more necessary since I've come here. Since... I don't have Nadja always taking care of me...."

Alli's energy visibly faded- like it was sucked out of her suddenly.

"I'm sorry- I don't even know why that came to mind- Oh!! Jiro look! It's a hornets nest!!!"

And just like that, she was perky again, now staring at the marble-colored nest with her mouth in a small "o".

"What kind do you think they are? probably an Asian Giant, right? - but usually their nests are so much bigger... and higher up...."

Alli tiptoed and snatched one of the flying bugs right out of the air. She slowly unballed her fist and pinched the insect by its abdomen. The hornet buzzed and flailed, going limp after the ghoul holding it hushed her incantation.

"Jiro!! Isn't it so cute?"

She asked, holding it out for her love to see with a big smile plastered on her face.

"Oh! This is the alley that leads to the ramen shop too! They must really not get much business if hornets feel safe enough to nest here... But yay~!! we made it!!! And I was just getting tired of walking too~!!"

Alli pressed her lips to the large bug with a deliberate "mwah" sound before lifting it high and letting it buzz away. She looked back to Jiro with a bit of a concerned expression.

"Oh! You're not allergic to hornets, are you, love?"

Not even waiting for a response, she wiped her mouth with the fabric on the back of her hand, then leered at her date once more, wearing a smile like before and returning to his side.

It broke his heart when every time she mentioned her ex. Not because it was someone else she was with, but because of how she absolutely deflates every time. One of these days, they'll discuss it. But he himself doesn't know how to properly grieve. The only reason he handles his brothers' deaths so well is because of the amnesia. At least, that's what he figures. He's still a little worried when she abruptly changes the subject - but seeing how genuinely fascinated she is by the hornets eased his mind. He watches as she handles the "dangerous" insect with the same love and affection as she would with anything else in her care. "The so-called 'murder hornet,' according to the internet. That's hardly the case though. But you didn't need me to tell you that, I'm sure. But here's something possibly new for you - now that the little guy's out of earshot: Did you know that hornet larvae is a delicacy in some of Japan's mountainous regions? Some even eat the hornets themselves." Even the mostly unshakable ghoul has his reservations. "Not something I'd be eager to try myself, but necessity is the mother of all invention as they say." He leans down and presses a gentle kiss to her lips. "Believe it or not, I don't have any allergies on record. Just for future reference." His chest feels warm and fuzzy seeing the bright smile back on her face. He leads them into the alleyway, and as he expected, a place of business doesn't have much in the way of problems with most alley-bound dangers. Stepping inside, he finds them a pair of seats along the long bar table. Recalling she couldn't really read kanji, he patiently reads out each item for her, not even minding when she wants him to repeat something or go back to another dish he already read. Being the native speaker of the two, he orders her selection and asks for a small bowl for himself. Thankfully, it's not an uncommon thing for where only one person of the party is eating. He takes a moment to give a crash-course to the American transfer. "I won't be eating much, and it's a bit frowned upon for us to use the same dish, so I've got a bowl for myself to take some of the broth." He hears someone slurping their noodles nearby, giving him the opportunity for the next lesson. "While that's considered rude by American standards, this is actually quite normal - so long as it's the noodles of course. It actually helps to cool them down - from what I remember at least." In a short time, the bowls are placed in front of them. "This is going to sound silly but, could you pour some of the broth into this bowl for me? If I do it myself, there's a greater risk of rejection." The part unsaid - probably because I poisoned myself in the past. "Furthermore, how well do you do with chopsticks? I could help you if you'd like."

"Some people here... eat hornets?! I never saw that in anime.... "

Ah, Alli's one weakness when it comes to animal facts: regional culture. She could look at a creature and tell you what environment it likes, how many bones it had, what its mating rituals are, but when it came to how the creature is seen around the world? She was just as clueless as anyone else. The little tidbit genuinely surprised her- even as someone who regularly eats "uncommon" meat.

"No allergies? At all? You're just full of surprises, aren't you~!! Well so am I! Did you know I'm allergic to the color magenta? I bet you didn't know that! Unless it was in my medical records.... "

A bit of a competitive spark lit in Alli,urging her to spurt more solutions to her mysteries- but she was also eagerly curious to learn more about her beloved. First and foremost however, she was starving for some ramen. Alli stuck close to Jiro as the two walked down the alley and into the small restaurant. She awed at all the surroundings as if she'd never been in a restaurant before.

"Jiro! Do they have the soy sauce ramen? You know, like the instant ramen flavor? That one's my favorite~!!"

The curious ghoul peered at the menu in Jiro's hands as he read it out for her. Her focus was mainly on the prices as she tried to work on her knowledge of local currency.

"600 yen..... is that 6 or 60 dollars? I guess it doesn't matter- a super nice Frostheim student let me borrow her debit card~!!"

She actually had borrowed the card this time- unlike the usual where she just takes Ren's. Though.... she did have to blackmail the student for it.... Still, that's an improvement, right?

"Ooh! The slurp!! I've heard of that before! But still, you're such a smartie pants~!!"

Alli beamed at Jiro before greedily snatching the ramen bowl the moment it's placed in front of her. Eagerness to eat is polite in Japan, right?

Just as her love asked, she poured the broth into his bowl. All of it- even though he asked for a little.

"Do you need me to help you drink it too? I did bring one of my feeding syringes!! It's baby crocodile sized....you're baby crocodile sized, right?"

Alli fumbled with her chopsticks as she asked. She was going to just pretend to be bad with them so Jiro would hold her hands and help her, but her struggle turned out to be genuine. Despite the toil, she managed to get a few noodles in her mouth and slurped them down loudly. Her eyes widened as the warmth and flavor hit her tongue.

"Mhh! This is way better than instant ramen!!"

He quirks a brow at the "borrowed" card, ready to tease her about it, but she quickly covers her tracks before he can. "I don't think they'd even notice that price. That equates to..." he trails off as he calculates the exchange. "About four U.S. dollars." Jiro takes out his phone, typing a few things, then scribbling something down on a nearby napkin with a pen he keeps in his pocket. Sliding it to her, he clarifies. "Every 2 yen is a little more than 1 cent - that's the penny, right? Anyway, I hope that gives you a better idea of how much things cost." Ever since her first issue with Japanese currency, the studious ghoul taught himself about American currency. At the time, he thought that would be the simplest way to teach Alli the conversion - but with the way the American dollar was divided up, it took him longer to memorize than expected. Then, in true Jiro fashion, he forgot about the lesson.

He watches as she pours the broth into the small bowl, then as she takes her first bite. Bringing his bowl to his lips, he couldn't help but think about how one of his first meals will be a better version of one of Alli's favorite things. He sips carefully, first taking in the flavor, then to see how his stomach reacts. Jiro hadn't realized how much he tensed in that moment, but relief washes over him when there's no reaction. "This is very good." His smile almost matches hers. This brings a whole new list of things they could share. "We should visit this place more often."

"Mhh!"

Alli agreed, mouth stuffed full with noodles. She scarfed the entire bowl down with haste- so that she could continue conversing with her favorite person. The Jabberwock ghoul sloppily wiped her mouth with the fabric of her gloves before much more sanitarily dabbing Jiro's lips with a napkin.

"We should go out more often! I've been so busy with my research and critters that I haven't really had any time to explore Tokyo! The city is sooosososo pretty! Kinda reminds me of where I grew up. But... neater! -Anyways, I know you're really busy too. Just know I'll always make time for you, mkay? Always! Unless there's something really super important that requires me specifically- like a venomy baby running loose or something."

Alli adjusted the top of her dress, pulling it up a bit before asking the server for another bowl. Once again, she poured the broth into Jiro's bowl, but left a little for herself this time. However, the noodles were gone just as quickly as the last time.

"Love, have you ever been to a plant nursery before? Maybe we could go adopt a little plant baby sometime~!! But I wanna name it, alright? Unless you wanna name it! But I do really wanna name it! I have the perfect name for an aloe vera plant in mind~!!"

The cheery ghoul placed a hand over Jiro's, beaming at him like a lighthouse. She used her other hand to rest her head on, swinging her legs as she gazed lovingly at her dear Jiro.

"Oh?" So she came from the city. He never would've expected that with how well she works with all kinds of creatures. "I never pegged you as a city girl. There's nothing wrong with that of course. Just an observation."

His next statement covers so many things he had never done in his life. "I suppose it would be accurate to call me sheltered? I come from a small community - middle of nowhere kind of place. Very secluded." There's perhaps a but more to it, but his subconcious mind warns against digging deeper.

"But I love discovering new things. If there's somewhere you want to go, or something you want to try, I'll gladly follow. If I can't participate somehow, I'll still accompany you. Part of learning is observation."

He takes a sip of the delicious broth before he confesses in a hushed tone, "I always enjoy watching you. You're so cute and lively. You could be doing something as mundane as writing. Even then, it's hard to take my eyes off of you."

A light, breathy laugh escapes him. There's so much more he could say, but it feels redundant at this point.

Alli giggled, a little surprised that Jiro didn't already know about where she grew up. But to be fair, she could hardly remember anything about her childhood let alone talk about it.

"Yeah, I grew up in the city! I remember it being suuuper industrial and stuffy. Crowded, noisy, depressing... But here in Tokyo... it's like... whoah! Everything's so pretty- so... lived in! It feels alive here!"

The foreigner was a little surprised about how much she remembered from her home town, considering she hadn't been back there for almost 10 years. The people were all a blur- but the places were much more vivid.

"Mhh- so is that a yes on the plant nursery date? Hehe~!! Really though, I'd love to take you everywhere with me. I always feel better with you around. Like I'm invincible~!!"

Alli giggled again before her face softened and her tone hushed to mimic that of Jiro's.

"You're a really good listener. And I love that about you. I love that you... you really listen to me. I don't think anyone's ever done that before."

She snuggled up to him as she spoke- once again rubbing her face on him like a cat marking its territory. Alli stayed still with her head resting on Jiro's shoulder for a few moments before peeking back up and clapping her hands together.

"I'm full! You ready to go look at the pretty arts? Cause I'm ready to go look at the pretty arts~!! I'm not ready to keep walking though.... Jiroooo~~ can you carry me~~?"
