there was a year, when pony was young, that Pony really really wanted to be in the circus- even used moms lipstick for his nose.

Look, 'friendly ghost clown' or whatever you are... sigh. I don't know what kind of game you're playing, and frankly, I'm already tired. But... if you're really 'friendly,' and you're not going to mess with Ponyboy's head more than it already is, or teach Soda any new goofy tricks he'll try on me... then fine. I guess. Just, no more confetti indoors, alright? And don't scare any of the neighbors. We got enough trouble without people thinking we're running a haunted house.

Pony and Soda give me enough worries so don’t influence them too much.

Darry wakes up early for work; he has a double shift. While he makes breakfast for his brothers he remembers today is Pony’s parent-teacher conference.

With a sigh he decides he doesn’t need the money from the second shift today- if anything he’ll just work the hours another day.

what is your opinion on bees? im talking carpenter bees and bumblebees?

I don’t mind them ‘long as they don’t mind me, y’know? Soda’s allergic though so whenever there’s a bee hive near the house I gotta take it down.

overall, they ain’t that bad- sometimes when Pony’ll draw ‘em they’re kinda cute?

Today after work Darry comes home to Soda and Pony sleeping on the couch. He sighs and puts a blanket over them.

he goes to sleep finding comfort in the fact that his brothers are safe.

How do you make your chocolate cake?

it’s my mom’s old recipe, though I usually add some extra sugar for Pepsi-Cola.

Not to mention it’s always slightly different dependin’ if me or Soda make it. When I make it, I use sugar, flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, eggs, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and boiling water— so it’s not too dry, y’know.

That’s it. I’m filing for divorce.

I don’t remember getting married to anyone.
