IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

So, hi. Erehe here.

Di na ako magpapaligoy-ligoy pa: I’m closing the blog.

1. Filibustero, Anak ng Bayan and I aren’t on speaking terms anymore.

2. I would keep you guys engaged with mini drabbles but that doesn’t seem to be working. It was Fili’s art that kept this blog stable for the time, but now that we have 0 contact with each other, I don’t know how else to keep the audience engaged.

3. My priorities are divided now. I barely even go on Tumblr, actually.

Mahirap din ito para sakin kasi this blog was pretty much with me for quite some time. It’s where we dispensed all our fun El Nolibu content. It’s hard to let go of it, to stuff it in the closet, but that’s what has to be done.

I’ll be closing the ask box. There’s still some stuff that I’ll try to clean up, probably answer as well (still in drabble form) but once that’s cleared up, expect no more. 

I won’t delete the blog though! I’ll leave it around for new El Nolibu fans to browse through.

Will Elias carry out the Simoun route if Ibarra died instead of him?

SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T READ THE EL FILI

If you read the “Tugisan sa Lawa” you’d find that while Elias and Ibarra had similar goals in mind, in the end their perspectives had changed rather drastically.

Elias, who used to rely only on God because he’s stopped believing in man, has come to trust in the abilities of man all because Ibarra showed him just what exactly a united people can accomplish. He’s become hopeful and more optimistic in what the future holds for the country. To achieve this, though, is not a revolution in blood, but in knowledge and education (p much Rizal irl).

Ibarra, on the other hand, has been greatly warped by his experiences in the past few months, that he’s become incredibly jaded. He has lost hope in people, and is firm in his belief that this country would just turn to shit. When he becomes Simoun, his pessimism shows in the dialogues he has with the other characters, and his attempts in a revolution are clearly shown. Twice, even.

With these facts in mind, in my opinion I find it highly unlikely that Elias will go Simoun mode if Ibarra dies instead of him. Then again, there’s the possibility that if Ibarra dies Elias will revert to his old ways or such.

random pairing time! Maria Clara and Elias, how do you two feel about each other?

Maria:“Elias? You mean the pilot?” She strokes her chin thoughtfully. “He’s an interesting man, for sure. He’s quiet, mysterious, but he also has quite the air of sophistication around him.”

She laughs a bit. “Of course, those are rather surface-level descriptions. I would love to sit down and talk with him for a bit. I’m sure there’s more to him than just being a boatman.”

Elias:“The lady is courteous. Utterly kind as well. She knows how to empathize, and to reach out to those of a lower social status. She’s motherly as well, the kind of woman that many aspire to meet,” Elias says, pushing away a stray lock of hair behind his ear. “Quite like someone I once knew…”

His words falter, and his eyes wander elsewhere. A girl he once knew…?

placido, what do you think of juanito's violin-playing?

Placido cocked his head, focusing his attention to the muffled playing in the empty classroom beside the lab. He didn’t recognize the piece, but that seemed like a rather minute detail in this short moment. Placido didn’t need to cross over to the next door classroom to feel the emotion behind the notes. He can already hear it in the way Juanito drags the bow along the strings, slowly drawing out the rawness of the sound, in the vibrato, turning the piece into mournful song. If Placido closed his eyes and concentrated entirely on the music, he could imagine Juanito holding his heart out to him, a testament to the willpower he was pouring out to recreate a masterpiece in his own likeness. It was beckoning, and it was frustrating. 

It was beautiful.

“He plays…good, I guess.”

Ben-Zayb, how are the writing deadlines going? (lord knows i have some writing deadlines of my own)

Ben-Zayb set his pen down as calmly as he could. He massaged his temples gently, and sighed.

“Only God knows how the writing deadlines are going.”

Contrary to what Ben-Zayb thinks, his deadlines are moving rather fluidly. He’s quite a productive writer.
