Hmm? Oh no, even for a God, Oshihomimi hasn't spoken yet! He is young; his presence on this land has only been for around a year, so as far as I know, he has only babbled or barked.

All of the passing seasons of the Earth are my favorite.
There are seasons of Spring and Fall, hot Summers and frigid Winters. But seasons of rain and drought also play a large part of our world. Seasons of an endless night and an endless day run in the extreme North and South.
Seasons vary, but they all have the same function as part of the respiration of the being we know as our home. You walk outside your home and you feel our wonderful Earth breathing constantly, finally exhaling completely as it completes a rotation around the Great Light.
The seasons are wonderful, my friends. They bring troubles and yet bring wonders, and even if they seem to hurt our land, they can only rejuvenate it.
OOC: Hey there everyone! It's time for me to explain some headcanons pertaining to this blog.
Why am I going to type this all out in an essay like fashion instead of answering asks about them? Well, these headcanons are not the easiest to put into a story that Amaterasu will tell on her own. Plus, it would be very complicated to draw and would require several posts to explain the matter.
So without further hesitation, what's the deal with Shiranui, Amaterasu, and Oshihomimi (Chibiterasu) anyway?
So we all know that there are three main wolves that we know and love in the Okami series. We could all agree that they are all related to each other and carry similar powers, just differ in strength.
But as Chibiterasu is the sun to Ammy, what and who is Shiranui and what role will he play in this blog?
Sorry to say to you all, but Shiranui will be Amaterasu's father.
WAIT, WAIT, before you unfollow, that doesn't mean that Ammy isn't the reincarnation of Shiranui. In fact, she very much still is, along with Chibi being the reincarnation of Amaterasu.
Sounds confusing, right? How would Chibiterasu be alive if Amaterasu still lives as a goddess? And what about the time that Ishaku called Amaterasu "Ammy" when he obviously hung out with Shiranui?
Here's where the mouthful starts.
The Great Sun Deity is basically the TRUEST form of all three wolves, meaning that all three are the same being. Well, as much as its power is able to be kept in a mortal like form. This spiritual entity has no gender, no personality, and its form has never, ever been seen outside from a wolf or a human incarnation. The deity's power is too great that containing it in a form that is able to walk the Earth and make thoughtful, human decisions does not last long. So, like the life in our world, the deity reproduces another form before the last one 'dies,' hence why Shiranui fell to mortal wounds while the sun still shone.
Here we go to Amaterasu, who actually was a puppy at one time but slept for a whopping two hundred years. We'll go over that story some other time, but back to the main point. Amaterasu, now in her 'adult' stage of life, is ready to obtain all the power Shiranui lost in the battle against Orochi. If Yami never existed, Shiranui's inevitable death would have passed on the remaining piece of the deity onto her form, but it was only through finding the Celestial Brush Gods that led her to gain her true power.
However, there's a catch to this form of 'reincarnation.'
All three wolves have similar, but very distinct personalities. They are all the very basic essences based off human emotion: Shiranui being more of the serious and to the point personality, Chibiterasu being more playful and free spirited, and Amaterasu being more of a day dreamer and wishes to be more of a mortal than a god. (At least how this Ask Blog interprets her to be.) With her longing to be like a human, she raises Chibiterasu more like her son than a heir to the Sun Deity.
Along with personality, the form flip flops genders. One born male, and then female, and then male etc.
It really is to put more of a connection with humanity and Earth itself than to remain a shapeless entity, as prayers and devotion have seemingly become very important. What better way to connect with having a form that resembles man's best friend.
Even if Chibi was born right after the Celestial Plain was fixed, this does not mean Amaterasu is dying anytime soon. All the other children of the Celestial Brush Gods were created at the same time as Chibi because the Gods kind of played 'Simon Says' and quickly follow the footsteps of their leader Amaterasu.
Now here comes the errors in canon. I tried my best to fix this but to be honest, I cannot trace all my headcanon to the real story so I'll just have to settle with a bit of changes to the story. It's either possible that Shiranui told Ishaku at one point that if his incarnation ever roamed the Earth once more to honor the name as Amaterasu, or that Shiranui was nameless and took the alias of Amaterasu, his daughter, on his lone journey.
Now for Waka and for where Amaterasu has been during the adventure of Shiranui is another story that I WILL have visuals for in the future. It will tie everything I've written here together along with a certain story 'ark,' but I can't spoil that for you!
So, I hope I was able to get out as MUCH as I could. I really tried to make an abridged version on my headcanon as possible so it will have hiccups, but I hope you enjoyed!
Just remember that you will come out strong, no matter what the outcome may be. Only you can make the path to your happiness once more. So live on, dear friend, find those things that make you happy, no matter how small they can be.
The smallest little bits of happiness are all part of something great, you know.

What in the Heavens is THAT?!
From what I've seen, I've just been reduced to some damsel who's only goal is to find a male romantic partner!!
Those ghastly eyes... The revealing kimono... Why do I bear giant dumplings on my bosom like a priestess I met long ago??! My lady-loving Celestial Envoy, bless his heart, only portrayed me as the benevolent sun... And even he would be disgusted by this nonsense!
I do not wish to see more! I fear for the other "offerings" brings bad luck to even myself!

I've been a little slow with asks lately because of being with friends and family, but I'll try to pick right up soon!
What parts of Okamiden do you not take as canon, besides the extra brush Gods?
OOC: It's... Hard to pin everything down considering I don't want to spoil the next post I'm working on and since I haven't played the game(albeit I did spoil myself a couple of times to understand the story.)
Maybe I should say what I DO consider canon instead of saying the don'ts.
I do apologize for being text heavy instead of art. Please note that there are spoilers below the cut if you do read this.
- Sugawara was another member of the Moon Tribe that was able to escape the events that wiped them off existence, but unfortunately he met his demise soon after unlike Waka and Kaguya(Who... was probably in cryogenic sleep or something because the events happened more than two hundred years ago.
- The Celestial Brush Gods all had children, including the ones not seen in the game. Although they had to bring down the Gods from the Celestial Plain in order for gameplay to occur, it is possible that they can descend and rest in areas of great spiritual power.
- Shiranui is male and now a "different" entity than Amaterasu, also considered her father and Chibiterasu's grandfather. It really, really helps back up my own headcanon of "reincarnation" for the Gods in Okami.
- Chibiterasu is just a child. Besides that, his mother is the one deity with full power. Although it's a bit of a nuisance from my perspective, it is very well explained why Chibiterasu does not have free power of the sun. (Or moon for that matter.)
- Finally, I'm not going to say that Okamiden never happened. Chibiterasu did go on an adventure and met his partners, but I won't go into detailed asks about it.
That's all I can think of for now, but let's go to some canon ideas that really don't work out for me, thus they will not be visited in this Ask Blog.
- Otohime cannot turn into the Water Dragon without the Dragon Orb. There was a big sacrifice for her to be able to transform and it really takes the sorrowful feeling from that sacrifice.
- Magnetism and Guidance just feel solely like puzzle solvers than a power necessary for Shiranui to have. I know you can say the same thing for Catwalk and Power Slash, but in the original game, every power felt like it's own thing. I know Cat Walk has the same problem, but I have an idea for Kabegami that will change that. Plus, I like to keep it with the Zodiac. It's just a manner of theming that brings the Gods together.
And of course, for the final thing I don't take canon, you're going to have to wait until I post my newest answer!

I really do apologize for this. I know there are people who really do enjoy the game and would have liked me to have played both games so I can get the full story and experience. Unfortunately, since Clover split up after failing to sell the original game, Okamiden feels more like a game trying to be Okami than a game trying to be itself.
A sequel is meant to take a universe, but add a new story and bring something fresh to the table. Maybe Guidance and Magnetism could have been a different kind of deity or source of power, maybe Chibiterasu could have had different Divine Instruments. I know there is upgrading and the DS had limitations, but I loved how each weapon looked.
But, I'm not going to say if it's a good game or not. I feel guilty myself that I haven't played it and I can't give you a good analysis. I'm really sorry, but I hope you do keep enjoying this ask blog!
