KURT HUMMEL nyada - twenty one - countertenor       Hello, my name is Kurt Hummel and I'm currently a senior at the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYADA) I'm currently playing Elder Price from The Book of Mormon, and started my run on the 16th of June 2015. I've been living in New York for a while now, but I'm originally from Lima, Ohio. I was a part of William McKinley's New Directions and Cheerios, and was briefly a member of the Dalton Academy Warblers. Anyway, I came to New York with the hope of performing on Broadway. While this is something that has happened, I hope that I'll continue to have these successes, and go on to play Fiyero Tiggular (from Wicked) or Marius Pontmercy (from Les Miserables. I think everyone is trying to figure out what they’re supposed to do now. No one really expected things to go this way so I’m amazed that it worked out that we’re having to spend our time thinking about what to do now. I’m starting to believe he’s all talk and won’t be able to accomplish anything he wanted to because people seem to want to stand up to him now.

I think we can only hope that he won’t be able to do anything. I was hoping that he might have been exaggerating to get attention, but seeing the members of his Cabinet is making me less hopeful that it was an act. The Electoral College voting against him and voting for Hillary instead is to be the ideal outcome here, but it doesn’t seem that likely. We really can only hope he won’t be able to carry out any of his crazy ideas.

Honestly, I don’t think anyone has truly recovered from the results. I mean, I think even Hillary is putting on a brave face and Obama left the country to go to Denmark. Even worse, I just saw on here that Trump wanted the actors of Hamilton to apologize to Mike Pence for saying rude things. I just have no words at this point.

I think she is, and honestly, I wouldn’t blame her. Hillary has spent her life working in politics only to lose to someone like him. It would be devastating for anyone. And I saw that as well - it’s so hypocritical. He has offended so many people and not apologised once. Trump has no right to demand an apology off the Hamilton cast when they weren’t being hateful when he hasn’t even admitted he’s done anything wrong. He’s such a hypocrite.

I don’t think anybody’s really recovered.  The whole country’s just…gone crazy, or something.  This whole year is like that moment in movies when time travellers go home and realize they messed the future up somehow.  The only problem is there’s not anyone around to fix it.

It does feel like that or it’s one of those horror movies when everyone’s stuck in a nightmare. I’m really hoping that next year will better, but it seems like it’s going to be just as bad as this year.

I just can’t believe the world has come to this - Brexit was bad enough, but now there’s our election, and while it’s next year, there’s someone in the French election that wants to ban same-sex adoption. It’s scary that people with that kind of thinking are becoming more vocal after it seemed like people were actually becoming more acceptive.

I think throwing darts at photos of Cheeto-Man would actually be incredibly therapeutic.

I still haven’t recovered over the election results. I know that 2016 is shaping up to be one of the worst years ever, but I think after a deranged, bigoted Cheeto getting into power over a woman who actually knows what she’s doing because of a corrupt system has pushed 2016 into the realms of being beyond redemption. I can’t even hope he’ll be impeached because his V.P is some how worse. The next four years are going to be hell. The world’s already a mess and this isn’t going to help.

Ahh, I see. Hmm, I mean if it is a rumor, then we won’t know the complete truth until the developers say something about it. I have seen people drive in their cars just mindlessly driving to find Pokemon and have been in accidents. Even people who have to be admitted into the hospital or ER but ask the question of “Did I at least catch it?” It is way bizarre and hopefully since the game is not that popular, we can see less of those crazy stories.

People have seriously been wondering if they caught it after endangering themselves? They seriously need a reality check. It’s one thing to walk into traffic or drive your car playing it and realising it was stupid after they got into an accident, but people not learning from their mistakes is why games like this have such a bad reputation. But thankfully, I think we’re getting less of these ridiculous stories. It would suck if it ended up beign banned because some people don’t have any common sense.

Hopefully it’ll become more inclusive to everyone and it won’t have to end in people resorting to use things like that. The fact that they’re banning people from it for using cheats is probably the most ridiculous part because they’re the ones that made it impossible for people to fully enjoy the game.

I can actually understand why they’re banning people because it is against the rules and it makes it unfair for the people who are playing legitimately.  But I do think it’s unfair that they’re banning people permanently. Especially when they’ve only cheated once or twice. Repeat offenders, I can understand but some people are just cheating because they don’t realise that it is against the rules.

So, I’ve decided that before I start looking for auditions again that I’d go back to Lima. It’s a week or two before I go but either my dad or Carole must have been telling the neighbours about it because one of them just phoned me and asked me if I could cat sit for her when she’s at work. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this.

They just need to make it possible for everyone to enjoy the game and not force people into using cheats because it’s not possible for them to get everything from the game that they want. Making it that you can only find certain ones in specific areas is limiting people who don’t have those sort of enviroments majorly.

They do, but I think people are always going to cheat at the game because they don’t want to actually work for anything. But they definitely need to make it less restrictive. You can get all the Pokémon by hatching them but it’s not fair some people need to do that to get some of them just because they live in the wrong part of the country or even just the wrong country in some cases.

Ooh, that does seem a lot better than what it is now. I mean people get into accidents just because you have to walk aimlessly just to catch a Pikachu or a rarer Pokemon. I mean, there are just sacred places not to put Pokestops or whatever it is called. Since the game came out, I have heard outrageous stories of people playing while driving or walking out on a busy street just to catch Pokemon. I am kind of glad it is dying down because traffic is already bad in New York without this game.

People were still wandering blindly before but it was nowhere near as bad as it was now. I think they are having an opt out thing soon so some places don’t won’t need to put up with that anymore, but I’m not sure how true that is. It’s insane how much danger people are willing to put themselves in just for Pokémon. I love the game but I’d never do that. Well, I think the traffic is always going to be bad here but I know what you mean. And if there’s less people playing then there’s less chance of all  these crazy stories of people risking their lives for a Dragonite.

I think they’re going to have to try some different tactics if they want to draw players back into the game. Once people lose interest, it’s hard to get them to enjoy it again unless you can offer something good. I’m sure they’re doing just fine even with the loss of player or they wouldn’t be putting money into creating new things for the game. They probably made a lot since I’m sure people paid money for in-app purchases to help them while they were playing.

They definitely do or at least do enough to keep people interested enough to keep playing so they didn’t lose too many followers. The idea of more Pokémon might attract some again but it’s not true to everyone will be interested in that. They definitely need to sort out any glitches because that’s why so many people stopped playing to begin with, and they need to balance out the items as well. Some people have paid a ridiculous amount in the in-app store just to play it properly and it’s not really fair when the developers should actually be making it fair for everyone.

I’ve seen quite a few stories about people losing interest in the game now so I’m sure there will be some update soon. People are fickle and unless they’re getting what they want out of something they’re going to move on rather quickly. I haven’t had the urge to start playing but from what I’ve heard from my friends who have, New Haven isn’t such a terrible place for players to live. I’m not sure what we have to offer or if it’s any different than what you can find in New York.

Well, apparently there’s an update coming where you can walk with your Pokémon so hopefully that will keep people interested. Even if the ones who are fickle will stay around for a little longer than they normally would. It is a fun game to play but it is completely dependant on where you live and if you’re not a fan of the game and/or from when you were a kid, I can get why the appeal isn’t there. I’m not sure how much variation there would be  but considering it’s a city, I think there should be more to do with the game than there would be in rural places. I think New York is only one of the best places to go because it’s a popular tourist place

They’ll either fix it or the next big thing will come out so people forget all about it. I’ve seen people share things on Facebook that there are already people who have caught practically every single Pokemon so it’s going to get to the point where people are left with nothing to do. They’ll have to do something to make it new and exciting again since I’m sure they weren’t expecting people to get so far in the game so quickly after it’s release.

I wouldn’t be surprised if both happens. There’s still a few people playing because it’s popular so while I think the flaws wiil be fixed, a few more people will stop playing once they find something that’s ‘better’. I can’t believe there’s people who have caught all the available Pokemon. Especially considering some people have caught them all so early. I have got quite a lot but I think that’s just because New York is just good for finding them rather than some people who have just been walking non stop and spending a lot of money on the game to get that far. They will be adding more Pokémon later because they only have the original Pokémon just now but they will need to do something more with the game soon to keep other people who haven’t been fans for years interested in the game.

I wasn’t even aware of what the old tracking system did or was. Oh I have heard about there being Pokemon in historical museums or very religious buildings where people go to worship. I really think the developers need to rethink the locations a bit. I think the game has died down a bit since the heat has been going up and down. It would be a nice, relaxing day to ourselves!

It actually let you know if you were getting closer to the Pokemon or not rather than having to wander around aimlessly to find them. The developers really should’ve thought more. I understand that they didn’t know some places were inappropriate but there’s some places that’s just so obvious that you shouldn’t be playing the game there. I think it’s definitely dying down so hopefully with  a little less people playing, there won’t be as many people doing absolutely ridiculous things playing it. And it really would be nice.
