Very well. How do I explain in your terms. 

Niv Mizzet is the leader of the clan I am a part of. He plays a similar role to you as teacher and leader. And just like you he fancies himself the most powerful and most intelligent being around. Even Niv Mizzet’s color scheme is similar to yours. The only real difference is that you also have feathers.

On virtues and laws

In an ideal society, one would not need rules to govern the people; they would all simply understand what is best, and their actions would reflect this. In an ideal society, everyone would know what to do and what not to, though no one ever told them; it would simply be a choice a logic. Sadly, we do not live in this society, though we strive to reach it. So instead we find ourselves relying on laws. A law alone however, means nothing to a person in lack of the knowledge to see why it has been put in place; who and what it protects. Therefore we educate. We teach the people, so they better may understand their place in the world and the function of the laws. And if we some day would reach a state of absolute societal understanding and enlightenment, the laws would retire themselves, crutches useless now that everyone has learned to walk. This is how we maintain harmony, by letting knowledge and law walk hand in hand.

Let's say you met another dragon. Matches your wisdom by their intelligence and roughly your strength level. Has an overinflated ego and has been prone to irrational acts. How would you view this dragon?

This hypothetical dragon seems like an unenlightened individual, as proven by their irrationality. I would view them as someone with potential, but an untamed one, that would need to be tempered through learning and training.

One shows only red, while the others show different lengths of white in the middle of it... Which is true? Have your portrait-painters misrepresented your perfection, or can your feathers and scales change color?

Some depictions are more stylistic than others, and some are imperfect simply because humans make mistakes.

Silumgar is definitely cruel and oppressive, as he literally kills anyone he feels like.  Atarka does the same.  Kolaghan slightly less so, I suppose?  Dromoka and you both literally wiped out an entire way of life.
