Ugin
Ugin:What was the worse time somebody ruined your plans/project?
Okay let me tell you one of the many reasons I hate Selesnyans.
I was working on a personal project in my apartment rather than in the labs. Anyway it was very time sensitive. I needed to wait to just when the mana mixture hit a certain temperature to cut the power for it to cool properly into a crystallized form.
Most the older mizzium pipes around here build up a residue from continued use, not quite rust because it doesn’t corrode the metal though. I found that it can hold a charge. Basically I was trying to create a more stable version of that.
Anyway, I had everything set up and my experiment was underway. The temperature was climbing at a steady rate and I was ready to kill the switch. Then I hear a knock at my door. A damn Selesnyan was trying to spread ‘The Holy Word of the World Soul’ or some crap. And no, I found out you can’t just wait it out with Selesnyans in hopes they will just leave. They got this life detection magic so they KNOW you’re in there.
I keep waiting for my experiment but they keep on knocking and knocking! And I hear their damned voices claiming they were doing the good work of Mat’Selesnya and how I can be saved. Excuse you I CANNOT get away from this experiment its almost at the crystal state.
Nope. They keep on persisting. I got frustrated and yelled at them to go away and shove Vitu Ghazi up their ass. They finally went away but it was too late and waaaayy past the point that I needed to cut the power. My experiment exploded and now that Mizzium residue is all over my stuff in my apartment.
Fuck. You. Selesnya.

Bant: What is a rule you will never break?
Now that is a difficult question because as soon as I name any sort of personal ‘rule’ I’m going to find a way to break it.
I give credit where it’s due I don’t plagiarize in my reports to the Guild or otherwise. It just feels wrong to steal another’s idea or spell.
//Guess who just realized she actually has a thing in her inbox here. It me. I am a dumb.

He glanced back from the board for a moment to the woman. Placing the chalk back down he turned around to face her with arms crossed. He was a little annoyed about the situation but he wasn’t going to be rude.
“ As I am sure you are aware guild productivity has tripled in the last year. However this causes us to face the problem of power usage. Like the rest of Ravnica the guild gains its power from the grid… with productivity at an all time high we face draining power from the local area causing problems for the gateless as well as a rise in power fee’s. “
Gesturing back to the board he points towards the current set of equations and designs that he was working on.
“ Currently I am trying to devise a way to avoid this problem by creating a renewable energy source for guild use. if its successful.. it could in fact become the main source for power in Ravnica.. a whole new guild achievement. “
Zeico stared at the chalk board and back at Ral. “Renewable energy huh... Brilliant,” she muttered under her breath. Well, if it’s successful. She was as sick of the constant blackouts as any other member of the guild.
His current plan on the chalkboard looked solid so far, as a concept. Okay that was generous. The amount of energy it required to have the reaction far outweighed anything it produced, no wonder he was frustrated.
“Okay, Sir,” Zeico was unsure what he preferred to be called, “how do you plan on tackling this problem? And is there anything you need me to do?” she thought it best to just get straight to business with Ral, though he seemed reluctant to have help in the first place.
20 minutes into enthralling and chill, and he gives you this look
transcendentxnlightenment:
Narset leaned over the desk slightly, watching intently as the Izzet drew her plans. She found that a few of the concepts used in the woman’s designs of the weird were similar to what she had read on her homeplane. Yet, it was all too complicated still. And if Zeico could not help her, maybe the armor was a better place to start, after all.
The monk was torn from her thoughts when the other woman took the notes away. Eyes widening in surprise, the planeswalker had to force herself to not reach out and take them from Zeico’s hands.
“N-no, it’s alright!” She smiled, a bit awkwardly. “I am interested in this. Could you show me more about making armor?”
Zeico looked at Narset slightly dumfounded. Wait someone actually wanted her help? Especially from outside the guild? Her mouth quickly morphed into a goofy grin. “Thank you Narset!” She said a little too loudly for a library. An older librarian gave the Izzet a stern look before disappearing back into the stacks of books. Zeico hushed her tone but excitement still leaked through.
“Most my old,” the Izzet eyed her current gauntlets, “and current designs are very clunky. While I can function with them, you look like you move around a bit more. Good chance to streamline and add articulation.” Truthfully Zeico was looking for an excuse to refine her own equipment so working with Narset could give her more skills.
“Okay. What we need to know is where you most need protection.” The izzet drew out something vaguely human shaped and marked limbs out.
“Who is this Dirtmage child and how did they get in my lab?!”
transcendentxnlightenment:
Narset fidgeted a bit in place, feeling slightly awkward under the other woman’s stare. One dull brown eye peeked from the side of the stack of books, as the monk tried to get a better look at Zeico.
“I…” She hesitated, trying to think of a way to answer. She should have dressed in a more Ravnican manner, the planeswalker scolded herself. Ojutai robes were nothing like this plane’s fashion; no wonder people asked questions.
“I was thinking of something like a… golem?”
It was the one thing she had a bit of experience with; if ancient Jeskai blueprints, most of them incomplete, could be called experience.
“I had not considered making armor until now…”
“A golem... hmm...” Zeico motioned for Narset to follow to a nearby empty table, where she flipped to a blank page in her notebook. “I have just about zero experience with those. Guess they are pretty similar to weirds but purely out of a mineral.”
She began drawing crude plans to a weird. “Now they are usually powered by some sort of element or well two opposing elements... I don’t know exactly how it works on golems.” The scribbles vaguely resembled a humanoid shape with some elemental symbols to the sides.
“Armor however might be easier mainly because you don’t have to worry about sentience...” Zeico flipped through the older pages until she saw her old gauntlet designs. “Plus it can be as simple as just manipulating the material into...” The Izzet trailed on about different processes to shape mizzium and how grooves in a gauntlet can serve both to overall strengthen the piece and decrease weight.
“...plus the first prototype almost never works. Oh shit! I’m sorry I got really carried away there...” Zeico grabbed at her notes to put them away.
askojutai:
I must correct you, as is my role and duty as Great Teacher. I speak the truth, whereas your so-called Niv-Mizzet is a liar. No dragon, nor human, nor any other creature, is my equal in intelligence.
And I speak the truth as well. And Niv-Mizzet would say the same of himself.

A feathered Niv Mizzet and some oddly dressed hunter. Well that is an odd combination to encounter in such short succession.
I do not know the hunter, but I will however address your comment regarding me, as I find it not only insulting, being reduced to naught but my physical appearance, but also highly confusing, being compared to a creature that obviously can not exist. So what I ask of you, little human, is that you explain yourself. I am willing to give you that chance.
Very well. How do I explain in your terms.
Niv Mizzet is the leader of the clan I am a part of. He plays a similar role to you as teacher and leader. And just like you he fancies himself the most powerful and most intelligent being around. Even Niv Mizzet’s color scheme is similar to yours. The only real difference is that you also have feathers.
transcendentxnlightenment:
Narset grinned; it was an awkward sort of smile, yet her excitement was quite obvious, as well.
“Thank you,” she uttered, her face almost entirely hidden behind the books in her arms, the only indication of her expression being the tone of her voice.
“It is not for a class. I… I am simply interested in learning more about the subject, and trying some new spells.”
At that moment, the woman recalled she had never introduced herself to the generous Izzet.
“My name is Narset,” she added hastily, embarrassment seeping into her voice. “I am sorry for not introducing myself earlier.”
“It’s alright. I’m usually bad with asking for names too. I’m Zeico by the way.” The Izzet climbed down and got a good look at Narset, well except her face.
Although she acted awkwardly, Narset carried herself and all the books with grace and ease. And up close, the details on her robes and armor looked even more outlandish, perhaps self made? It would explain why the markings matched no guild.
“Are you going to make armor? I’ve never seen a design like that.”
