Introduction post!

Hello. I thought I would try one of these out to meet some new friends. Oh but, please be wary. If I seem a bit off from my normal behavior.... Well, I get sick often....eheheh. OOC beyond here Mun is an adult. That said, Ryou is a teenager, so no nsfw asks. I will just ignore you. Ships are fine so long as they are sfw. No racism, slurs, ect. Other than that? Have fun. I will write for the different divergent canons. I enjoy them all. And I can do post canon or during canon. If you have a preference for which one then just specify. Might double this as place to blog vaguely Ryo related things. (I do spell his name both ways) * I know his family name should come first, but that url was taken.

I have been curious for a while, and while this is a bit of an introspective topic than can go on into tangents I will try to make it quick. I have often wondered how my life would have turned out if the ring never came to me, (along with all the tragedies that could have been prevented.) So much of all of our journeys were contingent on small details that could have easily been taken away, no? I know you don't particularly believe in fate (so I feel like you may humor me Mr Kaiba- where as everyone else seems to chalk things up to the aforementioned concept.) What do you think would have happened in your life if the former Kaiba never happened upon you? In a way, (if we are to humor the fate concept) he was something of your millennium item no? The catalyst that threw you into the whole ... how do I say this, grand play of the greatest duel to transcend centuries... was being adopted by that horrible man. Oh. I feel that may sound a bit dramatic. Please excuse me ^^. @askryoubakura

The silence between them was a long one, as Kaiba struggled to process the audacity with which Bakura Ryou had asked this question. This had to be psychological warfare, he couldn't quite imagine any other motive that the other could have for asking such a heavy handed question after so many years spent as strangers. He contemplated if he should bother answering this question at all, if he were to answer, what would he say?

As much as he would have hoped to have an answer to this question, he found himself without words, wrenching his mouth open to speak only to choke on his own tongue and shut it once more.

What would have become of him?

Kaiba sucked in a deep breath, leveling his gaze on Bakura before finally spitting out, "There's nothing to say," his voice was firm, a practiced cadence he had spent years mastering, "dwelling on pointless hypotheticals serves no purpose- until you manage to find a way to change the past, I see little reason to sit here entertaining your 'what if's." His eyes flick toward the door, then back to Bakura. "You can leave now."

Ryō's face fell. His brown eyes were glued to the other, examining each and every micro expression like his life depended on it (and surely, in the past deciphering other's mental states before they could react was something his life had depended on many times.) It seemed as though it really was an impossible question to answer hmm? If someone who prided themselves on stepping on fate's eyes couldn't even gather the words... "I see. I am sorry to bother you with it then"

Ryō did not truly believe there was nothing to say, but rather nothing that Kaiba wanted to say. He would respect that, or at the very least, he would try. "That said" He started again, swallowing his own foot. "I don't think the hypothesis is pointless. Is putting your mind into various thought experiments not how you strengthen your own sense of self?" Ah... and that was projection. To be sure, Kaiba likely felt his own personality taken hostage, and manipulated by Gozaburo- but that is not a one for one comparison with downright possession. Though, surely the former Kaiba was something of a demon unto himself through actions he took alone.

This may feel a bit out of the blue, but I felt as though I should check in on you.

We hardly talk much, but I can't imagine anyone in the group is unscathed by our journeys at this point- and I know for a fact you aren't.

I am sorry if that came off a bit rude though.

Anywho, I've just been a bit worried about everyone lately is all. Are you two doing alright? Mokuba hasn't been harassed by any kidnappers lately has he?- I do know some self defense if you would like me to teach him. As an added layer of security.

"I don't need you digging into my personal business, nor do I need you to insert yourself into Mokuba's. We've had incidents in the past, yes. But Mokuba is safe. Keeping him that way is my job, understand?"

Where was all of this coming from, anyway? They hadn't spoken in... Ever. Seto was aware of Ryou, but had scarcely made himself a problem. For the most part - and for the most part, they had no business with each other.

"Oh yes, of course. Perfectly fine. Sorry I implied other wise.... And I am sorry to be nosey. We all care about Mokuba's safety is all. Anzu practically threw him out a window to save him from pursuers once- if I remember correctly." At this point Ryo worried if reaching out was a mistake, but then again his sense of a bad, dangerous or even deadly idea has been mis-conditioned for a long time. It was safe to try and make friends surely, at least with people who could hold their own. "Then again, simply asking a question isn't digging is it? So long as the person doesn't push past boundaries?"
