“Sapphire Birch, ya know. Daughter of the Professor. If ya know him.” She grins. Always has to mention her Papa, of course. Loud and proud. 

“Huh? What’re you talkin’ about? It’s just a handshake, ya know. Surely you’ve shaken someone’s hand before.” The only other person who had been grossed out by it was none other than Ruby. But that was a mite understandable, he wouldn’t want ‘germs’ or whatever to get on him. 

“Besides, spit won’t do nothin’ to ya. I can think of at least a handful of other things that would be a lot more dangerous to yer health.”

“Sapphire.. Birch..” Lyra titled her head at the name. There was a sort of familiar ring to it.. Professor Birch! Now she knew why it sounded familiar. “Brendan! Are you related to him by any chance?” She asked, tilting her head once more.

“Yeah.. I know it is.. But you spit into your hand.. That seems really.. Ehh.” She shrugged. She never really was that big on hygiene and stuff.. But the thought of shaking a saliva filled hand seemed to make her flinch.  “Ah?” She turned to face her. “More dangerous stuff.. Like?” The brunette chuckled.

Sapphire tilted her head right back at her. "Brendan? Never heard of him. I don't got any siblings. Maybe some distant relative I've never met, or somethin'." Brendan. Seemed like a Birch sort of name. But who was that, anyway? No idea.

"Ya silly. Shakin' hands won't do nothin'. I'm tellin' ya. It's just polite is all." Most people from Hoenn do that. Right? Sapphire sure seems to think so.

"Dangerous stuff is my specialty! Every single day I go out into the forest and see pokemon and jump vines and fight! There's nothin' I'd rather do. But I'm guessin' that ain't your sort of thing."
