Hi! This is an ask/art blog for married Sonadow. Asks will be answered with doodles, comics, and sometimes even animations. So have fun and send some asks!

Their personalities are gonna be based loosely on Adventure Era, in the sense that I’ve taken SA2 Sonic and Shadow and jumped forward a few years to when they’re married. This is to say, they’re mean but deeply in love. They're following mostly game canon but I'll borrow bits from other media too.

They are both fat and don't want kids, let them live their life smh

They also have two cats now! Their names are Darkness and Chilli

Sonic will answer in blue, Shadow will answer black and bold.

Shadow hated himself for a long time. He thought he was basically worthless; didn’t deserve friendship or love or any of that. So when a guy like that starts dating you, you gotta wonder… does he just think you’re the only other guy in the world worthless enough to love him? When he heals, when he finally knows how awesome he is, when he sees his worth… is he gonna want somebody better? When he figures out he can have anyone he wants, is he gonna aim higher than the guy he settled for when he hated himself?

Shadow, you're famously awful at taking compliments, but what happens when a fan says something genuinely sweet to you and you actually get a little flustered? Sonic, does seeing Shadow look soft for someone else instantly drive you up the wall, or do you just get extra whiny about it?

I don’t get flustered by other people. Not in a good way, anyway. I’ve had compliments from strangers make me uncomfortable, or make me self conscious, but not pleasantly flustered.

That said, I do appreciate some things people have said, and I have offered genuine smiles and thanks in return.

It… kinda drives me up the wall. But he knows that, so he plays it up. And I know he’s playing it up, so I don’t really feel that bad about it.

Sonic, you usually look like you want to jump out of your quills when a stranger or fan tries to hug you. How long did it take you to get used to Shadow just casually grabbing you? Also, Shadow, how do you handle fans who try to get too close to Sonic in public? Do you step in with a glare, or do you just let Sonic awkward-laugh his way out of it?

Yeahhh, not super into being touched by anybody I’m not super close with.

I guess it was a slow shift for both of us. He wasn’t used to showing affection, so it was years before he was casual about it. By then I was kinda used to it. And besides, it felt kinda special, coming from someone like Shadow. Like when a grumpy cat rubs their head on you and purrs for the first time. It’s such an honour, you kinda freeze up and let it happen, not wanting to ruin it.

I am not a grumpy cat.

I used to always step in when anyone tried to get too close to him. Sonic appreciated that I could defuse the situation without him having to actually turn anyone down. Everyone knows I’m grumpy, and they expect me to be somewhat possessive.

He has been learning to advocate for himself and set his own boundaries, so I only step in if he looks like he’s struggling, now.

Shadow, you’re married to a guy who considers processed cheese and chili a gourmet meal. What is the most depressing thing you’ve caught Sonic eating over the sink at 3 AM?

To be fair on Sonic, he knows his fast food favourites aren’t gourmet. He just enjoys them. But he prefers my cooking.

I don’t like to think of any food as depressing. It was depressing when he couldn’t eat, like after his Death Egg imprisonment, or when he came home from the Starfall Islands. Eating anything is always better than eating nothing.

Shadow, what is a tiny, quiet habit of Sonic’s that made you realize, "Yeah, I’m actually going to spend the rest of my life with this idiot"?

Advocating for me.

In front of his friends, his fans, total strangers… Sonic has been advocating for me and my wellbeing for years. He shuts down any doubts or comments from anyone, shuts down my own doubts when others start to get to me, notices my discomfort in social situations and excuses us both so that we can leave.

Seeing just how in tune he was with my needs made me realise he was serious about this.

Shads doesn’t need it, but I gotta out it anywhere the fur’s pale and fine.

Sonic, you like to talk a big game, but who is actually the first one to apologize after you two have a massive, house-shaking argument?

We’re both stubborn as fuck, so it takes a while for either of us.

I mean, somethin’ small, I’ll apologise right away; Shadow won’t, but I know which of his pouty huffs means he’s sorry. But somethin’ big? Well, guess it depends who needs to hear it more. Neither of us is good at admitting we’re wrong, so we usually apologise with actions.

Since you're both living that child-free life, which one of you is more likely to completely spoil your cats, Darkness and Chili, while the other tries (and fails) to act like the strict parent?

Shadow for sure spoils his little furbabies. … Huh, that word doesn’t really make sense for Mobians, does it? Most of our babies are furbabies.

Sonic is hardly a strict parent, though.

Yeahhhh we kinda both spoil ‘em. But you treat Darkness like a little princess!

Shadow, what is the single most annoying habit Sonic has developed since you two got married, and why is it leaving empty chili dog wrappers on your pristine chaos emerald collection?

It’s not, and he doesn’t. I only keep one Chaos Emerald, in a box.

The most annoying habit he has developed is keeping things from me if he thinks they’ll upset me. But he’s slowly learning to break that habit.

Sonic, We know you still use a flip phone because you 'like the way it feels,' but be honest: how many times a day does Shadow text you "Where are you?" in all caps because you forgot to check it?

Not that often!! I’m usually either with Shadow, or he knows I’ll show up eventually.

And what about all the times you disappear when we’re in the middle of an errand, distracted by something or other, and I have to find you to get you back on track?

Heh, I mean, can’t really blame that on the flip phone.

Y’know, it’s funny, but I actually have thought about it?

The lifestyle kinda appeals to me, I gotta say. But being stuck on a boat, nowhere to run? I’d die.

I am used to a certain level of comfort and luxury that a pirate ship simply could not offer me.
