āIs there something youād like to say to my face?ā
āWhat about a compromise? Iāll kill them first, and if it turns out they were friendly, Iāll apologize.ā
āNo killing! We donāt kill around here.ā

āProtecting the city? I know a thing or two about that. Sometimes tough calls have to be made.ā
āAnd those calls get made if thereās no other way. If thereās a better a way. A way that doesnāt end in a body count then thatās the way they go.ā
Buffy quirked a brow at the other and forced back a smile. āYou sound like a friend of mine. Always look for the better option...Fine, you win. Iāll behave and keep my hands to myself.ā

āSo youād rather be sitting ducks? We have to do something before they do.ā
āWeāre not sitting ducks. Star City is a different place to what youāre used to. Thereās people out there who are out there, protecting the city.ā

I donāt understand how this all happens, how we go through this. I mean, I knew her and then sheās⦠thereās just a body and I donāt understand why she just canāt get back in it and not be dead anymore. Itās stupid. Itās mortal and stupid.
Spike: I must be a noble vampire. A good guy. On a mission of redemption. I help the hopeless. Ā Iām a vampire with a soul.
Buffy: A vampire with a soul? Oh my god, how lame is that?

"Well, Iāve only lived in New York City about a year now, but Iām starting to believe just about anything could happen here. Whereād you say you were from?ā
āSunnydale, California. Itās a shitty little town that basically resembles a hell-hole.ā The blonde chuckled slightly at the little pun she threw in there, knowing that the man before her had no idea just how right she was.

River managed to do as she asked and slowly calm herself - which really was no easy feat for someone who had no control of pushing thei emotions away. But the more she worked at it, the clearer things got, if only for a few minutes. āThey know so much. Watchers.ā She whispered, hearing the blondeās thoughts. āGotta bide their time, not all the Watchers agree.ā
Buffy sighed and ran her hands through her hair.Ā āWe need a plan, plans are good and-and helpful!ā This wasnāt what she was good at-thinking. She was a doer but the problem was that she had no clue what to do in this situation.Ā
&- my muse just did something stupid that almost got them killed. yell at them

Sucking in a small breath as she felt Buffyās fingertips on the small scar on her lower back, Willow slowly let it out, knowing that the touch was safe. It was a scar that she had told no-one of, the memories of its origin only bringing back more pain from Taraās death. Closing her eyes, she tried to relax. The spell had taken enough energy out of her that she could scarcely move, and just having Buffy near her made everything better.
Willow felt a little more at ease once she heard Buffy say she believed her. She knew, at first glance, what she had said sounded crazy, and if she hadnāt seen it, she herself wouldnāt have had believed it even for a moment. But she had seen Tara, she was sure of it. The way the ball of light, the tiny Tinkerbell light she had seen so many times before, had talked to her, in that familiar soft tone, it left not a single doubt in her mind.Ā
"Sheā¦she came aroundā¦when I felt sadā¦said she loved meā¦" She explained, the memory making a smile come to her lips as tears welled in her eyes. "ā¦that s-she was watching meā¦"Ā
Buffy smiled at the redhead and took her hand, giving it a soft squeeze.Ā āAnd she was telling the truth. Mom used to always say that anyone we lost would protect us and stick around as long as we needed them.ā A statement which technically proved incorrect but Willow didnāt need to hear that. She needed her best friend to be supportive which was exactly what Buffy could offer.Ā āTara will always be with you, Will. It might not be in the way that you want, but sheās there. And thatās pretty amazing if you think about it.ā

Tara immediately looked away, the fear of letting anyone into one of the things she had held onto for so long enough to make her want to cower. She knew that she trusted Buffy, just as she was sure the Slayer trusted her in every way imaginable. She had been there for her when the uncertainty of whether or not she had been brought back wrong plagued her.Ā
"Iā¦Iā¦" She stammered, trying desperately to start the sentence. "Iā¦I remember what happened to my Mom..I w-w-was very y-young, when it happenedā¦butā¦Iā¦I t-think D-Daddy killed herā¦"Ā
Tara felt immediately anxious, knowing that Buffy, thus far, wasnāt believing her. Sighing, she nodded, and tried to continue with the memories, themselves hard to deal with in every regard. āIā¦I remember hearing t-them fightingā¦and t-there was a loud b-b-bangā¦ā She went silent for a moment. āThey t-t-told us she died by f-falling and hitting the b-bed-postā¦but Iā¦I k-know he d-did itā¦he p-pushed herā¦āĀ
āTara, sweetie, if you didnāt see it, how do you know for sure that it was his fault?ā She didnāt blame Tara for jumping to that conclusion. In the (thankfully) short time Buffy had been exposed to Taraās father it was easy to see that he was by no means a good guy. But did that make him capable of murdering his own wife? Buffy was dubious.
