And all the result of the unjustifiable exploitation of the reproductive systems of hens! Some quick facts in light of the tags claiming that buying hens eggs of “local” farmers (or even backyard hen exploiters) should be supported:
~ Even when it comes to the tiny number of hens exploited for their eggs who aren’t kept in either cages or sheds where access to the outside is extremely limited or non existent. Its important to remember that chickens originate from, and still naturally inhabit, tropical rainforests where they have evolved “happily” for millions of years. Their brains, behaviours and natural instincts have been shaped by this. So the environment a “pasture raised” or “backyard egg” hen is kept in to be exploited for their reproductive systems is still an artificial, foreign environment in which chickens feel vulnerable and exposed to predators, and these chickens frequently exhibit heightened cortisol levels (a stress hormone) and many other signs of distress. It also often places them in harms way and breaks up their natural social order.
~ Most hens, even backyard egg hens, are purchased from hatcheries that supply the meat and egg industries. These hatcheries also practice cruelties such as murdering baby male chicks on mass. So the very act of buying an egg from these places is paying for the mass slaughter of day old male chicks. Which is deeply unethical.
~ Egg laying hens from even the most local, small time “free range” farms are still brutally murdered when their egg production drops. Farms simply cannot be economically viable otherwise. And typically, this is around 72 weeks old. And of course, the vast majority of farmed hens end up being murdered far before their natural lifespan.
~ And when it comes to the slaughter process itself, many hens regain consciousness after stunning and before they die (they have been shown to recover consciousness after as little as 22 seconds) which means that they are still conscious when having their throats slit. As a result, a large amount of these hens are also still alive when they are submerged in scalding water tanks which remove their feathers pre butchering. Buy buying eggs, you are paying for the brutal murder of “spent” egg laying hens as well as baby male chicks.

http://chng.it/WhQbBWJ5h7 Here's is a petition you can sign to get some justice for AJ and his family.
While you’re at it:
Malik was a 23 year old paraplegic man who was shot at 84 times by the police.
He was sitting in the passengers side of a car and someone had called the cops on the driver of the car, a White Woman, for yelling.
Before the cops murdered Malik, they told the White Woman to “Run”.

Justice for Vanessa Guillen
Vanessa Guillen is a 20- year-old Soldier stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. She was last seen on April 22 at 1p.m. in the parking lot of her Regimental Engineer Squadron Headquarters on Fort Hood. She is of Hispanic descent, five feet, two inches tall, 126 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Vanessa was last seen wearing a black shirt, light purple leggings and black Nike tennis shoes. Vanessa has the tattoo of a cross with a flower on her left arm, another flower also on the left arm, and a mountain with a circle on her upper left shoulder. She has a small mole between her lower mouth, and her chin.
My name is Vanessa Guillen. I knew I wanted to join the US Army to proudly serve my country as soon as I graduated from high school. I loved the US Army until I got to Fort Hood. I disappeared from Fort Hood, Texas on April 22, 2020. Three weeks before I disappeared, my mom asked me why I seemed different. My mom knows me better than anyone else. She noticed I had become withdrawn and that I wasn’t able to sleep like I used to. I finally told my mom that I was being sexually harassed by one of my sergeants on Fort Hood. My mom tried tried to convince me to give her the name of the person who was harassing me, but I didn’t want to get in trouble. My mom told me that she would report it for me, but I told her that I knew of other female soldiers that had reported sexual harassment and that the US Army didn’t believe them. I told my mom how the same sergeant that sexually harassed me would follow me whenever I would run and exercise and how uncomfortable it made me feel. My mom told me she would put a stop to it, but I told her I would take care of it myself. I felt I could put a stop to it myself. All I had to do was do something, say something. I was ready to take care of it. But I have been missing ever since. I didn’t get a chance to give my mom a name. I didn’t get a chance to report it to anyone. Please don’t forget about me.
