MOVING BACK TO MY OLD BLOG
@finalizer-sys (name subject to change)
I'm seeing a lot of people say that punk fashion is expensive and inaccessible, which is very wrong. here is a list of some ways you can make punk fashion easier, cheaper and more accessible for you, since that's... kinda the whole point.
others are encouraged to add onto this!! (just don't recommend corporations like amazon. not cool.)
1. patches!! you don't need to buy them. DIY patches are not ugly or boring. in fact, they are encouraged here!! DIY, in my opinion, is always the best thing to do when it is an option and is safe to do so.
2. speaking of DIY, spikes!! you can make them!!
cut the top and bottom off of an empty can. cut down the middle of the cylinder and flatten it, so it's just a flat rectangle of metal.
cut out a shape that is kind of a third of a circle, but around 3/4 of the curved edge is taken up by triangle shapes. (I'm not very good at describing, so here's a badly drawn picture)
roll it into a cone, leaving the 4 triangles sticking out at the bottom. this bit is optional, but you can fill it with hot glue to make it more sturdy, just be careful touching the hot metal. I tend to hold the cone by one of the triangles with a bit of fabric wrapped around my fingers for this bit. cut 4 small holes in your fabric in this kind of shape:
and put the spiky bits of triangle through the holes. fold the triangles in on themselves to secure the spike in place. boom. spike obtained. this is one I made and attached to a little piece of fabric to test this method out:
3. battle vests!! (like the base jackets). the best places to buy these are charity shops and second hand websites in my opinion, but if anyone else knows any better options, please reblog with those!!
a good trick I find works well on eBay is to filter search results to your country (or state? can you do that in the US? idk) so that a: fast delivery because local, and b: all the sellers of everything that shows up are in YOUR TIME ZONE.
why is this important? when people sell something for really cheap, it goes FAST. check eBay at like, 2am or something. all the scalpers in your area are asleep. grab the cheap stuff while they can't.
4. sewing!! want patches, but can't sew for whatever reason? I've heard of a lot of people with joint conditions like arthritis complain about the inaccessibility of patch stuff, and that does sound extremely annoying, however:
safety pins!! while they are still a little fiddly, they're much less work so you don't have to fiddle about for long. if you can, you could even ask a friend to help, since it doesn't take long at all I'm sure someone will be willing to help out!! (I know I would, but that's just me, and I love this kind of thing). safety pins on clothes are also widely considered to be a symbol of solidarity, so if anything, you're adding some extra love and meaning to your patch pants/battle jacket.
if that's still too fiddly, fabric glue is always an option. unfortunately this means you won't be able to remove/reposition patches, at least without leaving a massive patch of residue, but if you're ok with that then fabric glue is probably your best bet.
for people who prefer sewing: as for where to get the thread, I've heard a lot of people recommending dental floss, as it's apparently much cheaper and works just as well. I haven't tried this myself so can't confirm that, but I thought I'd share it regardless.
5. where to get fabric!! old clothes. rip em up. you don't need any kind of fancy fabric from the craft store. my patches are made of old jeans that I grew out of.
don't have any old clothes and you don't want to waste any good ones? I'm not sure about other countries, but in the UK, as long as you're not on private property (trespassing), dumpster diving is perfectly legal.
I definitely ;) do NOT encourage ;) trespassing rich people's land ;) to steal from their dumpsters ;)
or tbh it doesn't matter too much how rich the person is, since it's all going to landfill anyway. if it's in the bin, it's free game, but you didn't hear that from me. ;)
please add onto this where you can!! and if I missed something or got anything wrong, add that on too!!
Rant: Hot Topic needs to stop
Ok, I understand that the store is called Hot Topic, meaning they will make clothes based on the latest pop culture. But to make a jacket and a backpack based on a character that is literally Anti-capitalist is fucking ironic.
Hobie aka Spiderpunk would not approve of this. He would rather for y'all to make the jacket by thrifting and DIYing. He would rather for y'all to steal this from a Hot Topic instead of buying it. Being Anti-capitalist and an Anarchist is common within the punk subculture.
So if you're a fan of Hobie, then show your love for him by making your own Battle Jacket based on his by spending as less as possible. Don't support these multi-million dollar companies. They're just using the character for profit because he's popular.
My battle vest! I think itâs turning out pretty nice! Iâve still got a lot of work but Iâm happy with the progress.
The back was a pain in the ass, because I first tried to paint the lesbian flag but it turned out badly so I basically had to cut out the entire middle section and sew some new fabric there. And donât even get me started on trying to color match the flag with the fabric scraps I have, cutting out the right size and shape and then sewing each individual piece to the back through several layers of denim. I only broke one needle though!
Most of the pins are either made from old bottle caps or bought from second hand stores and repainted. Some are bought from a local small store that sells candy and magazines and all sorts of stuff.
The spikes are originally bought from a local crafting/sewing store, and I got most of them from old projects.
Almost all of the patches are homemade, with random fabric scraps and fabric paint!

firstly, I love your blog and it's been a great resource to have as I've been learning abt punk! I hope you're well & ty for everything you do <3 do you have any advice for finding punk communities, both irl and online? I really wanna talk to ppl abt everything I'm learning and loving, but it's really hard to find communities. besides the landmine of trying to avoid nazi punks and the like, I don't rlly drink or anything so bars/clubs can be weird -teacupqueer/persie
Thank you so much!! Iâm doing pretty well!
Finding Punk Communities Online:
Iâll be honest, I can really only speak on behalf of tumblr here. I donât use other socials all that much.
But! If you want to find a fun awesome punk community on tumblr, you are already off to a great start! Find a punk blog you like or who has similar music taste, see who they reblog from and tag in their posts. Iâve met a LOT of really cool people this way on here! (Shoutout to @polyamorouspunk and @my-chemical-ratz whose blogs you should check out simply because they are cool people). And Iâve also met people who are in bands, or involved with bands (like @necromancy-savant and @dopamineband (who donât use their tumblr anymore đ)). I didnât meet these people right away, it took a while of steady interaction with tumblr to build up these connections.
There are also Discord communities too, I donât use discord much but I *think* (?) I saw a post go around a while ago where someone was starting up a punk discord server? Honestly maybe Iâll take the time to start one up, it might make me use Discord more lmao
Finding Punk Communities IRL:
Bars and clubs arenât the only places to find punks!!
Iâd recommend checking out any queer spaces in your area, I doubt it would surprise you to learn how often these two groups overlap.
Also! If you are near a city, chances are you have an underground scene somewhere. Google and Reddit are great resources to find the places punks gather in your city. For example: in my city theres a cafe and record shop that are popular among the alternative crowd that I never would have found without the use of Google.
Otherwise, what are your hobbies? If you like gardening/are into solar punk, see if theres a local gardening club! (Iâd say a 50/50 chance of punk or karens tbh with this one).
Start up a book club at a local library that focuses on books like 1984 and Brave New World.
Go to gigs that arent at bars or clubs, I went to one back in February that was at an abandoned church, that was turned into a concert venue. The place was child friendly so there was no alcohol, but there were a lot of cool people there!
And the best tip I have for you to avoid nazis is to just know their symbols and signs. Do a bit of research on it and familiarize yourself with what to avoid
As always, other suggestions for anon are welcome!!
It's Punk, babe!
Loved this movie i need to see more of him in the next one
hey queer nd teen here i've been really interested in punk culture and the message drives me to tears but i'm scared of being called a poser because i feel like a coward
i hate cops and i think they should fucking die and the government is fucked and we have to look after each other. but i feel backed into a corner because i'm surrounded by family who would laugh at me and just wouldn't understand and i don't feel like i can Handle it but i Want to
as a shy and nonconfrontational teen with a shit ton of anxiety to boot i dunno. i admire brave hardcore punks who beat up cops and nazis but i Can't Be That
no need for a response but it would be nice
When I was a teen, I was told by my best friend that I could never be a punk. That I would never be a punk. But here I am. I was a shy quiet kid, and Iâm still pretty quiet and prefer to avoid confrontations when I can. My point is, these things donât prevent people from being a punk if its in their nature
Not all punks are the big tough punks who can physically fight those fights. Though they are a very important part of our community. But we also have plenty of disabled, neurodivergent, and chronically ill people who are just as punk, and even people who are just not into violence. They are advocates, they are researchers, they are community care takers. Being a punk isnt all about fighting evil. I actually think thats not the best way to look at it at all. Being punk is about caring for your community. And while âfighting evilâ is a part of it, there are a lot more things that entails.
If you truly want to be a punk, it seems like you are already going down the right path. You alluded to a not so great home life where it might not be the best idea to dress in alternative styles. You could always start with smaller, more subtle things. Or you can just wait until you can move out to start exploring that. Remember, being punk is more than just an aesthetic, and while the aesthetic may look cool, it is by no means a requirement to be a punk (honestly half the time I run around it cowboy boots and a flannel - in the winter I usually add the hat too)
You are a teen still. Growing and learning about yourself and the world around you. And so are your peers. Any teen who calls you a poser is being a jerk and doesnât know all that much about the scene. Any grown adult that calls you a poser is probably a poser themselves who refuses to acknowledge that not every person comes from the same background. But I also feel like itâs important to tell you that what anyone else says shouldnt matter that much. Even if it feels like it does, if you let their words matter to you, you are giving them all the control.
Its okay to be young and not know a lot. Its okay to not dress alternative for any number of reasons. Its okay to not feel like you could go off and fight bad people. None of those things make you a poser.
My Punk Tips for a DIY Lifestyle:
Thrift some black fabric (or grab an old black shirt you don't care for anymore), get a white fabric marker, posca, sharpie, or paint and make a bunch of patches to sew onto your clothes.
If you're a digital artist this is your time to shine! Make stencils, posters, design clothes (there are free templates online), and if you don't own a printer libraries will let you print for cheap and sometimes free. My library card allows me to print 10 pages for free.
Reuse everything or if you don't want it anymore donate it or recycle it.
Trash is very punk. Soda can tabs for instance can make for cool jewlery. It's all about creativity.
Drug store makeup is your best friend and honestly they're sometimes better than the luxury name brand products. Or hell even make some of your own.
If you need to order something I suggest etsy. Yes, some of it's expensive but you're supporting small artists and buissnesses rather than a corportation. It's also easier to find poc, queer, and neurodivergent buissnesses and artists.
Overall punk is about being creative. Just get creative and have fun!

pride month reminder that trans men r not ur human meat shields. trans men deserve advocacy and safety.
Trans men are also not the people to trauma dump about how evil cis men can be. Trans men are not the people to project your hatred of men and masculinity onto. Reminder that being men is what makes us trans, and hating us for being men is transphobic.
Trans men are not "men lite". They are not "different". They are men. If you are a misandrist, and you treat trans men better than you do other men, that makes you transphobic.
Either way you're still a prick
i am begging yâall to have a single ounce of nuance when u talk abt trans men bc what is this. is this supposed to be advocacy.

Tied-Up
The rope of the lasso grazed over Deanâs palm, a familiar sensation now sending a shiver down Deanâs spine; his breath catching in his throat.
Casâ lips brushed against Deanâs neck, a hand ghosting over the handprint on Deanâs shoulder as the angel guided him down against the mattress. A low chuckle rumbled from above him, and Deanâs eyes fluttered closed in anticipation as Cas tugged on the lasso, tying Deanâs hands above his head.
âI told you Iâd tie you up with that rope of yours if you tried to lasso me again,â Cas teased, kissing a trail of open-mouthed kisses down Deanâs arms and hovering just out of reach.
Goosebumps raced across Deanâs skin and he arched up into Casâ touch, remembering Casâ delicious threat when Dean had teasingly chased his husband around the ranch, attempting to lasso Cas and pull him into a kiss.
Pulling on his restraints, Dean groaned. âWell, youâve got me tied-up. Now what?â
âThis,â Cas growled, leaning down and capturing Deanâs lips in a breathtakingly filthy kiss as his hands roamed over Deanâs body.
