Someone will tell you that sheâs seeing someone someday and that sheâs happy and your hands will stop working. Youâll have to work hard to hold onto whatever youâre holding. I hope itâs not glass, I hope itâs not breakable. Suddenly youâll remember everything that you ever loved about her. Everything that ever moved you to tears, made your insides feel like they were tying themselves into knots. That she was loyal, that she was open for you, that she smiled against your mouth when you kissed. That it felt easy, like God had put the two of you together deliberately, like it had been the plan all along. But for whatever reason, you let her go and you thought that it was the right thing and for a little while, it felt like you knew exactly what you were doing. Except now all the parts of you that touched her knows that youâre never going to be able to touch her again and that hurts. Even your fingers are sad, even your stomach is aching from the loss of it all. Youâre never going to get that again and thatâs why your regret looks like artwork that would have been masterpiece if youâd finished it. Your regret looks like plucking a flower before itâs bloomed. So maybe youâll call her and youâll tell her that you miss her and sheâll sound gentle on the phone but not in love with you anymore. Sheâll say âwe happened and we were important but you let me go, Iâm sorry, but you let me goâ and thatâs how youâll know.

I wish you would stop apologizing for having a heart that feels everything so deeply. Itâs a gift, wear it proudly.

To be able to say: I loved this person, we had a hell of a nice time together, itâs over but in a way it will never be over and I do know that I for sure loved this person, to be able to say that and mean it, thatâs rareâŚThatâs rare and valuable.

i think itâs important to realize that no matter how good you are to people, it wonât make them good to you.
if they wanted to, they wouldâve.

As time goes on, youâll understand. What lasts, lasts; what doesnât, doesnât. Time solves most things. And what time canât solve, you have to solve yourself.
