once upon a time, in the uk during 2006/2007, a punjabi singer/songwriter called of jay sean wrote a little tune by the name of "deal with it". this song was originally slated to appear on his second album my own way (which said album was also supposed to be named after this song btw!) and he recorded it mastered it everything, but for reasons unknown to us- and believe me i tried to find out why he sold it but could not- he decided nope i don't want her anymore and he and his label gave the song to corbin bleu, aka the non-white high school musical guy.
corbin bleu records the song and puts it out on his debut album which drops in may of 2007. a little bit later (couple of months after release) sm entertainment hears deal with it somehow (i have also tried to find out how they found this song and could not. sorry) and is like ooh this song would be great for our new rookie group shinee. we need a title track for them that will grab attention since they haven't put out anything in korea for half a year.
they approach hollywood records (corbin's label at the time) and are like hey. can we buy this song? hollywood records says sure thing but jay sean doesn't allow them to purchase the lyrics for reasons unknown to us shinee historians lol. sm buys the song, mixes it around a bit with help from danish music producer cutfather, jjong and minho write new lyrics for it, and juliette is born!
