Both men were on edge, that was clear by the body language alone. Neither were sure if the other could be trusted and that was within good reason. Brock didn’t know if Steve would believe him or even trust him enough to get started somewhere. Not only that, what if he turned him in just for being here? These were all risks he was willing to take to prove he wasn’t the man everyone believed he was during Project Insight. “Aside from the fact you’re also on the run, they at least listen to you whenever they decide this bullshit is over with.” He said motioning to their surroundings, representing the world around them in a way. “They’re not gonna believe a word I say.”
Sure. Whenever the ‘bullshit’ was over with, which Steve didn’t think would be very soon. If he were being entirely honest, he didn’t think it would ever end. Steve was a wanted man, and with the recognition that came with his name was a price, a price that could never be payed unless it was with his life. Steve arched a brow--that much was true. Though Steve was less than he was now, he was certainly worth more than a pawn that they’d thrown away as though it meant nothing. “Okay. And what do you want me to do, if I have the ability you are so sure that I have?”

“We don’t have time to just wait around,” she retorted, very much aware of the other Captain’s irritation and unable to find it within her to care. “The situation is too delicate for that. Too many people could get hurt. We’d have the element of surprise, I say we go for it.”
Steve wasn’t too proud to admit when he was wrong, and given that Carol had also had military and fight experience as he had, he was inclined to defer to her plans as he would with his own. “Okay, Miss Danvers. You’re right. You can run point on this.” I trust you.

Five years ago, we lost. All of us. We lost friends. We lost family. We lost a part of ourselves. Today, we have a chance to take it all back. You know your teams, you know your missions. Get the stones, get them back. One round trip each. No mistakes. No do-overs. Most of us are going somewhere we know, that doesn’t mean we should know what to expect. Be careful. Look out for each other. This is the fight of our lives. And we’re going to win. Whatever it takes. Good luck. Avengers: Endgame (2019) dir. The Russo Brothers

Natalia never had another choice. “I figured any man I’d marry would be better to me than my own father…imagine my relief and joy to find my future husband has a caring heart. I would have rather faced my own death than live another day under my father’s hand…”
It was a quite heavy confession for the princess to make, and it wasn’t one she would’ve said out loud if she hadn’t wished for it to actually happen. After one meeting she felt more safe with Steve than she’d ever felt before.
“My father never had a son. So he raised me to be the second best…any man I marry takes his throne. I had to be perfect.”
Steven couldn’t help the way his cheeks heated beneath the princess’ words, heart suddenly feeling heavier in his chest than it had been only moments ago. “I do not know your father, but I could ascertain as much with the little time I spent with him. I am pleased that you find value in this marriage, however, as I’ve never seen much value in myself.”
He fought the urge to reach for her hand, to hold Natalia in as much comfort as he could offer. It was all he could hope for in a time when he was forced to be wed due to politics so soon after his mother’s passing. “You would be perfect regardless of his hand in it, just for being who you are. No person is less than another just because of their gender, or any other artbitrary reason.”
A soulmate is someone you carry with you forever. It’s one person who knew you, accepted you, and believed in you before anyone else did or when no one else would. And no matter what happens, you’ll always love them and nothing could ever change that.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) dir. Joss Whedon

“Thankfully, the demographic that will want to make you do things that make you super uncomfortable is rapidly decreasing in size,” Alexis begins, flipping her presentation pad open to BOOMER SHRINKAGE. She does a double-take at her own writing. “Okay, I could have possibly chosen better wording for that.”
She flips to the next page: YOUNG ANARCHISTS. “Now, no one is saying that you should be throwing bricks through windows or anything.” She winks, because hey, sometimes people want to throw bricks and she is fine with that as long as he doesn’t get caught. “But, the pool of young people dissatisfied with the current US government is extremely vocal, and pissed. What you and I need to do together is briiiiidge that gap.”

“I have been watching a lot, I mean, a lot of FDR speeches—oh, he was the president in the thirties, you probably knew him, exciting!—and I think he is your perfect role model. You want to be refined and, like, distinguished and composed, because old people love that, but your stances have to be firm and extreme for the kids. You’re, like, super good at the firm and extreme part, love that you know yourself, but we need to curate an image of, like, dignified, quiet strength, too. I’m not saying you have to become an entirely different person! The main strategy is to set up some verified social media accounts for you that can channel your passion into a cleaner, FDR meets Leslie Knope kind of public image. And from there you just avoid public speaking as often as possible. You won’t even have to worry about running the accounts, I have people for that, I’ll just have to take pictures of you every so often for Instagram.”
Thankfully, Steve knew exactly what generation that Alexis was talking about. Boomers. That’s what he’d heard Sam call them, at least. The generation that came from his, the one after the Silent Generation. Apparently, they caused a lot of issues in the political sphere, and Steve really didn’t know where people his age went wrong, there. It’d always been a family atmosphere in the Borough, but that was the past. Times had changed and apparently morals had, too. Screw Boomers. Steve didn’t respect bullies, no matter how old they were.
Steve may be all for freedom of choice, but he wasn’t the type to throw bricks through windows unless there was good reason. Like the Black Lives Matter movement, of course. But there were other ways to rebel and sometimes they had more decisive action taken in reply because of it. “Never met the guy, but yeah, he was a good President. For the most part. But don’t you think it’d be a little weird that someone run social media accounts for me? It feels a bit disengenuine.” Steve scratched at the beheaded mass of hair atop his scalp, squinting his eyes.

Seriously, why did they take this scene from the final cut? It is so very important! And not only to explain why Steve lacked the cowl in the end of the movie, but because this tiny moment is extremely important to Steve’s development as a character. He came to be seen as a fascist, as exactly that which he fought to destroy. Captain America, who sought to fight bullies his whole life, is now seen as one. Imagine the impact that had on his head. The meaning of his actions after he saw this. Steve began to give up the Captain America identity right here. This is why in Civil War he has no problems giving up the shield. He and Captain America have long been drifting apart. In fact, they were never one to begin with:
Steve went through his whole life trying to show people he wasn’t what they thought of him. Becoming Captain America was one way to do it, and giving this identity up is another one.
Steve isn’t unaware of the symbolism Captain America entails. For good and for bad. In The First Avenger he uses the symbol in his favour, transforming it. In The Winter Soldier he owns the symbol he became, working in favour of the greater good through his public image. However, in Civil War he has to give the symbol up, for it has come to represent something he is not.
When Tony tells him he doesn’t deserve the shield, Steve is tired of having to “prove” that his actions are those of Captain America. People put Captain America in a box that doesn’t fit Steve Rogers. Tony tells him he is not worthy of being Captain America, of carrying the shield his father made, as if he had betrayed what Howard Stark worked for, as if somehow Howard was responsible for the making of Captain America, and Steve became unworthy to be part of Howard’s legacy. This is just one way people created a general idea about who Captain America is, forgetting the man behind the shield.
Steve will be that which he has to be. That which he feels in his heart and head to be his duty, the right thing. He became Captain America for that reason, and for that same reason he threw cowl and shield aside.
I think purple might be your color. Really matches your eyes.

“Never underestimate New Yorkers’ capacity for finding new and exciting ways to be weird and stupid. That’s fatally faulty thinking on your part. I’m appalled.” He resisted the urge to keep going with the sigil he was trying to cast, which was going to lock down a particularly nasty dimensional anomaly that was due to erupt in just a few hours. He’d thought he was being clever and proactive, going out early and taking care of his business. But getting cornered in the boondocks by an anxious gunman was less than ideal. “I’m trying to keep something from blowing up, and I’m using magic to do it. Probably none of which is going to make you take your finger off the trigger, but it’s true nonetheless.”
Alright, this guy was snarky, Frank could at least respect that. Even if he was point five seconds away from blasting his chest open like a bag of macabe popcorn. It, however, didn’t make the cape and the floating shit any less weird. In fact, it was wigging Frank out, in the only kind of way he could be. “Magic? You expect me to believe that you’re pulling some Harry Potter bullshit right now? Yeah. Sure.” Frank had seen a lot of shit, probably too much if we’re being honest but this? This was a new sort of ballpark and he wondered if he had somehow been given a hallucinogenic.
