Despite himself and the resolve that he was trying to muster up in the face of the god like gem, he was taking a few steps back when her PIERCING gaze fixated on him like he was a small piece of PREY in her throne room. His jaw tightened until his neckĀ ached all the way down ; swallowing compulsively ā and stomping down the impulse to curl into himself. Even if fingers curled into his palms into trembling fists and he felt the edges of his eyes burning.
He wasnāt dense enough to not catch the sarcasm laced deeply into her words so thickly that he could nearly taste it; shivering as a cold feeling raked down his spine and gripped him tightly against his lower back. He could feel the sharp, ill twist of terror in his gut; and it made him want to crawl to safety.
There was no safety āĀ
āAnd what makes you think sheās going to fall for that bait?ā he asked, his voice cracking despite himself, pointing a shaking hand in her direction, the digit noticeably quivering as he did so ā quickly lowering it back to his side.Ā āDo you think I mean that much to her? To anyone? I got myself out of Homeworld the first time ā it was me, not her. Not anyone else; no one CAME BACK FOR ME ā what makes you think that they will this time? Maybe you should research the nobodies that you decide to try and dangle for prey.ā Maybe he wasnāt being entirely truthful ; but, in the depths of his mind it was easy enough for him to believe for it to sound convincingā perhaps Rose had planned on coming back for him; but she hadnāt. HE got off that planet, with the Off Colors. He did it.

It was rather lucky on Larsā part that White Diamond seemed to find great amusement in his words, rather than regarding them as insults. His protests meant nothing to her, in the grand scheme of things, but it was always a pleasure watching organics squirm in her mere presence. That never got boring, no matter how many millenia passed between such moments.
⦠In the case that she does not come for you, I suppose thereās no point in keeping her playpen around. With Earth gone, it will make her decision that much easier~
Her eerily neutral smile suddenly took on a rather cruel twist, as the next few words slipped cheerily from her lips.
⦠Which do you prefer human, that I follow your advice and speed things along, or shall we wait for Pink to come and save you~?
As emotionless as she may be, occasionally little games for her to play would come to the diamondās mind. Giving the human the illusion of suddenly being responsible for the fate of his planet, how quickly would he grow meek? She may not be capable of peering into his mind as she would with a gem, but his body language more than made up for that.
Were all humans this animated? White was beginning to see a hint of the reason why Pink had taken such a liking to this species. They shared many similarities with the youngest diamond...
