Only after completing my work I realized that I did not leave any notes to explain which sample is where. For example, I should have said that the first ring from the top is the ring that I changed to 3 sizes up.

Only after completing my work I realized that I did not leave any notes to explain which sample is where. For example, I should have said that the first ring from the top is the ring that I changed to 3 sizes up.
I found a video link on YouTube about how to draw a moon. I simply followed it on A2 size paper and attached my drawing on a cardboard to make it more stable. YouTube also helped me to make small boxes for my rings. 8 mm box was my first try and it appeared to be too small. I have made nine boxes from 10 mm square paper which fits perfectly on my drawing. I attached boxes with double-sided tape.
One part of samples I covered with soft flux (which is transparent). Then I placed all my samples in acid to clean it. I covered the back part with black powder. My first black sample was not successful because I did not clean it enough. The powder did not melt completely and did not cover all the areas of metal. I asked the teacher how can I create perfectly shiny black surface. She instructed me to cover lightly the metal with black powder, put it in a kiln and repeat the process. On the last photo, you can clearly see the difference between my first and my second black samples.
For transferring an image on the metal you need to use special paper which divides into two parts after soaking in water. The first part is just paper and the second is a transparent material with a picture. I applied the second piece on the metal and placed it on the back of a kiln. It will evaporate all the water. After at least an hour of being in the worm place, I put it in a kiln for about 90 seconds.
Enamelling.
Clean a piece of a metal with sponge and water. Carefully apply soft flux through a sieve as shown in the photo above. Place in a kiln for 30-90 seconds (the dime depends on a temperature in a kiln and how often you open it). If you overheat the enamel sample it might break. If you heat it for less than the required time the powder won’t melt, it will create a texture like sugar on metal.
Just polished rings and a pendant.
Experimenting with handles for Tussey Mussey.
My first brooch was not very successful because I drilled holes that were too big for the setting. This time with a new setting I experimented with the shape of a brooch. I cut two bits of metal and soldered it together. The holes were made in the right size for the setting but when I tried the setting on, one hole seemed to be too far away from the other so the setting did not feet. My first thought was to make a new stone setting but then I realized that I can heat up the setting and carefully move the tube to the right side. This idea was successful.
Just before the next step, I noticed that the brooch has a small hole which came from nowhere. It would be very difficult to foil it because of the brooch shape. I used centre punch tool to cover the hole. In my opinion, the dots on the eye make it look stylish.
Finally, I can rivet the stone setting into my brooch.
In order to make Tussey Mussey look more interesting, I added 2 handles. I asked my classmates and people around me if the handles look good on the brooch. Most of my audience said that it doesn’t suit the style. Then I removed one handle and twisted and soldered another.
Sometimes you need to see your work from the other side to improve it.
The holes in my brooch that I have made for a setting are bigger than they should be. The tubes are falling out of the brooch even after riveting for the second time. I decided to make a new stone setting.
I foiled 2 small holes on my pliers opposite to each other to create different to others long shaped jumper rings in my chain.
Morre photos of a stone setting. This time the setting and drawing is different. Also, it is better to use beating cutter tool for the particular setting which is shown in the first photos.
Today a specialist lecturer https://www.instagram.com/laylakristinajewellery/?hl=en showed us how to draw gemstones.
I did not have a thin pencil and a brush with me, therefore, my drawing looks different from what it should look like. Next time with the right equipment I will practice more.
To solder first jumper ring to the Tussey Mussey I heat up whole Tussey Mussey with a small bit of solder first and then pushed the jumper ring and it attached immediately.
Making a back part of a brooch was easier now because I knew exactly how deep I need to cut the metal so it will bend but not break.
Experimenting with wax.
My stone setting is a bit bigger than the stone. I find it hard to press the setting towards the stone and it keeps falling off.
