@astrofriend
hello kbdn nation
Help, I've started playing Pokémon Shield again...
Heated Rivalry this, Heated Rivalry that, okay but what about THEIR HEATED RIVALRY??
Looking into some things right now..
Sapphic4Sapphic Raihan x Leon icons !
requested by @shinyeternatus! like or reblog if using/saving- thnx!
I want Raihan and Leon to get the Red and Blue treatment and to be spotted on a vacation in Winds and Waves
You find them lost somewhere in the new Region and Raihan is sighing about how he TOLD Leon to get the map at the visitor center while Leon laughs light heartedly like “well we would’ve never seen this beautiful clearing if I did!”
considering galar’s pokemon league is essentially their only sport do yall think they have pokemon heated rivalry. is it leon and raihan? probably
so fucked that a grown ass man had to look up at his boyfriend
no one should be that tall
I drew this on my phone, probably waiting at a doctors appointment lol
When he lost that one time.
I love thinking about Sonia x Nessa and Raihan x Leon but specifically in a queer subversion of fairy tale tropes type of way, you know?
Obviously Leon got assigned as a "King" pretty quickly, and Rose even refers to him as a "Knight in shining armor."
Then Sonia is aligned as a "Queen" in Masters and even shares a name with Queen Sonja of Norway and a love of museums.
The expectations upon seeing these two are quick and clear. A Queen and a Knight fall in love and getting together to become Queen and King in classic storybook fashion.
Meanwhile Raihan is very clearly assigned the dragon role, his fangs and sharp eyes are quick to establish that, as is his Vault he is protective of.
And Nessa is known for her beauty and grace, along her love and connection to the ocean while still holding a fierce temper. A Siren/Mermaid comes to mind at her aesthetic.
They are the fantasy creatures/obstacles that need to be overcome by the "heroes" in a typical fairy tale.
The Knight is meant to slay the Dragon, the Queen is meant to stay in her kingdom walls and marry.
But Sonia and Leon didn't fall in love, they didn't follow the exception of the fairy tale set before them. Instead they grew apart awkwardly and regretfully.
In someway maybe even guilty they couldn't play into their roles much to the disappointment of the people around them.
And in their drifting apart they come across those very people in which storybooks warned about; a dangerous tricky dragon fiercely protecting its horde, a vicious bloodthirsty siren luring you into its waters.
But they aren't like the storybooks either.
The Dragon delights in fair company, and a playful challenge. Willing to offer any who ask, a tour inside of his treasure hold.
The Siren finds beauty and love the sea and all that lives in there, wishing to protect her reefs from further damage.
They are themselves, despite what legends may try to paint them as. Their subversion inspires Sonia and Leon to their own deviation from their storybook
favorite genre of pokémon design is "a girl and her fuck off weapon"
like yes queen slay. slay your enemies that is.
Endless cycle
People underestimate the power of Blorbo From My Shows
When it comes to the blorbo of the week, I have no power. They do. It’s very easy to manipulate me.
The Owl House S2 Ep. 5: Through the Looking-glass Ruins
This episode is primarily a Gus episode and how he feels inadequate. Along with being about him burying the hatchet with Mattholomule and becoming friends with him. It’s a shame that all that gets overshadowed by Luz and Amity’s romance.
Now I like what’s going on in Luz and Amity’s plot very much but I’d like to focus on Gus’s because I feel like it’s integral to his character development. Despite growing up since last season (a lot since his actor physically grew up between recordings) he still feels like he’s not living up to his potential and just the “baby” of the group. His quest to find and defend the Galderstones from the Glandus kids was a chance to prove himself and get that confidence boost he really needed. It’s also a great reintroduction of Mattholomule and gives an insight of his outlook on life as we also meet the kids from his old school. And quickly learn that his antagonism comes from trying to avoid being bullied by those kids and their dog-eat-dog mentality. The duo’s relationship is still uncertain in their own words but it’s more than clear to me that they’re friends by the end.
But that’s not what this episode is remembered for and I totally get why. Because in the b-plot we get 1. Luz finding the recordings of Philip Wittebane’s journal, 2. Amity dyeing her hair purple which she keeps for the rest of the show, and 3. Amity kissing Luz’s cheek! The last part alone overtakes anything else that may have happened.
I still think it’s a good episode with Gus and I most certainly don’t hate what happened between the girls. I just kind of wish one plot didn’t get overtaken by the other.
