do you also find the concept of the player character in swsh having not met Leon till the start of the game sort of baffling? like he’s never once met Victor/Gloria when he’s come home? are we supposed to believe that hes literally never once visited until the start of the game or are we meant to believe the player character moved in recently or something? it’s literally never made sense to me, you would meet your best friend’s only sibling at SOME point

I've thought about that a lot too but then I remember this is swsh. we can make a whole list of things that are baffling and dont make sense 😭💔

BUT I make sense of it in that victor/gloria probably moved in a few years before the start of the story and Leon only visits briefly a few times a year. Or at this point maybe even once a year. And Hop probably is glued to him the entire time

I think most of my leon fanart is of him happy soft and healthy because 110% of the fanfic I read is like how can we invent new ways of giving this guy the worst and most traumatic day of his life. And I eat that shit up. But after spending hours of reading him get emotionally or physically tortured I feel a deep need to draw him happy. And safe. Call that canon divergence unforch. I think he's cursed

i was thinking about sonia pokemon again. it is fun(agonizing) to think deeply about swsh characters 🥀

i think about how after leon kinda drifted away and she got closer to nessa, it still probably hurt to be in the proximity of someone so confident and successful

watching nessa navigate her own fame, all nuance included, sonia still had to deal with the pain of everyone around her knowing who they are and pursuing their passions. the universe made it a bit cruel. of course she supports her best friend, and nessa never obviously made her feel any less than (and was her biggest supporter when she dropped out of the gym challenge), but it was hard not to feel left behind or lost. not even getting into the pressure of living up to her family name. or the rift between her and leon

(side note: i hc nessa's modeling gigs came after her gym challenge, like she got scouted. and thought pursing it would keep her in the spotlight as she worked her way up to the hulbury gym leadership. also she and sonia are both into big designers n all that. pros and cons. i can probably write a whole paragraph on nessa's ethos as a model and how it's synonymous with her battle style)

but nessa working within the same league as leon is ultimately different for sonia; i don't think nessa expected anything from sonia other than to be herself. that's why it was easy to support sonia's decision to quit the challenge

whereas leon (who's always pushing himself to be someone more. his own way of compensation), projected that same wish for "greatness" onto sonia, the person he used to watch the clouds and dream big with! so watching her doubt herself devastated him into thinking that she thought she wasn't enough or something. he couldn’t take that either because, of course, he sees her as someone worthy

it's the same way he thinks he and raihan are "equals" on the battle pitch. despite their match history being 10-0 😭

i just think it's interesting that sonia and leon learned to be who they really are and get what they want on their own terms. just in vastly different ways

hello!!! currently do not have a waitlist 🤧💔 but thankyou for the interest 😭! my job and health has been kinda nuts the past few months which made me really slow on finishing commissions last time they were open. so ive been scared to try again 🥀 but maybe when things chill out i'll open them again. maybe around fall time-ish

i think raihan is a huge nerd about fountain pens and drags leon into his world of fancy pen collecting. raihan has an eye for nice things. and he's great at discernment but not fully a minimalist. his home is full of well made artisanal things. he's picky about his tech too like that. he would certainly describe a pen or a lamp as sexy. big light never on at his place. but it all gets leon to slow down and appreciate details of things too
