Hey guys, Kari here!
This is going to be my last blog post. I just wanted to give some closure seeing how I don’t play Mabi anymore and a lot of my friends’ blogs have shut down.
Unless Tumblr closes this blog, I’m keeping it open for old time’s sake.
I’ve played this game since it came out in 2008....quit.....came back rinse/ repeat. I remember really getting back into Mabi when puppetry came out and made friends all over again.
Mabi was my great escape and it’s probably the only game where you can master everything at one point with hard work and dedication. I remember striving to hit lvl 500 then 1,000.....soon I was hitting 3,000......5,000 eventually reaching 10,000 and feeling quite accomplished; I had finally succeeded the wishes of my good friend Daioujou who hadn’t played in maybe half a year.
It was also at this point where perceptions of the game changed. People were more focused on fashion. I get it, people want to look good, unique, make their characters theirs, I had my own colour scheme (white/cyan) as well.
I suppose the issue was everyone wants that same new good looking outfit and if you happen to have the same colour scheme suddenly you’re “copying” them. This is probably the only game where you’ll ever run into an issue with someone “copying” you.
I got really sick of some players and the community for this. It was at the same time that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate came out which was a game changer for me. Here you have players actually willing to share with you their armour sets, how to achieve the best of the best and which colours may look good with mixed sets as well. In comparison, looking back at Mabi, with the same limited gear, colours, etc. people seemed more selfish and petty to me.
Eventually I moved away from Mabi since I couldn’t take the “oh he’s copying me” vibe I got from particular players. My character has always been as is. I’ve never copied anyone and dressed Kari up based on my own tastes. Skill wise, it’s a joke to say I’m copying you if eventually you can master everything. Everyone is going to be the same endgame.
These days I’ve moved onto Overwatch with my buddy Dai. I think I honestly prefer a game with skill involved rather than fashion. It’s not to say I hate Mabi, I love this game for what it is and the memories I’ve had with my friends over the years but I just couldn’t stand the community anymore, it just wasn’t for me. There’s a lot of toxicity which was unnecessary and I’m glad I’ve moved on from that.
Anyways, I guess that’s my goodbye whether you agree with me or not it doesn’t really matter. Mabi’s fantasy life, you’re free to do whatever you want.
