tl;dr: all "algorithmically" pushed stuff on a newsfeed is mostly ads. nothing that's really surprising form this vulture article, but it is dismal and makes me grateful for one website where you only see things from people you follow WITHOUT horrible short-form video content
you have to be careful reading too many things that are good/smart/well-written bc then you encounter something that isnt and you get confused like ? why didnt they just make this good ? were they stupid
literally though if you feel like your life is slipping through your fingers and every day goes too fast… try doing hard things, not just taking the easy route, like reading and making art and exercising and cooking a meal from scratch and journaling, doing these things without distraction, without being absorbed on a screen… the time will stretch and you’ll be reminded that life is long and beautiful if you make it so.
I'm sorry to let you know that 100,000,001 (one hundred million and one) is divisible by 17 and because of that, so is every 16-digit number that is four digits repeated four times e.g. 1234123412341234
⚠️ PLEASE DON’T SCROLL — OUR LIVES DEPEND ON THIS ⚠️
This video shows the reality we are living in right now.
We are starving. Many of us have gone days without proper food, and the situation is getting worse every day. At the same time, illness is spreading quickly among us malaria, typhoid, and cholera are affecting so many in our community. Some are very sick and growing weaker, yet we have little to no access to medication.
Our shelters are falling apart and cannot properly protect us. When it rains, we are exposed. When the sun is too strong, we have no safe place to rest. On top of this, we are now two months behind on rent, and we are at risk of losing even the little shelter we have left.
💔 For 3 months now, our campaign has received no donations. We have only raised 5,154 CAD out of our goal of 20,000 CAD and the needs are becoming more urgent every single day.
We are humbly begging for your help. Any support no matter how small can help provide food, medication, and safe shelter. Your kindness could truly save lives.

Have you thought about the suffering QUEER REFUGEES in East Africa?
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.
watched three girls who reblogged its new blog mutual aidpost (made literally 15 minutes ago) already disappear from its notifs. transfems are not included in their pride :/
GLaDOS voice: "Would you like to see some artwork I generated? I've heard from other test subjects that AI-generated artwork produces an uncanny valley response in human viewers because they can't perceive it as fully real. They've told me that it looks absolutely hideous to them, that they can't imagine anything more disgusting than AI art. But, well I've been practicing and wanted your honest opinion. Feel free to let me know how ugly you find this by ranking it on a scale from 'vomit-inducing' to 'eye-bleeding'."

given the current climate this pride especially i feel i must mention that i love my trans friends, i stand with trans people in the fight against transphobic legislation and those who would enforce it, and this blog is not a good place for you to be if you do not vibe with that
No but really though I found out pjackk was gone this morning from this email
I don't remember that post at all so I tried looking it up and I can't find the post since it's deleted obviously so all I can find is this (all links are dead)
1. I never reported pjackk
2. I don't think pjackk ever said "Bulgaria is Following in Greece's Footsteps. Here's How We Stop It."
So I don't know, I report spambots and any particularly blatant fascists that show up in my notes, but I'm pretty damn sure I'd notice if pjackk was one of them. My only hypothesis is that maybe at some point I reported spam that was attached to a pjackk post I rbed and somehow pjackk got hit instead of/along with the bot? I have no fuckin idea
UPDATE: About 5 hours ago I sent a report about it to tumblr support, not really thinking it would help much, but now pjackk is pbackk. So if this happens to you, send a report about it.
At the risk of sounding anti-intellectual, I think that college should be free and also not a requirement for employment outside of highly specialized career fields

if i may rant for a bit, I rewatched this video about jurassic world and what it can tell us about the state of the modern film industry and its approach to making movies
REALLY recommended, and I specifically wanna point out the part where it talks about the way the us military influences movies, and how that's represented in the film by having a soldier that wants to use the velociraptores as assets for the military. and that got me thinking about the way that's framed in the film itself, how the movie makes it very specific how unethical this is...for the velociraptors.
the focus is in how evil the military is for wanting to use the dinosaurs as if they're only weapons and not beings, not in the idea of using dinosaurs to murder people. sure you could argue it's implied but I would say it's just one more example in a repeated pattern of the sympathy always being given to the people that work in the military for having to do the things they freely signed up to do, and not its victims.
even the youtuber himself (no hate he seems really chill) makes sure to add how he's not criticizing people in the military!
in media, the victims, the "enemy" as the guy in the movie calls it, is always implied, like it's just something normal and inevitable. the victims are always just out of frame, and never focused on
