Really enjoying The Adventures of Amina al-Safiri. I've always found the medieval Islamic world really fascinating, and as soon as I heard it mentioned on Patrick Wyman's Past Lives podcast, I knew I had to buy it. The author actually studied the history of the region she's writing about in college, and also worked with experts while writing it, which is really cool. I'm only in chapter 4, so I really shouldn't be here in these dangerous waters of spoilers, but I just needed to gush about it.

I think it's great the Empire is like mostly comprised of run of the mill space fascists out there doing run of the mill evil shit, but also there's this shadowy division of evil space wizards running around calling themselves shit like the Inquisitorius or the Dark Lord, and sometimes they have to work together, and they all hate it.

Got a bit closer in my latest attempt at making cloud slime. I think one or two more tries and then I'm cutting my losses. I did manage to make a sort of jelly slime that I'm really pleased with, so the instant snow purchase was not a total waste.

Heard the name Ned mentioned the other day, and I immediately think "Ned beat a giant. Ned beat a giant? Where have I heard that? What's that from? Omg it's a mnemonic for the vowels in Latin subjunctives that I learned like 18 years ago." I'm not even completely sure I can conjugate a 1st conjugation singular indicative any more, but Ned beat a giant is still banging around in there. Good mnemonic, I guess.
