the background was painted with my 嬤嬤's water colors, which i edited into oblivion before illustrating over lol
spent most of 2024 biking, climbing, and hanging outside, which was partially spurred while revisiting what "making art" looked like for me (esp thinking abt the lifespan/discard cycle online and "marketability"). i still don't have an answer, but i think trying different mediums and exploring new subjects have been bringing me somewhere unfamiliar, and if anything i'm curious to see where it goes

12-page, four-color risograph book in fluo pink, cornflower, yellow, and black
the entire book is hand-bound and each page has a photo on one side and a postcard design on the other; all 12 pages are perforated so the reader can tear out the pages to use as postcards
i took these photos over the last few years during travels with friends. my phone's old and doesn't really take decent photos by default, so to compensate i like to lean into the crumminess by zooming into everything to the point where it's difficult to discern the subject matter. although these started off silly, when i was looking through all the pictures, they reminded me of all the times being with the people i care about (-:
each page has a photo on one side and a postcard template with where the photo was taken and whom i was with on the other. FAR & NEAR was designed to be a photo book and/or a series of postcards—each page was hand-scored so the reader can tear out the pages and use them as postcards to send to their loved ones
i hadn't really printed photos in riso before, so i was excited to make something that was a bit outside of my comfort zone—hoping to make a second book in the future since there's a lot i'd want to do differently, but i'm very pleased with how these came out!
these are a few postcard designs made for ny-10 neighbors earlier this year. the designs are 100% free to use and hi-res jpgs (and separated color layers for riso) can be downloaded from dropbox
i also recently riso-printed a few cards and added them to my shop where 100% of proceeds will be donated to gaza mutual aid funds (or consider donating directly at gazafunds.com and tinyurl.com/funds4gaza)
these are obviously just a few drawings, but with the relentless violence that’s perpetually downplayed and backed by the US, it feels difficult and irresponsible to make things without thinking of the context we’re living in. free palestine

i use photoshop and the gouache a go go brush from kyle webster's megapack for basically everything; if i want smoother lines i'll use brush beauty from his inkbox pack, or just the default hard round pressure brush lol

this month i had the chance to share a large scale riso animation project at @workinprogressnyc’s spring showcase 🌻 A/F/T was inspired by the idea that “connection” isn’t about losing yourself to the whole, but understanding that you’ve always been part of it

one of my fave dynamics is when one guy is a weirdo who loves to yap and the other guy (also a weirdo) puts up with it to maintain his normie reputation
