Web Crossroad

In the internet nowadays, people tend to be reluctant due to the danger of the web. The social media paved the way for this danger. People now post whatever they want, whenever they want, without thinking of the effect of what they can do online. People get harassed, bullied and even killed--yes killed. People get killed because of online feuds. As what Ben Parker said on the movie spider-man, "With great power comes great responsibility." 

Let me remind you of that responsibility. The internet is a consumer base system meaning, without consumers there will be no product. For example, if people will not re-post and share a certain topic it will not spread. Yes, that's how it works. So if you find something in the web that is not pleasing, don't share it, don't rant about it, don't mind it so that the topic gets buried. A certain topic can get viral in minutes or get buried in seconds. So before you share, before you like, before you rant or post something: Think about it. 

This is just one of the many steps of being careful on the web. As an IT student and a lover of the web, it breaks my heart to see the beauty of technology being put to abusive use. But my hope is to see students like you and me who will change the culture and stand up for the next generation.

Journey

Being a Christian is not a one time deal, it is a continous walk. Daily you have to die to your self and pick up your cross. We cannot ask someone to carry it for us. We have to carry it our selves.

We are sinners, we are not really qualified to share God's word. But because of God's love for us, He gave His only son to pay the penalty of our sins. That's the reason why we can stand up in our campus and proclaim the good news. So if the enemy is trying to condemn you, remind your self: "I am not worthy but I am made worthy by Christ Jesus who died for me".

Last Ignite 2013 was my first Ignite and I attended alone. During the event I prayed and believed that next Ignite I will be attending with my immediate family. 2 years after God answered that prayer and more! This Ignite 2015 I'm with my younger sister and two of my cousins. God didn't just answer my prayer, He went beyond. Now, my vision is for me to share my whole family, both extended and immediate, the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Truly God is faithful!!!

Could you in any way help me? I'm addicted to masturbation. I know it's a sin, and I don't want to do it. I have decided to quit SO MANY times, but every time I think that I have finally succeeded, I fail again and give up to the temptation. And I don't want to be like this, I'm a daughter (yes, I'm a girl, we have these problems too) of God and I love Him so much. And I feel guilty and hate myself for doing this. I just don't know how to stop. I'm too embarrased to speak to anyone about this.

Hey, I’m sorry to hear about this. Here’s a couple of thoughts.

Darkness hates the light. The more light you can shine on the situation the better. Get into God’s Word, specifically parts talking about how God relates with those in sin and bondage. Get help from friends and spiritual leaders. It’s near impossible to fight it alone.

Our drama team is doing a skit right now about this sort of thing, it’s all about how there’s no way to combat sexual temptation without the power of Jesus. We’re literally no match for the powers of hell. But the powers of hell are no match for our Savior. And that’s what He is in situations like this: a Savior. If we could do it ourselves we wouldn’t need Him. 

So don’t try to push all the darkness out of the room. Just keep plugging in more lamps. Prayer, scripture, worship, fasting, friends, accountability. God is a rescuer and He wants to walk you through this!!
