#this man is very attractive
brokentoashes:
The wolf was tired – but he didn’t want to rest. In fear that perhaps his shelter may not be strong enough; may not be suitable enough to take refugee in for the night. Of course, he was not foolish enough to think that he didn’t need to rest ; but, instead just fearful that freedom could be short lived. It was not the zombies he was afraid of getting in – he could take care of them with no issues. He wasn’t scared of the hunters – only scared of what they were capable of. Only scared that, through him, they would find Cora. He hadn’t been able to figure out why they wanted Cora; they wouldn’t tell him. Only that they needed her for something. Something Derek couldn’t give them. ( To spare his younger sister the heartache of them hunting her down – if he could’ve, he would’ve. ) Albeit – as he muses over what to do for the night – as it’s getting dark soon, a scent hits him. Not just one scent, many scents all at once. Most of them familiar. Scott. Stiles. Isaac-? Jackson? But, the ones he latched himself onto the most – the ones perhaps that confused him in some ways – were the familiar and comforting scents of family. CORA WAS HERE, and the confusion of her scent stemmed from the fact that there was a lack of the wild wolf he had grown up with. Laura … ? HIS MOTHER? Maybe he had been held longer than he thought he had, maybe he had lost it – maybe this was a cruel trick of the end of the world. But, he couldn’t be sure until he checked it out; if it truly was a trick, what else did he have to lose if he had already lost his sanity? He hesitates at the gates of the hotel – contemplating merely barging in. Howling was not an option; it was dark and would attract walkers. So, he wraps his fingers around the gates and waits – waits to first see if he can see anyone out in the dark – bright blue piercing the night.
They told her that walking was good, that it’d ease the pain and maybe it’d speed along the process, too. She called complete and utter bullshit, but she’d humor them, if it’d only bring her some goddamn peace. She was large now, very clearly due at any time, which meant that everybody and their mother (literally) wanted to crowd around her (just in case, they’d say.) But Cora couldn’t take it. She just wanted some peace.
So she went on walks, usually at night and usually outside. She knew someone would be watching, but at least this way she could BREATHE. It was... something, at least.
It was cold enough that she could see her breath, but she could still get by with wearing a light jacket. Her hair, which probably hadn’t been brushed in weeks, was up in a bun, high enough that it’d stay out of her way, save the few strands that had already fallen out. Already she had contemplated on cutting it a few times, saving her time and effort, but...
Her eyes trailed to the gate keeping them safe and in the split second that she saw the figure, she assumed the worst. Her first fear was hunters- how had they already found them? They had barely found each other. Without her wolf, she had no way of telling that the figure was familiar, and yet-- There was a faint light. A silhouette she was strangely familiar with seemed to stand against the bars with a purpose. Not a zom, then? No...
She took another step towards, her voice sore when she finally allowed herself to speak. “...Derek?” It wasn’t possible.
Weak. Cora was weak and she K N E W it. She was human, she was pregnant, and her emotions were constantly at war. She wasn’t supposed to survive this and somehow she figured that everyone else knew this, but she had... so far. She was due at any time, though she was shaky on when the conception had happened she feared that at any day she’d give birth and probably die. The worst part though, was her emotions. She had seen nearly everyone. They had all but reunited the group, hadn’t they? And yet she still hadn’t seen...
She felt her eyes welling up, the tears coming all too easy and she hated that. Was he dead? Was he avoiding her? She wasn’t sure which one was worse but she knew that had to be the case. There was no other options. Unless-- Her eyes scanned the crowd of others and for once she didn’t run, though her skin crawled from a claustrophobia she hadn’t realized she had. Was he here?
Her breath stuck in her throat when she saw the familiar face and the tears started too fall and it was only then that she started to back up, too afraid to see whatever rejection or anger her mind had told her he held for her.

hicsuntterritus:
“Oh you do?”
“REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD. REUNITED ‘CAUSE WE UNDERSTOOD.”
brokentoashes:
“Shit – Danny,” the male breaths, something wet catching in his throat.
“Like I said. Idiot.”
brokentoashes:
He let out a meek huff of a breath when the other spoke and ducked his head before gathering his barrings better, turning his gaze back to the vampire with a tip of his head, “ – just cause you don’t break easily don’t mean you can’t break.” He’s then shaking his head, “But, no, I’m not hurt.”
Tomos shrugged, allowing himself to smile, though he didn’t feel much like doing it. “They break a lot easier than I do,” was his quickest retort. But even then, and even after Chapman’s announcement that he was doing just fine, he stepped forward, trying to see if he could smell any sort of infection or open wound. When he couldn’t find it, he muttered out his own little, “Good.”
brokentoashes:
The emissary let out a long sigh, tucking his hands into his pockets, “See – when you’re used to not being used to people, it comes as much less of a culture shock.” There’s a small breath, then, “It’s good to see you, Cora. Really.”
“Good to see you too.” And it was. Even if it didn’t seem like it. “Surprised I made it this long?” She was.
brokentoashes:
Tabi’s breath hitches off somewhere in her chest – shaking her head adamently at the girl before she was rushing forward to embrace her – to cut off her rambled apologies. Apologies that were in no way needed from the young fox. “Shh —” the banshee hushed, burying her head against the other’s shoulder. “Don’t – Mac, you have nothing to be sorry for. I’m right here; it’s okay.”
Mackenzie was almost positive that this was a ghost, a fragment of her own imagination, and yet... those arms felt so real. The moment they wrapped around her, she found herself breaking-- her carefully placed mask crashing to the ground as the tears started to pour from her eyes. “I- I h-have so-” Sobs ripped through her words, preventing her from even finishing one sentence. I have so much to be sorry for.
brokentoashes:
Jackson let out a hollow grunt as the younger wrapped her arms around his center – but, once the fox’s arms settled around him, he was relaxing. He supposed he could make an exception, as long as she didn’t make it a habit. “Okay – okay, It’s good to see you too, Mac.”
Mackenzie huffed out a laugh, pulling away after the hug had lasted long enough (which was probably much longer than Jackson was comfortable with.) “See, I knew you’d come around one day. My hugs are irresistible!”
brokentoashes:
The alpha was shifting his weight from one leg to the other – and his expression seemed to soften as a small smile twitched at the corner of his lips. This had to be Mac, that Blake had told him about ; and, he felt a small swell of happiness that Blake had found her – along with everyone else – because he had known how worried she had been. “A hint?” he asked with a gentle quirk of his brow at the young fox, his expression warm. “Hmm – okay. Your Aunt and I knew each other before you were even born – how does that work?”
Mackenzie looked at him for a moment, squinting, as if that would make it any easier to make a guess as to who he was. “Hmmmm,” she hummed, taking a step closer. “There are a few options here, most of them pointing to secret lover, even though Auntie Blake would have definitely told me if that was the case. But maybe it’s lost secret lover, except Auntie Blake is too cool to have a tragic backstory like that and you’re clearly not lost. Maybe you’re an old high school friend, but what are the odds that you’d meet now? Maybe- Actually, high school friend makes a lot of sense.”
brokentoashes:
“Making an observation isn’t staring, darling. I’m not quite as caught up as everyone else. You need to work on your greetings.”
“It is if your eyes linger for more than five seconds. My eyes are up here.”
brokentoashes:
“I’m sure that some of these rooms have a balcony – maybe you could use some fresh air. I could come with you – I’m tired of the smell, too. Get some air, maybe talk some shit about some of the others – you know, everything we’ve missed.”
Cora didn’t normally admit well to bonding to, well, anyone, but she had bonded with Hayden over their time spent isolated from the rest of the group. Even if she knew that Hayden was still coddling-- watching over her, all the irritation had left over the other girl. “That’s probably the best idea I’ve heard all day.”
brokentoashes:
A shaky breath released from his lungs as he raked his teeth against his bottom lip, smoothing his hands over his pants before offering the vampire a light smile. “I know – I know. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t ‘ave to apologize to me, you didn’t offend me any.”
brokentoashes:
“… Danny. It’s good to see you’re well.”
“How are you- How?”

brokentoashes:
“Can we skip the hugging and just acknowledge that we’re happy to see each other without the touching?” he’s asking without looking up to his company.
“You’re an idiot.”
brokentoashes:
“ – are you hurt?”
“I don’t break all that easy. I uhm,” Tomos cleared his throat. How long had it been since he’d truly allowed himself to feel anything? Let alone the absolute terror that had coursed through his body when they had separated. “I should be asking you that.”
