( are those caps she hears jingling in her pockets ? ) rather than comment, however, jyn waits. if she's here for a hired gun, she'll find her way over. eventually.

GOOD HELP WAS HARD TO FIND. Presently, it seems like a wild understatement. Leonie's search has taken her to every grime-infested crime-ridden hellhole looking for clues, leads, and (optimistically) assistance, to no avail. It seemed that if she wanted help, she'd have to pay for it. She's been directed to a specific bar in search of a specific mercenary, after being told that was her best bet. Erso. It feels like pulling teeth, asking around to get an answer as to which of the bar's denizens bore that name, but eventually she has her pointed out.
"Good day," she begins once she's approached the woman carefully, the words sounding false even to her. No day was ever good up here, and that was likely the only thing she and everyone else up here could agree on. "I would like to employ your... services, if you're offering them."

OKAY I FINALLY KNOW WHAT I'M DOING: changing Leonie's fc, switching out some minor character details, ironing out her backstory and redoing my whole blog/theme. still gonna be out of commission until all thats done, but im starting on it today so stay tuned !!!
i DID get a lot done on this but then i poofed away shortly before completing it 💀 so i kinda lied. Leonie laments the utter and depressing lack of ingredients to make a cake that doesn't lack decorative icing or leave a weird razorgrain aftertaste, but a cake it is nevertheless! She presents it to her friend, Happy Birthday Sixie ♡ written in cursive across the plain top of the cake in plain white icing, a tilted smile on her face. "Hopefully we make bigger strides in culinary development so I can make you a better one next year."
The thing about June 7th is that to everyone else, it's just another day in the Wasteland. Caravans travel to and fro, a settlement needs protecting, raiders and super mutants terrorize people trying to make it another day. A birthday doesn't mean much to anybody, and Six doesn't mind that. It's a gift to be up and about, anyhow.
But Leonie -- Leonie surprises her. For all that Six never seems to be without something to say, she's well and truly speechless as she stares at the cake in wonder and awe. She wouldn't believe it was for her if her name wasn't written on it.
"It's the most beautiful thing I ever saw," and she means it, too -- maybe not to old world standards, but it looks home made, and that's the charm of it -- care was put into this cake and it shows. Tears prick at the corner of Six's eyes, and she hides her mouth behind her hand because she knows her smile is crooked and goofy, "You have lovely handwritin', Leonie. This is so thoughtful, I'm absolutely beside myself."
She'd hug it to her chest if it wouldn't destroy the hard work. Instead, she hugs Leonie and fights away the warnings and anxiety that flood her for getting too close to Brotherhood again. She wipes the corner of her eye and fixes the Lancer with doleful puppydog eyes.
"You'll share it with me, right?" And even if Nora cannot finish her piece, Six will eat every last bite.
