Here i was planning how i might weigh my puppet down if neccisary because i was unsure of how heavy the mask would be. I was also consideriny material types, scale and i made the top picture to messure out my puppets skelington.
Here I created my character turn around sheet and drew a few action posies.
And here i was simply playing around with what the characters face might look like and i was just thinking about how i might animate a puppets face that i need to make.
After figuring out the sort of character i wanted i started playing around with them, what sort of face i might use, what sort of skull they might have and i just played around with it.
When trying to designe my character for the puppet I wasn’t feeling creative in any way so I just drew blob shapes a lot and gave them faces...i also drew fruit shapes and gave them faces too.
Presentation Evaluation
For this presentation we looked at Fredarator as a studio since we liked the morals of the studio, it’s a place that caters to the creators and provides a space to produce new work, and then we looked for people with job roles we would personally be interested in within the company. We then met up a few times, worked and researched together and started putting the presentation together, talking and trying to keep people motivated and stress free. With each person we researched we put together a slid each, making it visually interesting, including some small gifs and videos and we also included a page on Frederator and then an end page on internet culture and audience behaviour and finally a thank you page. We also created Q cards and shared some of the slides so people listening wouldn’t get bored of one voice.
We were good at supporting each other and trying to keep each other relaxed and stressless as possible whilst making the presentation and before actually giving it. I hope everyone found it helpful, I think it makes for a better team dynamic. And we manged to put together a nice, simple and visually pleasing presentation. I also think it was notable that we managed to write about audience behaviours and internet culture, not a lot of people touched on it and I am proud we found something to talk about since we found the brief a little confusing. We also presented well considering how nervous everyone was to go first and talk in front of the class.
I think as far as improvements go we should try to look up from our Q cards some more, or at least practice what we are going to say more thoroughly before presenting, I think this will help with everyone's confidence when it comes to presenting and not relying too heavily on the cards.
I think practising and having more time to go over a finished presentation with each other would help, some people were quite harsh on themselves because they had already given in to the idea of failing. I think we could have helped each other by finding ways to present that worked better for everyone and other activities that increased peoples self confidence. I don’t like to see people beat up on themselves.
My written notes for presenting our presintation and my thoughts on internet culture and audiance behaviour.
Contacting Kirsten Lepore.
The question I asked was ‘How does being a freelance animation artist differ from working in a studio, like you did for Bad Jubies?’ Unfortuantly the email sent before I could copie and past the whole message here. Opps. Hopfully she replies and I can actually see what I sent! D:
The end tag Kristen Lepore made for fredarator.

The making of Bad Jubies and why I won’t be looking at it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3vCqrzOudw
Looking through this again its clear that Kristen Lepour, although a stopmotion artist, directed and wrote this episode which isn’t something I’m intrested in, so instead I’ll look at ‘Hi Stranger’ which was showen on the Fredorator website.
Looking again through Fredorators Youtube I get the feeling that although ‘Hello stranger’ was shown on Fredarators website it was not produced under the company, since when I typed Kristen Lepores name in the search bar only Sweet Dreams and Bottle came up so I am instead going to choose one of those.

Industry roles: Tim Allen
https://www.animdesk.com/tim-allen
An interview with Tim Allen who’s been working in the animation stopmotion industry for over 14 years.
Media industries working together. Stop motion.
A good example of this would be Kubo and two strings. To stay up to date Lakia used 3D printing to make quick, high quality face parts for each puppet and for some characters like the dragon towards the end. They also used 3D programes to create clothing and characters to walk around in the background. Mixing up what media used within a stopmotion gilm defianitly created a crisper, well animated movie compared to others that didn’t have the tecnology or just stuck fully to stop motion. By incuporating difrent medias like this the limations of stopmotion are lowed and it gives the artists more time and freedom.
Paper modles of the town folk to indicate where the 3D versions should go.

Excisting Industry Roles.
Here is a list of traits and skills you might need when trying to get into stop motion. Information from:
http://creativeskillset.org/job_roles/346_animator_stop_motion
To do this role, you will need to:
have strong observational, acting and timing skills
be able to work in a range of stop motion animation techniques, including excellent sculpting skills (if working in clay)
have good communication skills, including in liaising with members of other departments, particularly model making
have good team-working skills
be able to clean up models or puppets and make replacement parts, if required
be able to operate relevant animation and camera equipment
have a good understanding of character development and storytelling
be flexible and adapt to the requirements of different types of production for a variety of media, such as television, films, commercials, etc.
be able to take direction and accept constructive feedback
be able to work without supervision and follow a brief
be able to deliver on schedule, working calmly and efficiently under pressure
show respect for the procedures and requirements of a particular studio or production
have knowledge of the requirements of the relevant health and safety legislation and procedures
The sorts of jobs that you can expect to find within the stop motion industry are those you’d expect to find in the genral animation studios like, producer, director, animation diretcor, script and story writers, animators, designers, background and colour artists, ect. But stopmotion includes a lot more designe. Designe for the puppets, props, background, puppets clothes, you have to consider that everything you want to be shown has to be made. You then have to also thing about what your limitations are going to be, can the puppet move in a certain way? Will gravity be too much of a problem? How are you going to animate each strand of hair? Stop motion has a lot more problem solving and needs whole teams to create each individual aspect of what can be seen on top of what you would expect from a 2D animation.
