These are some new prints I've been making that might be part of a book called "Journal of Malcontent"
The idea is to cast a spell through the act of print-making itself. Each print is an incantation, initiated through the process of laying out the words, carving the rubber block, stamping the paper, and pressing (smashing) the block down into the paper as hard as possible. It's an activity meant to exorcise frustration, relieve tension, and to re-balance the psyche. It's a satisfying form of self-therapy and nice to look at when they're finished.

Here's the wall piece we did for Rose & Sons, a restaurant at Dupont and Spadina. The dimensions are 30 feet long by 64 inches high. This piece started as a scaled drawing that incorporated the themes of comfort food, alcohol, marijuana, and rock 'n roll symbols as suggested by the clients. Once the drawing was approved by the clients, we scanned it, had it scaled to the actual size, and then printed it in sections. The result was a blown-up banner of the original drawing in 12 panels. We decided to use wallpaper paste to glue the 12 panels to the wall. First a thick layer of paste goes onto the wall itself. Once the panel is lined up properly it gets stuck onto the wall and more paste gets painted over it. Getting the paper really saturated with glue helps it conform to the bumpy surface of the brick wall. When everything dried we came back and painted a layer of matte medium over it, to help seal and protect the piece.
