I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you’ll miss them when they’re gone from your life. I’ve learned that making a “living” is not the same thing as making a “life.” I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back. I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I’ve learned that even when I have pains, I don’t have to be one. I’ve learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. I’ve learned that I still have a lot to learn. Best friends:
3rd grade: I had a friend who would do anything for me to like her. I took her for granted though and remember being so envious of this girl who stole her from me. 4th grade: I had a friend who’s number one goal was to be above everyone else. She was the kind of girl who stood out in the room. From such a young age you knew she was destined to be someone important when she got older. 6th grade: I had a friend who made me question my sexuality. I remember her being so perfect but as time went on I realized I just wanted to be like her, not with her. 8th grade: I had a friend who I considered my first real best friend. She changed my mindset on so many different things. We were inseparable. I never knew what a true friendship was until I met her. I remember when we rode our bikes to the pier and sat along the rocks and we promised that we’d never stop being friends. But like what happens to all good things it ended. 9th grade: I had a friend who’s heart was pure as gold. I had never met someone so kind and so caring until I met her. I was at the lowest point in life when I met her and she took me in without a second thought. She and her family motivated me to try my hardest and never gave up on me. They were like the family I never really had. She was always very good at masking her feelings. I wish I would have known sooner that you weren’t the happiest person yourself. You helped me so much and I wish I could’ve done the same for you. 10th grade: I had a friend who’s identity changed every few months. She really was one of a kind. Definitely not someone who you’d forget easily. She acted like such a bitch to people she didn’t know but I get why she did it. She had been let down so often in her life that it was easier just to push people away than have temporary people around. 11th grade: I had a friend who’s heart was full of hatred. Who could blame her though, she had so many reasons to be that way. Don’t get me wrong, the few people she didn’t hate she cared about them more than she did herself. We were kind of like opposites when it came to our personalities… Maybe that’s why we got along so well. She was always seeing the worst in things and I was seeing the best. I made her a little more loving and she made me be a little more realistic towards situations. When people talk about wishing they had a best friend that they could do anything with that was us. Our friendship was as perfect as it could possibly get. The kind of friend you’re never suppose to let go of because friendships like that come once in a lifetime. I know we ended on bad terms but I still wish the best for you. I know you’ll make it far in life because you’re the kind of person who doesn’t give up on themselves easily. You’ll always be the chips to my salsa.
Currently: I have a friend who is my other half, my soulmate, my right hand, my everything. He’s the kind of person that would go to the end of the world and back for me without complaining once about it. He didn’t leave my side once when I had to be hospitalized for 10 days. There’s nothing we don’t feel comfortable doing or saying around each other. When I first met him I didn’t think we’d ever come as far as we have. It’s scary to think of him as my first true love because those never have happy endings. Yet, I know we’ll be in each other’s lives a very long time. People have doubted our capabilities from the start but we’ve proved them wrong about everything. From graduating, to starting our lives, to getting careers, to raising our daughter Mia. They said having a child would ruin our relationship but honestly, I couldn’t be anymore in love with the both of them. He's the one person I hope to never lose, but I’m not worried about that because I know of all people he is one of the few who won’t do me wrong.

three years ago i was trapped in an awful relationship with a toxic person who blamed me for her drug addition. i had to break up over the phone because every other time i’d tried to break up in person, she had coerced me into staying.
this wednesday my boyfriend drove 45 minutes out of his way just to give me coffee during my long work day like i didn’t have time to do anything but hug him and thank him. when i was close to tears with gratitude, he shrugged and said, “of course.”
things get better. you will go from standing in the shower thinking “god what if this is for the rest of my life” to “god, i hope this is for the rest of my life.” hold on, okay?
