Setting up a small greenhouse next to the medical bay had been one of the requirements Mei had outlined in her agreement to join the Project. The Director had thought that a small room in exchange for her medical and field expertise was a small price to pay and had even supplied special florescent lights to help the plants grow.
All she needed to do was add the plants.
She thought she’d have enough time to set up her greenhouse before the first injuries came in but Freelancers and soldiers came in often. Nothing life-threatening, but even small wounds required her full attention and more often than not she was busy tending to people rather than plants.
But York was asleep so Mei took to her sideroom and started organising her plants. Some were already in full bloom while others were seedlings gently placed in fertile soil and tucked up close to the lights.
Hearing someone walk into the medbay and she pulled her hands out of the dirt, turning to call, “Just a moment!” as she quickly brushed soil onto her small apron. “If you’re really grievously injured just have a seat, I’ll be out in a moment.”
