𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙇𝘼𝙎𝙏 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙈𝙄𝘼 𝙒𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙎 𝙏𝙊 𝘿𝙊 𝙄𝙎 𝙄𝙉𝘾𝙊𝙉𝙑𝙄𝙀𝙉𝘾𝙀 𝙎𝙊𝙈𝙀𝙊𝙉𝙀. to even gather the courage to bother kana had taken at least half an hour. and once she had dragged the knight back to her chambers she wondered if this was such a smart idea. her father was just down the hall. she could have easily gone to him. an awful nightmare had awoken her, causing her to shiver under her covers. she won't be able to go back to sleep unless someone is with her. but her father isn't the first person she had thought of when she'd sat up in a cold sweat. her sweet knight, kana . . . she was always comforting. much more than her father had been in half a decade. shutting the large door behind her she turns, facing kana with flushed cheeks. taking her hand she leads her to a pastel bed, pulling back the covers for them to slip under. once comfortable mia breaks the silence.

❛ i had an awful dream. ❜ the princess whispers under her breath. large blue eyes stare at the knight. ❛ can you stay until . . . i go back to sleep ? then you can leave. ❜ she says, a soft pleading in her tone. mia asks her but, she knows well enough that kana won't hesitate to do as she requests. it doesn't stop her from giving the option regardless. they settle under the covers, mia's arms wrapping around kana's waist. she feels the other stiffen under the touch and mia bites her cheek. gently she holds her knight, within minutes falling asleep. by the time she wakes it must be nearing the middle of the night. four am ? maybe even five ? she figured kana would be gone, having snuck back to her room. but that warmth hadn't left her. the solid form of her knight still rests loosely in her grasp. she could have easily left and yet . . .

her next words surprise mia. does her knight know she has woken ? she isn't entirely sure. the comment may not be meant for her ears but regardless they're burning red now. the tone of her voice doesn't sound annoyed or upset . . . instead it causes mia's legs to press together. the princess wonders if she she speak up. what could she even say ? without thinking she forces her eyes closed, the scent of kana filling her nose as she presses her face against the woman's back. in the morning she can apologize for passing out so quickly. in the morning she can fix this but mia's eyes grow heavy. soon the royal is asleep once more.
