“Do I even want to ask how this happened?” Aubrey asked, tweezers in he hand as she continued to pull out thorns from the others skin. “Did you piss off some woodland creature? Fall in a push? Find someone with the abilities that are liken to sonic the hedgehog?” She couldn’t help but smirk, teasing the other.

Marian. Gabriel cleared his own throat when the little girl waved enthusiastically to him. He squatted down, raised his hand and waved back, “Hi Mari,” he said softly to her. After a moment he stood up straight once more. “What does she know about her father?” he couldn’t help but ask Aubrey, trying to keep his tone light around the little girl.

Aubrey swallowed thickly at the others question, her heart hammering in her chest, “Not a lot.” She answered honestly, “But that might be due to the fact she doesn’t exactly know a lot about her mother either.” She added, shifting on the spot and holding her daughter tighter. “She knows he’s a good man and that her mother loved him-.. that she made a mistake.” She knew Gabriel would know that this was all coming from her now, Marian’s knowledge of their relationship did not run this deep. “That she shouldn’t have ran away from her life and from him... that she should have let him get to know his daughter.”

Emma stood in the line of the cafe, holding a menu in her hand reading it as she waited. “I think I might just get a coffee… What are you thinking? My shout.” 

“Is it wrong for me to get more then one coffee before lunch time?” Aubrey asked the other, “I feel like I’ve been awake for twelve hours already and I still have so much to do today. I need something to keep me going.”

Thana had taken up the habit of reading the obituaries when she was a child, and as she got older, it’d never really stopped. If anything, it’d gotten more useful as she could usually keep tabs on how long a grave was off limits so as not to deal with the fleshy bits. She was sitting on a bench in the local park and just minding her own business when someone sat next to her. “Y’know, I think “death by stand mixer” is a new one.” She commented.

“I’m sorry?” Aubrey commented, having been in her own little world when the person she had been sat next to for quite some time now spoke up. “Did you just say death by stand mixer?”

Gabriel was taking a walk through the park. Riley had things under control back at the garage and he thought he’d go for some air and a smoke. But as he was walking he literally ran into an unexpected pair. “Hey,” he replied quietly to Aubrey, looking at the little girl she had scooped up. “Is… is that who I think it is?” he blinked as if in disbelief that the girl was really before him right now.

Aubrey didn’t know what to do, she knew there was chances of her being with Marian and stumbling across the other but it hadn’t happened so far so she thought she was safe. She realized she was staring dumbly at him and was only brought back to her senses when the little girl in her arms began tugging on her hair, “I-... yes, it is.” She commented clearing her throat. “Gabriel, this is Marian-.. say hi, Mari.” She smiled, looking to the little girl who was less then shy and all but hit her in the face as she flung out a small arm to wave at the other.

“You know this was a good idea. We both needed this.” Aubrey commented as she pulled out the sandwiches and cans of soda from her bag. “Granted it’s not the fanciest of picnics and it is just a lunch break, but it’s still time to sit, relax and switch off as much as we can.”

“No-... no, Marian.. the duck doesn’t want to be that friendly with you.” Aubrey commented, chasing after the younger girl who was chasing after a duck, only to crash into someone after she scooped her up. “I’m sorry she just-... loves... animals.” She faltered, staring at Gabe and feeling her heart beat hard against her chest. “Hi.”

Aubrey had her hand covering her arm where blood was slowly staining her hand, “I’ve had much worse.” She commented, hissing a little at the pain, “I just- got distracted, rookie mistake.”

It had been a rather slow day at the garage so when somebody game up, Gabe could hear them without them having to call for him or ring the bell. He had been tinkering with some broken parts so he wiped off the grease and threw the rag over his shoulder, moving to the front of the garage. “Hey, how may I help you today,” Gabriel replied as if rehearsed, suddenly seeing who had come for some help. It was someone he hadn’t seen in a long while “Aubrey? What are you doing here?”

Aubrey recognised that voice, how could she not recognise it. Her fingers and eyes felt frozen to the device in her hands, wondering if there was some sort of way she could become invisible and the other would not know she was there, but as soon as she heard her name come from his mouth she knew there was no hope. “I-... my car-..” She answered lamely, pointing to the vehicle, “I-.. I didn’t know you worked here.”

Aubrey didn’t believe in luck all that much, maybe that’s because her own was terrible and today wasn’t any exception. She was supposed to drive out to her Aunt’s an hour ago and just as she was on her way out of town, her car broke down. She guessed it served her right, given that the only time she used it was to go see said Aunt. Now she was stood impatiently in a garage, waiting to be served whilst furiously typing out an apology to her relative.

“I’m actually on my break. There’s someone working behind the counter right now who can help you with whatever you need.” Tobias replied, placing his face in his hands and rubbing his eyes without looking up at the other. He had been having a lot of nightmares recently. He wished they were just nightmares and not memories too. They were keeping him up at night and even coffee wasn’t helping, “Unless you’re not here for something coffee related?” He asked, as he realised someone was still standing nearby.

“Yeah, I’m not really after coffee- but if you’re busy or really don’t want anyone around right now I can still go to the counter.” Aubrey commented, he brows furrowing at the sight of the other. “Are- are you okay?” She asked, though it might have been against her better judgement to do such a thing, given she wasn’t exactly a people person.

“I’m more of a Halloween guy myself, but I won’t say no to gingerbread cookies,” Arcadius admitted, pulling another out of the tin he had bought himself at the Christmas market. “Want one? I’m feeling oddly generous today.”

“Are they your Christmas weakness?” Aubrey commented, a small smile on her face and an eyebrow raised at the others words. “Normally I would say no- but cookies of any variety are my weakness. Especially with the cup of tea.” Aubrey commented, taking a cookie from the other with a small thank you. “Though, what makes Halloween so special for you? And what cookie would you be eating if it was October?”

Aubrey leaned over to read the message the other had written before sighing, “I blame the winter suit, whilst I know it’s practical in the sense that it keeps me warm. It’s a little restricting and my arrows keep snagging the material.”
