Kidnapped by rogue treasure hunter Mortimer Kane, Ned Carstairs has been taken to North Africa, where Kane seeks the Knife of Khanak.

But at the Port of El- Shamar, Carstairs captures of attention of two white slave traders, who now plan to abduct Carstairs and sell him!

Chapter 11- Desperate Measures!

The story so far. Ned Carstairs has returned to his old school of St. VIncents to give and end of term speech, but no sooner there, he is kidnapped by a sinister gang of villains. Carstairs learns that the real intended target was School Captain Gordon Trelawney.

Ned manages to escape and returns to the school and warns Trelawney and Headmaster Croxton of the danger. Carstairs asks Inspector Barrington of Scotland Yard to investigate.

The Inspector and his assistant Charlie are soon in action as the villains abduct both Carstairs and Trelawney under therir very noses! Carstairs is rescued but as Barrington and Charlie attempt to rescue Trelawney, both they and Carstairs are captured,

They discover the head of the gang in as Nazi Agent called Von Kruelmann ( AKA the Hawk!) They also learn that Von Kruelmann seeks trelawney's late fathers journal which contains an unknown secret that Von Kruelmann desires.

Von Kruelmann has Castairs, Barrington and Charlie bound and gagged and set out to sea in a motor launch, one which is slowly set to sink!
