August was raised by parents who were in the medical field. They had big expectations for all of their children to follow in their footsteps. August happened to be the opposite though and he didn't want to go into the medical field while all his other siblings did. He was watching the food network channel from a young age and he wanted to create something positive, like a good meal.

When he was sixteen years old, he had the opportunity of going to the real hell's kitchen with his aunt who had bought him tickets because they bonded over the show and love of Gordon Ramsay. It was one of the nights that he was filming and he bugged his aunt to hang out and eventually he got to see Gordon Ramsay and even meet him and obtained an autograph. To this day, this would be the best day of August's life.

He went on to go to school for culinary, wanting to be the next Gordon, but his parents didn't agree with this decision so they weren't helping him pay. He took out loans and he moved out of his house and moved in with his aunt who was more than supportive of his deam. August never understood why his parents were so against him chasing the dream that he had for himself.

After graduating, August moved back to DC and got a job in a kitchen as the low man on the totem pole so he lived with his aunt for quite some time before he eventually moved up the ladder and he was a sous chef. While that wasn't his dream, it allowed him to move out from his aunt's house and he was working hard.

One night, his siblings sabotaged him outside of the restaurant because he had blocked his parents so they couldn't reach out to him. They told him that he needed to be more open minded to what they wanted for him and that he could do better than spend the rest of his life in a kitchen. August knew that he had to draw a line and so he quit his job, packed his things and then moved to Windsory Bay which was far away from his family so that he could live his own life without feeling judged.

Little does he know, he's got some half siblings hanging out in town because his perfect family wasn't so perfect as it seemed.

He grinned, glad the other didn't mind the flirt. He didn't always know what guys were into it or not around town. But thankfully, the other was fine with it. "Yes," he laughed as he gave a cheesy smile. "I am a dentist," he grinned "So ones with a lot of sugar give me work," he laughed. "Nice to meet you too," he smiled at meeting a new friend. He knew the frosting ones were very good but also were the worst for you. "They are always win-lose sort of cookie, so good In taste but also so bad for you," he chuckled. "But they are for sure!" he knew what the other was saying. "Same white cookie with whatever holiday color suited," he laughed. @augustloverson

"A dentist? Interesting." He said as he looked at the man. "I mean I'd let you into this mouth anytime." August responded to the other as he looked at the man and then shrugged his shoulders a bit, knowing exactly what he was saying. "I know they are so good for the soul though." He mentioned to the hot dentist while he smirked. "Exactly! Those cookies are absolutely amazing and I am more than willing to take a cavity for them. Something I'll never give up."

There was a level of small town kindness that she never realized she missed, until it smacked her square in the face. "You don't have to..." Letting him go first was something she definitely wouldn't have considered worth reciprocating, but maybe he was just a nicer person than she was. She was used to a quick 'thanks' and everyone moving on with their morning. "But hey, I'll tip for us, at least," she offers, then orders, "Just a medium of the house drip for me, room for creamer please."

"I know I don't have to, I just wanted to. Pay it forward kind of thing." August mentioned to the woman and then he shrugged his shoulders a but, "There ya go! Perfect, give them a nice tip so that they feel appreciated." August mentioned before handing his card over to the barista and then looking back at the woman as she ordered and once the payment was finalized, he smiled a bit. "I'm August, by the way. Yes, just like the month."

Nolan chuckled "You and both, looks like we both are big and strong and won't get hurt that easily." he winked at the other. He nodded. "They are great and great for my business, so it's a win for me," he teased as he held the door open for the other male. "But my name is Nolan." he smiled at the other and held out his hand to the other once both were inside. "But I have been here. They changed up the cookies a lot, so it's great. They all are great." he smiled as he looked at the counter and what they had today. "I mean, I would pass on the ones with a lot of frosting ... not good for the teeth," he winked.

"Yeah well, I can see that." August replied to Nolan as he looked at him and winked back at him and allowed a flirtatious smile to follow. "Great for your business? What do you mean by that?" He asked as his head tilted to the side a bit. He walked into the cookie store and then looked back at him, "Nice to meet you Nolan, I'm August." He replied. "Ah, now it makes sense what you're talking about." August laughed a bit and then he shrugged. "Sorry but the ones with all of the frosting are the best ones to ever have. Like those sugar cookies from the store with the fake ass frosting, love those. They're fantastic!" @nolanxhayes

He always hated it when he did something like this, running into someone. He knew better, he knew he should have looked up from his phone. But it only took that one second. that he looked down, and someone walked out from the side where he hadn't seen the other form before. But it was all too late now, he had run into someone but had stepped back and smiled a little. The other was pretty cute.

"I am glad that I didn't hurt you," he said, looking at him for a moment. "I had to look at my phone I just got off of work and wasn't looking," he sighed, he didn't use his phone all day at work mostly, so he did miss it and kept looking at his phone after work. "Let me get you a cookie to say sorry about the run in" Nolan laughed.

"Yeah don't have to worry about that. Luckily I'm not someone who is too fragile and gets hurt by just being knocked into." August replied to the other as he laughed softly and then smirked at the other. "Listen, I'm not going to turn down a free cookie. I hear this place is really good too so I'm going to let you do that. I also know it's not the cheapest and I'm not one to turn down anything that's free. But have you been here before? Another day's worth of errands were ahead of Becca and she was already dragging her feet. The bed was just too comfortable to leave when the alarm rang that morning, setting her schedule off enough to skip breakfast. The stop at Mug Shot was practically a requirement if she wanted anything done before dinner. Her attention is on the menu board, bouncing between the danish or a croissant, until she hears the barista speak to someone behind her. "Hm? Oh, sorry-" she has enough sense to laugh at herself as she steps to the side, "No, I'm not ready. You can go ahead of me." Not that it mattered; she always gets the same thing, anyway.

As he was looking at the menu since he wasn't sure what he wanted, August heard a voice and he was brought out of his trance and he looked around before seeing it was the woman in front of him speaking. "Oh yeah I uhm, sure." He said as he walked up to the counter and ordered himself a cold brew along with a muffin and then he turned, "Plus whatever she's getting." He mentioned to the barista and handed them his card and waited for her to order. @bloomtide

Nolan had finished up work today, and it being a busy day, he told himself he was going to give himself a treat. So he planned to go to Cookie Crumbles and give himself a treat. He always found it funny that he had a sweet tooth, being a dentist himself, knowing how bad it was for him. But he knew how to care for his teeth, so he was able to have some treats after work.

He had changed from his scrubs and was wearing jeans and a plain T-shirt, but he was wearing a jacket with the dental office's name on it. He made his way, walking down the street as the dental office was just about a block away from Cookie Crumbles, so he was fine with walking there. Nolan had looked down at his phone at the worst time and walked right into someone. "Oh shoot, I am sorry!' he took a step back. "I hope you're alright!" he gave a nervous laugh.

August had been thinking about Cookie Crumbles a lot lately. A friend of his had told him that if he was looking for a really good sweet treat then he should try it out. He decided that today was the day. As he normally preferred ice cream for a sweet treat, he was okay with trying something new and wanted a baked good.

As he was getting ready to head in, his phone vibrated and of course it was one of his siblings trying to call him. He wasn't sure how they got his new number but it was annoying him that they weren't taking the hint. He threw the phone into his back pocket and he was so distracted thinking about his family before he realized that he was walking into someone and he had to take a few steps back to assess the situation. "Oh I am so sorry." He said as he looked up and saw the handsome man in front of him. "Oh yeah, I'm fine. Are you all good?" @nolanxhayes

Rafe  couldn't  stop  the  snort  after  hearing  August's  excitement.  “Yeah,  drag  shows  bring  in  everyone  from  priests  to  whores.”  In  the  last  two  decades,  the  changes  that  came  to  Simple  Pleasures  would  have  broken  a  lesser  business.  From  a  seedy  strip  club  whose  clientele  were  missing  teeth  and  limbs,  to  the  extravagant  atmosphere  he  had  built  up  –  it  had  taken  time  for  Gideon  to  come  around  to  SIN  at  Simple  Pleasures,  and  it  had  been  an  all  out  brawl  when  Rafe  introduced  drag  shows.  “Not  a  bad  money  maker.”  There  were  always  going  to  be  the  whales  that  came  in  with  heart  eyes  and  a  hard-on  -  some  took  a  look  around  and  then  bailed  because  they  thought  it  would  only  cater  to  them. 

Rafe  enjoyed  pissing  people  off  and  being  inclusive  for  his  staff  was  a  damn  good  bonus. 

“Why  am  I  sitting  alone?  Who  is  brave  enough  to  sit  next  to  me?”  He  asked  seriously,  as  he  gestured  to  the  bartender  who  filled  up  his  seltzer  and  when  Rafe  gestured  to  August,  the  indication  was  clear  -  give  him  a  drink.   “I'm  checking  over  the  books  before  tonight's  show.  We're  closed  tomorrow,  and  I  don't  feel  like  doing  it  then, and i'm curious - what brings you to Windsor Bay?” @augustloverson

"You appeal to a majority of the community when you have drag night I feel like so they come in and buy all the drinks they can and I'm sure they tip the gals well." August explained to the owner as he laughed a bit.

"Well what's that supposed to mean? Are you mean and scary? I don't think you appear that way." He said and then spoke to the bartender, "Tequila seltzer please." He said and then turned back to Rafe and he shrugged. "I threw a dart on the map and this is where it landed." That was partially true, but there was obviously more reasons behind his choice in moving to Windsor Bay and away from his family. @treskxngs

partially because he knows the caffeine will do some kind of reverse psychology on his adhd, and because he needs to get out of the house – kiernan has slowly started to become a regular at the various small little spots in town. it's better than trying to focus at his dads house – his house? – where there would be effectively no luck in getting anything done beyond cleaning his room, unpacking, anything that isn't what he needs to be doing. and so in turn, here he sits.

“just research — y'know anything ‘bout critical discourse analysis?” probably not, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. kiernan shrugs.  boring, maybe, but it kept his dad off his back and at least gave him somethin' to do. “well you did ask ‘bout it .. can’t be that boring if it's got you curious.” a shrug. maybe he's weird for liking it, but it's better than sitting here and people watching. “don't ask me ‘bout it, though, ‘cause it’s still in the early stages.” aka he had just purchased the book.

"Uh... I'm going to have to say no, I don't know anything at all about whatever it is that you just said." August replied to him as he then laughed a bit. He wasn't the dumbest in the world, but he also wasn't the brightest bulb either because he never needed to know things like that. But if you wanted to know ll the shapes of pasta then that's something that August could assist with. "I guess i was just being kind. It looks intriguing but now that you said what it was then I think I'm going to have to pass on it." He mentioned before taking a sip of his coffee. "Well there you go then, we will have to find something else to talk about or I can just sit here quietly and look pretty." @goldstien

IT'S HARD TO FOCUS AT HOME.    which, really, it actually isn't – kiernan knows better than to place the entire blame for his lack of ambition to do things that are being asked of him on his environment and not the entirety of his brain just not wanting to do it. a change of scenery is best: moving house and all of the things that come with it to get going, be productive and actively do something that isn't clicking his phone off and on repeatedly, scrolling through social medias and effectively getting jealous again. it's a cycle he's trying hard to not repeat — and in turn, he's actual doing work. communication and theory research is actually interesting enough to catch his attention, meaning there's an actual notebook open and his laptop shining bright. maybe he should invest in them glasses.  it's a moment before he looks up from his work. headphones blasting a bit too loud, a crowd forms for what he can only assume is the pre nightshift or leaving work rush – or something like that. there's only a few tables and while they seem to be mostly taken, he knows better than to be rude - or, at least, rude on purpose. he was raised better than that. “uh --” says to the person next to him. if they're looking for a seat or just waiting for someone kiernan is unsure. “you can sit here, if you want. i can move my shit — “ makes work of doing just that. ”or you can push it if it's still in your way." shrugs.

Of course August needed his second dose of caffeine. He had his morning caffeine with his pre workout before he went to the gym and now he was starting to crash so he was going to get himself a coffee and then probably in the evening would have a redbull because he was a caffeine fiend. He was in Java Junction as he saw that it was pretty packed. He managed to get his cold brew and was looking for somewhere to sit and enjoy it.

He walked up to a table that was kind of open, but he was cute and so August was open to trying his luck with sitting there. He smiled as the other gentleman offered to move his things and then August sat down in the seat across from the other. "What are you working on there? It looks pretty interesting and by interesting I would say boring." August mentioned and just looked at him. @goldstien

Rafe  didn't  often  have  down  time.  He  had  told  his  therapist  that  he  had  down  time  every  night  for  5-7  hours  a  night.  Then,  the  therapist  told  him  that  sleeping  didn't  count  as  downtime,  which  Rafe  had  wanted  to  argue  with  them  over,  but  he  had  learned  the  hard  way  that  his  therapist  had  a  way  of  twisting  his  own  words  back  against  him  and  digging  up  some  connection  between  how  he  was  acting  in  the  present  and  how  he  had  felt  at  some  point  in  the  past.

(like  at  this  point  in  time,  he  knew  that  his  therapist  would  say  that  his  refusal  to  engage  in  deep  relationships  with  others  was  indicative  of  a  poor  attachment  style,  whatever  the  hell  that  meant.)

Simple  Pleasures  wouldn't  be  open  for  a  few  hours,  which  meant  he  had  enough  time  to  walk  through  the  club,  check  each  of  the  private  rooms  to  ensure  they  met  his  standard,  double-check  the  inventory  and  connect  with  the  VIP  hosts  to  make  sure  they  had  what  they  needed.  Now,  Rafe  was  able  to  sit  at  the  bar  with  a  glass  of  soda  and  look  through  the  book  of  talent  that  had  been  given  to  him.  There  was  the  familiar  sound  of  people  talking,  as  there  had  been  a  line  for  two  hours  -  and  he  never  opened  early.

Still,  there  were  a  few  people  that  he  would  allow  to  enter  early  --  staff  members  and  the  occasional  friend...  though  sometimes,  people  came  in  who  thought  they  were  friends  and  had  the  privilege.  It  didn't  happen  often  now  as  Rafe  was  far  stricter  than  Gideon  had  been.  "Nothing  is  on  fire,  so  I  don't  know  why  you're  here."  He  said,  looking  up  briefly  from  the  book.  "And  if  something  is  on  fire..."  he  left  that  statement  hanging.

August had plopped himself down on the barstool next to the man who was speaking about some sort of fire or why he was here. He noticed the book that the other was readong and then looked back up at the gentleman who was speaking. "I know nothing is on fire, but It's about to be. This club is about to be on fire for the rest of the night since it's drag night. I've only been in town for six months, but I love coming here for drag night because it's so much fun." August replied to the other.

"I'm here because it's going to be an amazing night. I'm actually here with one of my friends who is performing tonight and she said I could come up here and get a drink so I decided that's what I'm going to do." He said to the other and then ordered himself a mixed drink and waited. "What are you doing here, sitting all alone?" @treskxngs
