omg I think there might be a pillow fort mentioned in season one? I think you hypnotized me though into misremembering, I’m not really sure but it might be because it just sounds like something they’d talk about!
on patreon I’ve been developing a short story series that shows what happens between seasons one and two… I have a lot of ideas, but something I’m sort of constraining myself to is that the period between then is essentially covid! I don’t know why, it’s my own world, so I could’ve make covid nonexistent, but there’s something so fun about having fictional worlds be in the same timeline as our own - it makes it more immersive I guess?
but essentially, I say all that to say, I’m getting to explore some things like this! Basically each short story takes steps closer to Vol II. Season one’s epilogue ends in December 2020, with August on her way to visit Lorena for their first date. It’ll then move on to January 2021 for the next story, and then February 2021, until we arrive in the weeks leading up to the Orb appearing at move-ins (which is August 2021). Luckily a vaccine comes out in April 2021 so the first few months might jumpscare us with social distancing and masking, but it isn’t overly annoying in the story.
It’s been really fun / weird to be omnipresent in-universe as CTFA is a “found footage” concept, so you’re just hearing recordings and you’re not really allowed to pop into people’s heads. But there’s a bit in the first story where I actually went into August’s mom’s head and got her thoughts on August’s friendship with Toni. It was a new thing for me and I really enjoyed it!
All that to say, it’s also a very carefree time in the characters’ lives. I’m excited to spend time with them without all the sci-fi chaos that’s dictated their lives! We get to spend some time with them doing things like building a pillow fort (which, if I incorporate, I will gladly credit you into that story, hehe).
Fun fun theories though! I personally wonder what Esmond will be like on holidays, like Christmas and Halloween HAS to be such a childlike time for him?! He deserves that! Give that angel a BREAK (said by the person who’s put him through all his pain)
