Cole was slumped on the couch, fingers flying over his keyboard as he focused on his coding. Often when he was coding he was absent from the rest of the world. Too focused on his craft, some artists paint, Cole codes. But this voice pierces his usual laser focus and stiffens him along the ridge of his spine. He bites his lip as he dares himself to turn a bit on the couch to catch a glimpse of the other. He swallows as he recognizes the other. And with it something more unsettling to him than the fact that people are missing and dead by means that he has yet to recognize. He’s always been selfish though, this affects him far more than the deaths of those who he didn’t have a strong connection to. This threatens his biggest secret.

Cole shuts his laptop and sits up fully to turn on the couch and rest on his knees and look over the back. His hazel eyes narrow at the other with accusation, “What the hell are you doing here Gus?” He asks his words hissing past his teeth before his eyes dart around the room for others who may be around that he hadn’t previously noticed while lost in code.

Gus heard a noise from the couch nearby and realized someone was in the room with him. When a figure turned on the couch and he saw the face before him, his immediate response was a bright smile. Cole. Gus’ decision to come here had been random and he’d had no idea who he was going to run into once he walked in the front door. Seeing Cole first seemed like an indication that he’d made an excellent choice coming.

Except then Cole spoke and the smile on Gus’ lips fell. “I – ah – I heard about the ad at work. It sounded like it would be an adventure, you know?” He shrugged and moved to the other side of the room, where he could see Cole better. He wasn’t sure what to say or if he should even press a conversation, especially the way the other male was glancing around the room, clearly to be sure nobody was paying attention to them. “Why did you come?” he asked, curiosity on his features, “Doesn’t seem like the kind of thing you’d be into. It’s great to see you though.”

Gus is officially in the building. Although his stuff isn’t showing up in tags just yet.

Fashionably late was something that Gus did well. There was no real reason for his constant tardiness, he just always seemed to get caught in something and then deadlines were the last consideration. The world was a constant fascination to him, but that made him a little flaky. Showing up to Crenshaw Manor wasn’t the exception to the rule. That’s why he was walking in the door, eyes taking in the giant house as he tugged his backpack off and wondered idly why nobody else was around. Gus left his olive-green backpack atop a chair in the first room he walked into and spoke out, “Hello. Anyone around?” He figured if he didn’t see anyone soon he’d make himself at home and tour the home. He’d taken off work for the adventure to come and he wanted to soak it up as much as he possibly could.
