"American University Museum Director Jack Rasmussen, a consistent supporter of D.C. art, found a hole for an exhibit last year when he learnedThe Washington Arts Museum was publishing Washington Art Matters, a book on local art from 1940 to 1989. Earlier this year, the book's authors gave Rasmussen a list of artists to include in the show, and the museum got to work plucking the relevant art from private collections and three area museums in under 10 weeks (the museum already owned about a third of the work)."

This is an installation view of Color Field, artist Liza Lou’s new exhibition/installation at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. The painting in the background is a Kenneth Noland. Lou is the second guest on this week’s Modern Art Notes Podcast.

Color Field is on view at the MCASD through November 3. It is in the MCASD’s downtown Jacobs Building.

Lou is a MacArthur ‘genius’ award recipient and has had solo shows at the Akron Art Museum, the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
