Princess Audrey Rose from Descendants
@auradonrulers, sorta plotted starter
Mal woke with a groan. Her head hurt. She could remember sitting on the beach with her sketchpad, she could remember drawing what the Isle looked like from that beach. A brief moment of thinking she saw something leave the Isle followed by the conclusion that that would be impossible. No one could get past that magic barrier, after all. Then more drawing. And then there were people she had never seen before surrounding her, a sharp pain to her head then darkness.
She moved to have one of her hands go to her head, only stopped when she realized her other hand was coming with. Her eyes opened, now suddenly very awake. Hands tied together, a little bit of pull but attached to some sort of post. She tried twisting her hand enough to get a freeing spell going, but she couldn’t get the angle right. Normal magic wasn’t going to help her right now. She’d have to get creative. Normally, she’d use her untempered magic, the whole glowing eyes thing. But it wasn’t the most predictable, and she had no idea where she was or what might happen. She could put herself in even more danger if she just let her magic go wild.
And then she saw the door to the room start moving, and she straightened upright, pushing herself back with her feet. Best to keep some distance between her and whoever her captors were.
Ben stepped into the room where the prisoner was being held, it was the first time he had stepped foot onto Auradon, his rightful home by birth. What luck that they had been able to capture the Usurper’s daughter, though Ben had asked that no more harm than necessary be inflicted on the princess, she was an innocent in this after all.
“Don’t worry, we won’t hurt you, we just want some information is all.” Ben said as he watched the violet haired girl, how many years had he watched her on the sorry excuse of a tv on the isle, a regal princess at her mother’s side?
She didn’t look very regal now, she looked scared.

“You mean, you have magic?” Aurora had hoped, that Mallory had taken after her birth father, who ever he might be. When she showed no signs of magic as a baby, but now that seemed not to be. She didn’t necessarily agree with the ban on magic, but it was not her place to say so.
Her duty now was to reassure her daughter.
“Mallory, it’s not illegal to have magic, just to use it. How long have you known about this?”
Mallory sighed, nodding. Her eyes avoided looking at her mother. She feared that she would look at her mother and see disappointment, regret at even deciding to adopt her. Why would she want a magical daughter when she already had her own prissy pink nonmagical biological daughter Audrey, after all?
“No? And what happens when all that not using it boils over into something I can’t control?” Couldn’t her mother tell that she was freaking out about this? That she had been freaking out for a long time about this? “I don’t know, a couple of weeks, maybe. My hair went purple, and I snuck into my aunts’ house to look at their spellbooks to figure out how to fix it… except, what I found was a ‘turn magical hair colors to normal hair colors’ spell… like they had used it before.” She was under the impression that they had fixed it so she was never suppose to find out any of this.
“There are classes you can take at school,” Aurora said quick to reassure her child that magic was not a bad thing.
“And your aunts will help you control it,” she remembered well the purple haired infant that had been placed in her arms sixteen years ago, and how her fairy godmothers had helped conceal the color with magic, not that Aurora had ever told anyone about that.
“This doesn’t change anything, Mallory, you’re still my daughter. I love you, forever and always.”

“Princess Adora, are you enjoying Family Day?” Belle asked as she knelt down to the little girl’s level.
She enjoyed Aurora’s youngest, even if it made her ache for the daughter she had never had. But the child didn’t need to know that, it wasn’t Aurora’s fault that she was so fortunate.
“Where’s your mommy and daddy?”
This Family Day seemed different than the other’s she’d been to. For one thing, now that Audrey and Ben were dating, her sister didn’t seem to want her around. Adora’s antics that once made Audrey laugh now only seemed to embarrass her, as she tried to act more grown up than ever. Even Grammy told her to leave Audrey be. She ignored the first question since outright saying no would be rude, but she wasn’t going to lie either.
“They’re over there,” She mumbled, gesturing to her parents and grandmother who sat with Queen Ella and her family. “Can I stay with you Aunt Belle?” She knew of course that the queen was not truly her aunt, but with Ben hanging around since before Adora was born, they might as well have been family.
Glancing off in the direction, Adora gestured to, Belle saw Aurora and Phillip deep in conversation with Ella and her husband. She had seen Audrey with Ben earlier so when Adora asked if she could stay with her Belle smiled warmly.
“Of course you can, Sweetheart, why don’t you come with me, and we’ll see if we can find something fun for you and I to do together.”

“I always wanted a daughter. We tried for many years, but it wasn’t to be.” The High Queen looked away from her future daughter-in-law. To admit this was painful even now.
“But now I have you, and you make Ben so happy, welcome to the family, Mal.”
Mal smiled kindly, briefly pausing as she heard Belle speak of wanting a daughter of her own. She had never been good at the whole consoling thing. It was probably because of her upbringing, but she just had no idea how to help with that whole thing. She tried, but sometimes she just had no words.
She pulled the older woman into a hug, hoping that would be enough. “I love you, Belle.”
“You can call me ‘Mom’ if you want,” Belle smiled returning the hug, she was so glad to have Mal marrying her son, she could see how happy Ben was when he was with her.
“I know I’m not your mother, but you will be my daughter-in-law.”

“So, imagine that you are at a state dinner and you want to address the queen of Cinderellasburg, how would you go about it?”
“GOOD EVENING, YOUR MAJESTY.” They repeat, hoping they got it right.
“Very good!” Fairy Godmother praised, applauding her pupil, the woman smiled it was a good start.
“It’s all about confidence and knowing the proper terms of address.”
auradonrulers:
“Well of course you’re different!” Aurora said, smiling a little to cover the butterflies that had filled her stomach at the mention of her daughter’s birth parents.
“But I don’t understand the interest in your birth parents, we are your family. And we love you, you are our daughter!”
Mallory sighed. Her mom didn’t understand, and of course she didn’t. The older woman had no reason to think of magic or purple hair. “I know, and I love you, too, Mom.”
Maybe she should just forget about talking to her about this. She wouldn’t understand. And magic was meant to be illegal here in Auradon. If she knew she had it, and was using it (albeit only to hide the changes she had been going through), it would only make her mother an accessory to the crime if she was found out. And that was assuming her mother had enough love in her heart to see past it.
But she had to do it. She couldn’t keep feeling scared of talking to her parents anymore. It was torture. “I meant different, from everyone here, Mom. In ways that would be illegal if people figured out how different.” Maybe that would be enough for her mom to understand what she was talking about. She was smart, after all. It wasn’t as if she couldn’t figure it out, right?

The smile fell from Aurora’s face, what could Mallory possibly think she couldn’t share with her?
“What sort of things?” The queen asked as she watched her daughter take off her tiara, she had thought her and Mallory shared everything, well almost everything anyway.
“Rosebud, you know you can tell me anything.”
Liv hesitated before looking to her mother. What could she say? How should she say it? How would her mother react? Oh, she needed to do it, just rip the proverbial band-aid off right now or she was going to try to get out of it.
“Things have been… happening… and I’ve been thinking.” She took a deep breath. “I’m not like you and dad. I’m… different. And I think that… whoever my birth parents are might have the answer to why.”
“Well of course you’re different!” Aurora said, smiling a little to cover the butterflies that had filled her stomach at the mention of her daughter’s birth parents.

“When addressing a king or queen never use ‘Your Highness’ the proper term of address is Your Majesty, or Your Grace if you’re in doubt.”
THEY’D KNOWN ALL THAT, BUT NODDED as if they hadn’t out of politeness. “Understood.”

I’m going to call it a night my loves, sleep well!
