The call from the school had told Clark more than enough. Whatever had happened, it clearly hadn't been an easy day for Kara. He remembered those days all too wellāthe confusion, the isolation, the feeling that no matter how hard he tried, he never quite fit in. The difference was that he'd had Jonathan and Martha to help him through it. Now, it was his turn to be that person for someone else.
Making his way up the ladder to the loft, Clark wasn't surprised by what he found. A small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he spotted Kara near the telescope.
"I thought I'd find you up here."
He stepped further inside, taking a moment to glance around the familiar space. So many years later, the loft still felt the same. It had always been where he came when he needed to think, to get away from the noise, or simply to be alone with his thoughts. Crossing over, Clark settled onto one of the nearby seats.
"You know, my dad used to call this place my Fortress of Solitude long before the real one ever existed."
A quiet chuckle escaped him as he looked around. "When I was younger, whenever things got too complicated, this is where I'd come. School problems, questions about my abilities, trying to figure out who I was... I'd sit up here for hours sometimes."
He paused, folding his hands together. "And honestly? There were plenty of days when I felt completely alone."
Clark's gaze shifted toward Kara.
"I know things haven't exactly been easy for you. New planet. New people. New rules. On Krypton, you knew where you belonged. Here, everything's different."
His expression softened. "But you don't have to figure it all out by yourself. You don't have to pretend everything's okay if it isn't."
Kara looked over to Clark as he walked in, before looking back into the telescope, messing with the settings. "Your telescope is broken. No matter how much I adjust it, it won't get past Neptune." She could probably fix it, but as it was, this was basically a baby's toy. "That's what you call the last planet in your system, right?" As if humanity could actually get out of the galaxy with their telescopes you could buy in some general store... yeah, sure.
Yes, deal with the telescope issue, not what was wrong. She would prefer not having to deal with her problems. Let's focus on his. But he was already on to cheer up mode. Humans must be so obsessed with their emotions that he'd think she would want to vent.
But her eyes narrowed in confusion when he said that she had known where she belonged on Krypton. Sure, she had loved her family, and, at times like this, she would have vastly preferred dying with her family than coming here and finding out that her mission of protecting him was basically a moot point at this point. But she had been an outcast on Krypton in school because she was too smart. Imagine that, being too smart for a culture that prided themselves on their intelligence. "I just... thought that a school that didn't care about grades would have been different."

Chloe was hanging out with Kara at Talon, having coffee and just doing things girls their age did. Chloe, as always, was going over the new addition to the Wall of Weird.
"Get this, someone who can move at speeds that should be near impossible for anyone to pull off. And all anyone ever sees is a flash of blue before they disappear. I don't know Kara, our local may have some competition, this person is apparently out here saving the day."
Kara paused slightly. "Another? I thought you said you've yet to find definitive proof on the Smallville Blur or... whatever you're calling it this week." Okay, that might sound a bit mean, but... how do you tell your best friend that you're the superpowered freak that's been going around stopping all the bad ones? The one that she's already so obsessed with? What would even stop her from putting her on the Wall of Weird, like everyone else?
"Well... the way I see it, if this speedster is actually here to help, then... good for them. We get a crazy amount of weirdness, and the police don't know what to do. Someone's gotta do it." Which is precisely why she did it herself. She had all this power that was wasted on the farm... at least when meteor freaks were causing trouble. She had no interest in sitting still when someone was in trouble.

"There is no such thing as harmless power."
"Says the guy who stepped into an experimental machine to fight a war." Oh, the irony of it being the same machine that gave her her powers has got to be eating at him. At least a little bit. "Come on, your story's famous. Everyone gets a chance to go to your museum exhibit, even little HYDRA kids."
"It's kind of adorable that you think Evie would let you pay for it at all." It wasn't pity, it was Evie's love language. A way to show the people in her life that she appreciated them. And for a moment he found himself pausing on the word, almost regretting that he called her adorable. Not that it was a lie, but he didn't want to scare her off. He knew that he liked her, but he didn't know what he would do if she didn't like him back. They were good as friends, she had saved him when someone went after him to get at his father. And had been there ever since. "Just consider it, you might actually have a good time."
Mal paused at his word choice. Adorable? Since when did any part of her scream that word? Her whole motif was dragons, and not in the cute How to Train your Dragon way. "It's naive of you to assume that her mother would allow any purchase for me." Come on, Ben, even you had to know who the sheriff answered to. The Mayor knew exactly who she was.
"Then go to forty percent of the dance." He teased with a small smile. He knew that he was pushing it, trying to talk Mal into something she didn't want to. Maybe he should admit that he wanted a dance with her, a chance to have that high school moment that everyone else dreamed of. "They'll let you in the door, and if they don't I have a way of charming people into doing what I want. Besides, we both know Evie is dying to pick out a dress for you."
Mal shrugged. "I'm sure she would." How she became friends with the mayor's daughter, of all people, was beyond her. The sheriff was in the woman's pocket, so she has probably heard all about the trouble-making teen in purple hair. "I'd probably have to pickpocket like... half... the town to afford a dress she likes, though." Her foster parents are definitely wealthy enough to afford anything in any store, but they would never give her any money to get a dress. They would probably ground her if they knew she wanted to go to a dance purely so she couldn't go.
There was something certainly ⦠unusual about the woman he had bumped into. Was she like him? A witch or warlock, perhaps not. But something else entirely? Where Theodore was from supernatural folk wandered the streets like it was the most natural thing in the world. The city had been protected for generations and still was to this day. Theo had left it due to well ā long story short, family drama.
āNot everyone, I assume. Just me? Er ⦠I promise I donāt make a habit of running into strangers, clumsiness or otherwise.ā The warlock shifted on his feet and he rubbed the back of his neck, noticing her accent as he heard her speak. Different from his own, of course. āIf I did that, Iād probably never have a night to myself,ā he answered with a shake of his head and a chuckle. āThe shop is still open, by the way. If you were headed to the bookstore behind me. Iāve left my employeeās to attend to it while Iām out, so youāll be in good hands if thatās your destination.ā
Saithra's tail was currently hidden under her skirt. This place's fashion made it surprisingly easy to hide most of the more obvious traits that made her not like the rest. But the fangs were... difficult... to hide.
She had honestly been simply walking past, hadn't even seen the bookstore, not as anything past periphery noise at best. Saithra looked over to it when the man pointed it out. "This is your establishment?" she asked, her eyes glancing back to him. Her voice didn't sound excited, or even surprised. To someone uneducated in her kind, she might even seem... bored. "I am new to this city. I was... exploring." Was that the right word for it, taking in the sights? She had no way of knowing. The language was far too new for her to understand the nuance of word choice.
"Suppose you are right..though I do not like seeing myself as such" Ophelia replidd somewhat bitterly. The arguments she had with Mycroft were unfortunate but indeed needed. She wasn't going to be sucked into the life he wanted for her. "Well, neither of you could cook..makes sense" she sighdd, she gudssed it was up to her. Yet with wjat ingredients? "If we go to the butchers now I can get us a chicken to roast with some vegetables from a local market" She offered, pouring the tea for the both of them passing it to her brother.
"After the tea of course..however I will need your guidance on where to go..this is hardly London" And everything was different, prices, what to buy, the local food. "I do not wish to go out for food, I like to cook my own" As was to be expected from someone like Ophelia Holmes. "Maybe buy some new milk, unless it gets delivered?" Another question..she did not know this place well and it showed but she was here for Sherlock for London felt too lonely without him.
"I can cook," Sherlock argued almost immediately. He just found it dull, nothing but following instructions, whether on paper or in his head. "I simply prefer not to." His response had been an honest one before. That stove had not been used in over a decade. He had had no way of knowing it was safe to use without inspection, and stoves were simply not something he had had enough expertise in to check that for himself. He hadn't been ready to ask for some stranger to look into the inner workings of their family home.
"Old City market will probably have the best prices... if we disguise ourselves, but Grand Saray will be where we are most welcome... that is where you likely came in from, as the best hotel is there. If you want safest, the police station is in Scaladio." The districts of Cordona. He's been running all around Cordona long enough to get the general layout. And... well... tensions did run high between the classes.

"Look, it's not the worst idea in the world." Ben spoke, knowing that Mal might have a different thought. "We only get to go to a school dance like this once, and I think if you don't go you're going to regret it. Besides, I would be there with you the entire time."
Mal scoffed slightly. "You mean, go to a dance for a school I've missed like... sixty percent of my classes in? Yeah... I'm pretty sure they're not gonna let me in the door." That was a bit excessive, but she wasn't wrong about how many classes she's missed. Getting arrested instead of going to school was one of the easiest ways to make sure she ate in a day. It made her seem far, far worse of a student than she actually was, but hey, a girl's gotta eat.
Emma had been good at reading between the lines if something was going on. When things couldn't be explained over a phone call, they had to be serious. More serious than everything that happened at Mako Island since she left with her family on their trip. This had all been a big reason that drove her to seek out Cleo as one of the first people to see once she returned. Getting to the bottom of whatever was going on now had become her top priority.
"I can tell there's something going on. I will go back to Mako another time," she assured her best friend. Emma would remain persistent in waiting for whatever else was going on. It couldn't stay hidden from her now that she was actually back in Australia. "It's about us being mermaids, isn't it? Or rather something mermaid related? Because whenever something deep about that comes up there tends to be more seriousness," she reached out to place a hand on Cleo's shoulder. "You can tell me, Cleo."
Emma saw through her avoiding the problem. Of course, she did. "Sort of?" It wasn't the mermaid part of it itself that was the problem. No, she had long-since come to terms with being a mermaid. No, it was the fact that her parents had hid something so monumental her entire life. The where she came from didn't really matter, she supposed.
"So... I went to the Moon Pool that first Full Moon after Zane destroyed it. Decided, if that was where it all started, it should be where it ended. Lewis was waiting on the other end with a boat in case it all ended, like we thought it would. It didn't." She looked around, as if checking for people she knew wasn't there. "Something happened there. I couldn't change back. And it wasn't just for the moon, either. It was... nearly a week." She looked around once more before kneeling down beside a small puddle and she reached her hand out. Instead of her normal hand motion, she straightened her fingers out the way Emma did, and the puddle froze. She waited long enough for Emma to see it before shifting her position into Rikki's, melting the ice back into it's original puddle form.
It's only then that she stood back up. "Needless to say, dad was freaked that I was gone for a week with no warning, and basically blurted out that he and mom found me on a beach during his rant about how worried he had been."
"Well I wish he would cease his attempts with me that is for sure. Honestly it is like he treats me like I am some prize to be won." Ophelia stated with disapproval, shaking her head at even the thought of it. "No, next time I am saying no and he will have to drag me out of the house!" Which no doubt Mycroft would. Ophelia knew he was only looking out for her best interests, but this was certainly not what she wanted in the slightest.
"Three? Why on earth, do we have three?" Ophelia queried, following Sherlock to the kitchen where he opened the cupboard handing one bronze coloured one to her. "I know brother.." Ophelia sighed, going over to the tap to run it through before drying the outside. She put water in, before turning the hob on with a match, placing the kettle ontop. A kitchen was a kitchen, and Ophelia knew her way around one easy enough.
A small smirk formed on her features "you are a show off you know that right?" Ophelia wasn't as smart as both her brothers, not deduction wise though she was sure she could pick it up, Ophelia had always taken a step back from it all. "Do you have dinner planned? Or am I to make that too?"
Sherlock sighed. "Everything is a prize to be won to people like Mycroft. He has already attempted several times to bring him home, yet he is attempting to get me to do things for him." That wasn't him trying to turn the conversation back to himself. No, that was him trying to tell her that he understood her frustration.
He hesitated for a moment when she asked why they had three kettles. "Mother was... particular, near the end. Deemed each type of hot drink should be prepared with a different metal kettle." And Mycroft hadn't had the strongest of backbones to deal with eccentricities back then. Not that he was better at it now, or Sherlock would likely be in an institution himself.
At the suggestion of dinner, he pauses. Right, food. He often does not think about food when he's on a case. "I have been eating at the restaurants around Cordona, as I was unsure how safe it would be to use the stove. But... when I am on a case, well... I tend to become single-minded."

Emma had planned on coming back to the Gold Coast once her homeschool credits were finished. However, her plans had been delayed a bit with her family throwing a goodbye party. It was hard to leave them, but she felt sure she'd see them again soon. Once Emma's mind returned to the present conversation she nodded. "I had a feeling that something was going on based on some of our last messages," she moved over to give her best friend a hug. It felt good to be around Cleo again. "I'm all ears though."
Cleo hesitated slightly. "I know Rikki told you about the meteor and... well, Zane. Good news, the magic's not dead like what we thought. I wouldn't suggest getting out and exploring the cave unless you plan on wearing a hard hat, but the pool is fine to return to." That was the easy part. And it took a few weeks for her to even find that out. Rikki and Bella had been out mermaiding like there was no tomorrow to realize that she was trying to fix up the Moon Pool.
No... no, what was going on was entirely with her. She hadn't even told the others about it yet. How could she even begin to explain to Rikki that she now has her powers too when Rikki had been so frustrated that she was the last to find her powers... by quite a bit? How did she explain to them that what happened was pretty much undeniable evidence that she had been adopted? How was Emma going to react to finding out that she had been living in her house for a few weeks without her?
