Trying to find anything to inspire more Harrisco and Atomvibe!

so I was rewatching the season 2 and god all the barrison scenes are epic.. they were literally flirting with each other and eye fucking each other so bad that it reminded me of johnlock from Sherlock BBC version.. not to mention I played the song Can You Feel The Love Tonight to the scene when barry met harry for the first time..

The Barrison in S2 is so interesting because it expresses the very strange place Barry’s in psychologically following the events of S1.

After everything that happened, knowing that Eobard murdered his mother, betrayed them all, and was potentially about to murder Barry and everyone he holds dear, Barry SHOULD have instantly gone apeshit when Harry showed up. Joe doesn’t hesitate before trying to shoot him. Later, in 2x07, Barry immediately reacts and slams Harry-in-the-yellow-suit against the wall.

But when Harry shows up, Barry just stands there stunned. And then apparently lets Harry tell his story, BELIEVES him, and takes him back to STAR Labs where he argues to Cisco, Caitlin, and Joe about why they should trust Harry.

So… why? In 2x01, we see Barry’s daydream about the perfect situation for him, a situation where Ronnie and Eddie are still alive, and everyone is praising him. AND EOBARD IS THERE. Barry is still stuck with this desperate need to be how things were, and these confused feelings where, despite knowing everything Eobard has done, he can still like him. Eo is still in his heart.

When Mattobard shows up in 2x11, Barry pummels him and locks him up. It’s easy to hate this guy with a different face, despite the fact this Eobard hasn’t even killed Barry’s mom (yet). While in 2x12 Barry waxes lyrical about how great it was working with “Dr. Wells” - in his head, he’s largely managed to separate the two.

It’s only really after this that Barry starts 100% (okay, 85%?) seeing Harry as Harry, not as Fantasy Good Eobard.

Those 'reverse flash ring' gifs are always love. I will squint past the last one because I still associated it with Eo/Wells more. But really have to say that second gif is one of my fave. Just can't stop staring. What is with that; can't even see his face, but the hand, the fingers & that move (THAT little massage move), the neck, and then having the ring just brings the moment with the perfect touch of super villainy. *speechless*

Oh, I love that scene SO much.

I mean, first of all it’s shot so beautifully. The show rarely focuses on Tom as the sexy mofo he is, but THIS scene essentially starts with the camera in his crotch, then we get this low shot that totally emphasizes how ripped he is, really showing him as a formidable physical threat.

And then the shot you mentioned, which apart from being neck porn is such an interesting directorial choice:

The fact is, this little moment, despite focusing on the Reverse Flash ring, is really NOT a moment of supervillainy. This is his moment of indecision, which for Eobard, Mr. Goal-Oriented, is unique. This is the moment he decides to go against his own best interests and jeopardize his entire 15-year plan in order to help his friends - Caitlin and Ronnie.

Sure he then rationalizes it to Gideon by saying his plan is useless if the city gets blown up, but that was literally what he was going to avert by shooting Ronnie/Martin. For him, the choice was “kill Ronnie/Martin and devastate Caitlin” or “try to save Ronnie/Martin by sending Barry, his ticket home, into the path of a nuclear blast.”

And, despite being a supervillain, he makes the heroic decision.

Dear artist

You hate what you’ve created.

You hate how it’s somewhat lopsided. How that eye doesn’t quite line up with the other one, and how the hair looks fake, fabricated. You hate how the colors clash and how the light source is GOD knows where. You hate how your knowledge of anatomy is constantly holding you back, teasing you with a carrot at the end of the long stick; you’re so close to being what you think is pro, but you don’t know QUITE ENOUGH to keep that pose from looking wonky. You hate how everyone you admire turns out to be younger than you, or marginally older than you, because that’s when you feel the obligation, the pull of the race to be THE BEST, weighing down your reason.

But before you picked up your paint brush, your tablet pen, your pencil - what was there? A blank canvas, a blank paper, a blank, forbidding photoshop file, and the “responsibility” to get better at art as soon as physically possible.

There was nothing before you put your pencil down. Nothing before you made that first stroke. Every time you think that work is shit, I want you to look at it and remember: before you made that move, before you imagined, created this IDEA, there was nothing. Just a smattering of pixels. A blank page. What remains after you have RECREATED YOUR IDEA, moving it by use of your anatomy studies, your lighting studies, incorporating every single thing you have ever learned about art to make what you see REAL, is the result of you. It is the result of your efforts, and when it comes down to your art, it’s about you. Stop comparing yourself to others. Stop thinking there is a race to win. You can do it - you’ve made it this far. Every thing you create is a culmination of your talents, your will to create. That’s powerful. You’re powerful, and fully capable of creating anything you set your mind to.

So it turns out there’s another advantage to writing ridiculously self-indulgent fanfic: using it as an excuse to draw ridiculously self-indulgent fanart!

So here’s Eobard, a fortnight or so into Moving Forward, an AU in which he survives the end of s1 and ends up de-powered and locked up in the Pipeline. He’s a mess at this point, both inside and out, and that makes him a lot of fun to both write about and draw.
