Another Storm, Another Path {One Shot}

After some big changes, Aurora makes a choice herself.

This year was supposed to be of new beginnings.

Rosewood Apothecary, she had been ready to sign the leased.

The house, she had been ready to sign the papers to buy.

Holley and her were going to start a community garden.

She was going to have the unit beside Hatter!

She hadn’t missed the way her and Tom took a little longer saying goodbye.

It was supposed to be a good year.

But Tiana had left and she had just said that it was likely her Mom and her were moving.

More and more of the knights were moving on, moving forward.

Tom was thinking about leaving, and this town once filled with purposed, felt fleeting, it felt empty. Aurora could stay, she knew she could, she could put down those very roots that had called to her in the beginning. The ones that had pulled her here.

She could continue to flourish here. She could, she knew she would.

But it would be slower, Aurora felt that need again pulling, tugging her in a new direction. Tugging her to a new story. Perhaps it would be harder, her magic while no longer cursed was twisted.

But that was okay, she had learned about to handle a curse once, and she still planned on being a storm speciality, and storms needed to move, they needed to grow and flow with the wind.

Aurora needed that freedom, she didn’t need roots, she needed the ability to flow like water, to burn like fire to escape like air.

Earth has served her well but she was no longer holding onto it.

She would use the strength she learned from the Earth to fight alongside Tom getting Levi back, but she would be free as the other elements had taught her.

Setting down the pen, Aurora nodded as she walked away from the lease, she walked away from the space she had wanted this entire time.

Aurora’s story had changed, and she was okay with that.

A storm always found another path.

Jess nodded at that. She wasn't sure if she really was the first person that Aurora had asked, although it was a potentially sweet thought. Not many people came to either her or the Court as a first choice for something involved with the community.

That last question was easy though.

"Of course! I love gardening, and I think having a community garden space is a wonderful idea. We're lucky with the nature we have here and the access to farm fresh food, but it's still wonderful for people to be able to see how food is grown and to have a space to go if they're having a hard time."

It wasn't the answer that Aurora was looking for but it was a good answer. It showed how much interest people had, that it would be something that people sought out. They had lots of gardeners in Swynlake. That much she was certain of.

"Then we'll gladly accept the help and I'll keep asking around to find the perfect space."

Spring Blooms {Elsa & Aurora}

A community garden, huh? Elsa stood up a little taller, eyes bright. It wouldn't be something she could do on her own, not with her black-thumb (she was nearly as bad as Mim), but anything to draw attention away from the surrounding empty lots and the Literal Burnt Husk Next Door would be a relief.

"I would definitely be interested in hearing more," Elsa said before gesturing to the bar stools at the counter. Once they were both settled, Elsa tilted her head curiously. "So what exactly do you mean by a community garden, and what would the host of this garden be expected to contribute? Be it time, effort, or money?"

Just because she was desperate didn't mean she wanted to sign herself up for something she and her crew couldn't handle; especially not right before the start of their busy season.

"Not much really, Holley and I thought that lakeside would be the better location but I'll use a lot of supplies and time from the Apothecary. And then a lot of it is people taking care of their plants as well but I'll help over see it." A little earth magic would go a long way but that wasn't the fun part of working together to make something grow.

She'd just use it as a last resort if needed.

There was a part of Jess that wanted to say yes. After all, she had her own little community herb garden at her house. How much more fun to have that at her work as well to look after?

"I think the garden will be more successful if it's at a different location, although I'm happy to contribute to the costs of setting it up and any of the labor necessary. But if you haven't spoken to Elsa yet, I think the Ice Queen has some nice land that would work well."

Ah well that was a thought, A club might not be the exact place most people wanted to see their community garden, add the fact a lot of it would be in off hours, it could be a bad idea.

But hey she knew she had to ask at the very least.

"She's on my list, as it anyone on the lane. I was thinking of asking Snow as well since she manages the Hauntley." But she wasn't sure if Snow would have the time for it. "Would you really want to just help out though? even if it's not here?"

Jess waved away the question with a smile. She didn't need to go into all the ways marketing companies liked to flag the Court's promotional materials or tried to loophole her out of contracts. That was her own problem to solve.

Much more interesting was the reason Aurora was here.

"Oh I think that's a wonderful idea! What a great way to bring people together and give them a chance to see some fresh herbs and vegetables. I'd love to help contribute to this."

"Yeah?" It was nice hearing the other people thought it was a good idea. That others would want to participate. That was the whole point afterall a community garden was nothing without the community.

"Did you want to use some of the land? Did you have any idea who might want to?" Having potentially drunk people stumbling around might not be the best option.

"It's all right, I have a few hours of answering emails and bullying marketers ahead of me, so I can procrastinate on that a little longer," she chuckled.

"So how can I help you? I'm sure you must be busy as well since you've been working on your new place." She was curious about it, of course, but she'd have to see what the apothecary shop ended up bringing to town.

"Bullying marketers?" Aurora questioned with a small laugh, she couldn't really imagine what that would entail and why it might even be necessary. Something she should perhaps learn for her own business.

"Holley and I are looking to start up a community Garden, likely something in Lakeside because of the soil quality so we were reaching out to all the owners to see if anyone wanted to take part with the location of it?"

Elsa was covering Edward's lunch when Aurora walked in, standing behind the counter with a marker cap in between her teeth as she refreshed the lettering on her 'Help Wanted' sign. It wasn't to the point that she'd need to hire any extra help yet, despite the busy season approaching, but hope springs eternal.

Maybe by the time the summer crowds start to arrive, the burnt down husk ten paces away from her door would be dealt with.

Elsa looked up at the sound of bells, marker cap still between her teeth, and quickly plucked it out and capped the marker and gave Aurora a small smile. She was closer with Ren and Martin, but their paths had crossed enough that they were familiar.

"Yes, of course." she said. "How can I help you?"

"I'm looking to start up a Community Garden with Holley so we were hoping to pitch to some lakeside business owners for space? If you would be interested?" Short and Sweet and easy.

And hey the worse thing could be a no and then Aurora would be off to the next to see what happened.

Jess was just beginning to unlock the front door to the Court, trying to hide her yawns (Penny had woken her up much too early today, and she was not as good at bouncing back as she'd been when she was younger).

The voice nearby had her turning with a smile all the same.

"Of course, come on in Aurora. Do you want a drink?" She knew Jared would only be a few minutes behind her but they had a couple minutes to themselves.

Aurora shook her head, she didn't want to take too much of Jess' time up and with a drink she would either have to finish it to be polite or leave it if it went wrong.

"How are you?" Aurora questioned as she caught up with Jess. "I promise I won't take much time I assume you're starting work."

Aurora was checking out lakeside, she had volunteered to look at a couple spots, see if there was an opening they could use for the community garden or asking owners in general if they wanted it to be on their property.

The options were a little strange considering a garage, a bar, a ice cream shop among the options.

But hey, it was lakeside and beautiful.
