A picture I made for a contest.
This is a continuation of the stats showing the character stats I have for the blocks (there wasn’t enough space to put all the pictures in the last post).
So, I looked at the stat wheels again, and I can’t help but think they’re incomplete for the data book. So I added two new stats for the stat book. So let me add a brief description for each stat.
Ninjutsu: Variety and Quality of Ninjutsu that can be used.
Genjutsu: Variety and Quality of Genjutsu that can be used.
Taijutsu: Quality of unarmed combat.
*New Stat* Bukijutsu: The ability to use weapons and ninja tools in combat.
Intelligence: Ability to analyze the field and retain information.
Strength: Physical power and lifting capability.
Speed: Mobility on the battle field, speed of casting jutsu.
Stamina: Chakra pool and physical endurance.
*New Stat* Chakra Control: The efficiency and precision that chakra can be used.
Seal Knowledge: Knowledge of hand seals as well as physical sealing as well as the ability to use and make paper seals.
For some comparison I’ve made new stat blocks for Team Seven and Team Guy (I added stats for both Sakura from canon, and Shikako from Dreaming of Sunshine).
I should point out the new stats are probably stats that were previously pushed under two different stats. In this case I believe chakra control was put under Genjutsu and Bukijutsu was put under Taijutsu, which is completely inaccurate honestly. The way shinobi specialize especially when it comes to tools makes them very different. Tenten wouldn’t have the same stat in Taijutsu as Lee after all, since Tenten’s specialty is weapons (by the way, Gai has high weapons stats cause in the anime he trains with Tenten using nunchucks), the same being a medical ninja who would have high chakra control wouldn’t nessissarily use genjutsu as well (medical jutsu is after all, ninjutsu not genjutsu).
This is Golden Week’s (in character nickname) and Hiroshi and Suigetsu’s stat blocks. There is no stated average for shinobi, but I’m going to go ahead and give some number context for how I figure it.
.5 - Pitiful
1 - Poor
1.5 - Below Average
2 - Average
2.5 - Above Average
3 - Gifted
3.5 - Exceptional
4 - Superb
4.5 - Excellent
5 - Legendary
In this case, these stats are just what they would be listed as in a data book. They don’t account for other skills.
Mitsuki in color. This was done a little bit ago, but I couldn’t decide on the background, went for something simple.
The Kirigakure ninja academy in terms of graduates splits up each students into particular specialties after their first year based on their observed aptitudes, temperament and affinity. There are five courses that are considered their unit, which are also divided up into two different companies based on the role in combat that person is expected to take.
The companies are Combat Company and Support Company. While there is some variation based on individual years there’s always roughly half the students in each. Most of the students in support company are students who do not show any obvious aptitude in one course, and are considered basic students, which means they will get basic training in all courses overall. Students in the basic course can advance to a standard course if they show progress but that’s very rare. The other part of support company is the Genjutsu standard unit, despite genjutsu’s use in combat it’s considered one of the soft arts and thus more suited to support.
Minami has a lot to say about being pushed into there.
The other three units are all a part of combat company, they are Kenjutsu, Ninjutsu, and Taijutsu. Despite Kirigakure being known for it’s swordsman, taijutsu is the largest standard unit by far as a specialty for combat company. Given someone in the kenjutsu unit may also be put into the taijutsu unit as well to make them more rounded as a close range fighter, though they have to be fairly adept to do so since most students if they are put into a standard course are only ever put into one. Ninjutsu is the smallest course in combat company because it’s a course that requires both good chakra control and good reserves to be effective in which is a rare combination with the fact that most the academy ninja come from common stock (genjutsu company is usually good chakra control with average or lower than average reserves).
In terms of gender, support company has more girls then boys and en vice versa. This is partially because company placement is partially based on temperament with boys being expected as more aggressive than girls in combat, partially it’s because males are naturally stronger than females, and partially it’s because girls are traditionally in support roles.
Ume probably would have been put into basic course if she wasn’t both very aggressive in fighting during her first year and also wind natured which favors itself to fast movement. Her nature was also factored into her being put into kenjutsu, though the real kicker was because she was so much smaller than the other kids they gave her a sword to improve her reach.
No matter what company you’re from, it’s considered very unlikely that you’ll make it to full shinobi. In fact only about four of the characters who are active in story would have likely passed the graduation, and despite her skill Ume isn’t one of them. Only ten percent successfully become genin, the other ninety percent are sent to other more specialized companies which are Infiltration, Medical and Garrison. The Garrison company is the biggest because it serves as the military police for the entire country, acts as border patrol as well as shipping patrol for pirates and during war as shock troops for most operations. It’s the only company that draws from both Support and Combat company. Infilitration and Medical both exclusively draw from Support company because the last six months of training focus more on noncombat skills for support company than not. It’s part of this that makes it so only a third of full shinobi in Kirigakure are part of support company.
Anbu is a special case because any person whether full shinobi or not who has received academy training can apply to become anbu. It doesn’t mean they’ll succeed the intense training and be fully accepted, but because of the nature of anbu work they never limit who can apply to become part of the ops making it the only truly equal opportunity job for academy goers in Kirigakure.
This is a reference mostly to the standard sizes of swords vs the more exotic legendary seven swords. Ume because of her size uses a wakizashi, her wakizashi in particular has a thinner blade and handle than average because it was made specifically so she could wield it one handed with her very small hands. It’s made in the same fashion as a katana as well as forged of chakra steel so it’s much stronger than a tanto even though it’s fairly small in size.
Chojuro’s sword is a standard Kirigakure katana, in fact his blade is actually a loaner from the supply office since he himself didn’t get to keep the blade he borrowed during the chunin exames. Unlike Ume’s or Suigetsu’s it has a cross guard and a very traditional length and width. Even though it’s not chakra steel, it’s a folded steel battle ready katana and strong enough to serve as both sword and shield.
Suigetsu’s sword was like Ume’s custom made for his exclusive use. It’s chakra steel as well but Suigetsu’s chakra nature means he can’t use the same way Ume uses hers. A water natured swordsman could use chakra steel to make water weapons that cut but cannot be blocked, however since Suigetsu can do so without it the sword is less valuable in his hands.
For a country that loves it’s katana the legendary swords are fairly strange in shape. This may be because they are modeled after a tanto, which is the more standard of ninja blades, but all the legendary swords are more straight blades than anything else. Kiba are both straight swords and though it’s know as some of the sharpest swords ever made the bards show that Kiba is both an offensive and defensive design allowing or easy blocks and crossguards. It’s also the shortest of the seven swords because of the fact that it’s to be used together in tandem.
While it looks more like a shield than a sword (and it can be a sheild) the design of Hiramekarei makes perfect sense when you remember that while ninja bend physics the average ninja doesn’t usually outright break the laws of conservation. In this case, the extra mass allows it to draw material to change form. It’s a tricky blade to use, and not something you can use without a good bit of chakra to back up the transformations.
Nuibari is known as the long sword, and by katana standards it is quite long. Though by seven swords length it’s still beaten by Kubikiribocho. It’s length isn’t the impressive part, it’s said that while Kiba has the sharpest blade, it has the sharpest point. A proper wielder can pierce through armor, flesh, bone, steel and stone with little trouble. It’s said it’s because it’s point is so thin it goes to the spaces between.
Kubikiribocho is a massive sword and one of the hardest to wield because of how long it is. Considering how fast Zabuza can move with it should tell you just how skilled a swordsman he is.

Chakra Affinities
Chakra affinity is of course the element a person is most in tuned with and such the easiest element they can make and manipulate. There are seven chakra affinities: Wind, Water, Fire, Earth, Lightning, Light and Dark, though only the first five can be found in any nation, though with variable commonness based on region. Each nation has a most common and least common nature.
Overall most common elements.
Earth
Fire
Water
Wind
Lightning
How common an element is in an area depends a lot on neighboring countries as well as regional variation. The five main elemental nations most common affinity matches the nation’s affinity, while their rarest affinity is the natural weakness to that affinity mostly because of the dominant type being most common.
A shinobi’s elemental nature often can and does denote what type of jutsu and thus what fighting style suits them the best. This is not the rule of course, as any variation on certain jutsu and styles can be followed by any shinobi.
There are other variants and stereotypes based on affinities as well. It’s said earth users are hardier, more patient and more physically inclined, fire users are aggressive and have a hot temper, water users have better control making them suited to being healers as well as fluid flexible nature, wind users are naturally faster than most people and tend to crave freedom, while lightning users have increased reflexes as well as quick tongues. While there might be some merit to the physical effects, asking a shinobi their elemental affinity to determine their personality is much akin to asking their horoscope sign or their blood type. Basically bullshit as such things like that don’t really affect how a person would act in any given situation.
As far as the characters in story go, some of them follow certain stereotypes, but other do not based on their natures.
When most people say I have Land of Wind features, they’re mostly referring to the shape of my eyes (in conjunction with my hair color). Every major region has a most common eye shape probably having to do with the dominant genetics in that area. My eyes are almond shape, but more importantly, have a slight tilt towards my nose. This shape is most common in the Land of Wind, the Land of Stone and the Land of Earth, which is probably because of their proximity to each other as the westernmost kingdoms in the elemental nations. This is drastically different than the eye shape in the Land of Water, which is usually longer and more angular almost square like when they’re squinting, with few exceptions. Chojuro, Zabuza and Hiroshi have some of the most traditional shapes. While Suigetsu has almond shaped but not angled eyes which for the Land of Water is only prominent in the Hozuki clan. Mei has a more angular eye, but at an angle like mine, which isn’t that hard to believe as both her bloodlines originated from outside the Land of Water. Most the others have a mix of that angular eye shape with the much rounder eye shape found in Land of Waves, Land of Fire, and the former Land of Whirlpool, which suggests hey have mixed ancestry from that region. Land of Lightning as one of our closest geological neighbors share the angular eye shape of the Land of Water, though like Mei it tends to have a slight slant towards the nose.

So I’m gonna practice drawing, I usually skip that step, but I need to practice sketching. So I’m gonna try and draw, every single pokemon. Which, I admit is gonna take a while.
Also for those of you who don’t know, this is Ash’s Bulbasaur doing the bulbaby to calm down Togepi from Pikachu’s Vacation, which is cute as hell. Cause three pokemon don’t know what to do with a crying baby, and then pick up and rock and sing.
Most konouchi wear bright colors. Partially out of personal preference, partially out of necessity. Konouchi traditionally fill support roles like healers (not because of capability but because combat roles have a higher death rate so support roles allow women to stay alive to repopulate in case of mass war casualties) so wearing a bright color allows allies to identify them from a distance. It also allows them to blend into crowds when on stealth ninja since dark clothing and being a strong male is more heavily associated with shinobi (it’s sexist, but what is considered a full ranked active shinobi, excluding genin corps and infiltration workers (whom mostly work as civilian jobs or geisha) only about a third of all shinobi are female).
Of course, most konouchi also wear well fitted garments, usually tailored to their frame to prevent snags and people from grabbing their clothes in combat.
Not that I worry about such a thing.
This is a short reference for my fan fiction Sugar Plums, it’s just a visual cue to how teeny Ume is.
