End of My Mastery Journal
On January 5th, 2025, I began my mastery journey at Full Sail University to become a journalist. The journey began when I decided to get my Master of Arts, studying New Media Journalism. My intentions were to work hard and accomplish a high grade point average while learning everything there is to know about New Media Journalism. I intended to learn ways to stay focused and fight for my dreams. I wanted to become something that I could be proud of, and when my family talks about me, they can be proud too. I decided I wanted to pursue my dreams, and everything that I set out for, I accomplished.
My mastery journey is coming to an end, and I’m proud of my hard work. I did everything that I set out for, and I’m finishing up my journey with a 3.91 GPA with straight A’s through this whole experience. I learned how to research relevant information and managed my time to perfection. I’ve learned how to properly report while staying transparent and accountable. I’ve learned that it is important to seek the truth and report it. I’ve learned so many things, including the SPJ code of ethics. As a journalist, it is my responsibility to minimize harm while keeping the balance the public needs for information against potential harm or discomfort. Also, learning that the highest and primary obligation of ethical journalism is to serve the public, according to SPJ Code of Ethics.
As I stay accountable and Transparent, ethical journalism means taking responsibility for one’s work and explaining one’s decisions to the public. As a journalist, you should explain ethical choices and processes to your audience, according to the SPJ Code of Ethics. As I continue my journey into my new profession, I will apply what I have learned and continue to stay Transparent, accountable, and seek the truth, reporting it accurately. Through this journey, I’ve had instructors who encouraged and helped me on my journey to mastery. I’ve made it, and I plan to continue learning, striving to be the best I can.
