"thematically isa is a bunny" fascinating......care to elaborate the thoughts here :o

okay @autumn-may is much more versed on this one than I am but! I’ll give a rundown. Saïx’s mystery gear in days is bunnymoon, a claymore that switches from a moon on the end to a rabbit during his rage form. These mystery gears have one description, in that they are the ones that “draw forth the wielder’s personality”.

The wiki points out this is likely a reference to the rabbit in the moon, a myth about how a rabbit, unable to gather food for a beggar by the side of the road the way his companions (varies between versions but creatures like foxes, monkeys, and otters standardly) instead throws himself into the fire for the beggar, who then reveals himself to be a god, sparing the rabbit and drawing him on the moon to honor him. There have been a lot of thematic parallels people have drawn between that and isa sacrificing much of his own self in order to try and help X and Axel and that ‘consuming’ him. Just for younger Isa the wolf doesn’t fit as well and seems more the persona he’s slipped on over time. Rebirth and resurrection are also pretty common motifs for rabbits to be associated with.. Autumn May is busy at the moment but they said they’d also expand on this once they’re done with work!

I’m personally not against wolf-saïx, especially because, well *gestures at werewolfisms* but there is something to be said about how he isn’t initially a wolf, in fact, with the way he’s targeted for some reason that we aren’t entirely aware of yet (what with him being chosen brought back to the organization by young xehanort and xigbar in the recoded movie bonus cutscene, as well as him having a physical recusants sigil—the scar—in addition to the one in his name) it’s kind of easy to connect him to a prey animal like a rabbit. The version of saïx we see in 358/2, kh2, and so on and so forth, our ‘wolf’ is a version of him that exists as a result of him losing parts of him to the faked/forced identity of organization manager/enforcer, it’s not his default state.

Also, this is just me but I love the conflict between predator and prey with the idea of werewolf and rabbit, I think it plays very well with how he’s not designed to be a combatant for the most part. He stays out of the way and plans and schemes but isn’t that weird for a berserker? His two roles within the org (the manager and beserker) are at odds with one another.

Last thing
